Silk paper를 이용한 숲의 이미지 자수표현연구

Abstract

자연은 인간 예술활동의 주요표현 대상으로 존재하여 왔다. 이에 많은 예술가들은 숲을 넓은 의미의 자연으로 보고 그 속에 존재하는 조화와 질서를 조형 표현의 원리로 인식하여, 자연을 보는 시각적 척도에 따라 주관적으로 표현하였다. 본 연구는 숲을 자연의 구체적인 표현대상으로 선정하고, 숲을 구성하는 요소를 통해 재해석한 숲의 이미지를 수(手)제작한 실크 페이퍼(silk paper)를 이용하여 표현함으로써 현대자수에 있어서 표현방법의 다양성을 연구하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 실크 페이퍼를 이용한 숲의 이미지에 대하여 연구, 분석하고 이를 실제 작품 제작에 응용하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 첫째, 자연의 구체적인 표현대상으로서의 숲의 개념을 알아보고 숲의 이미지를 구성하는 4대 요소와 세부요인을 통하여 숲의 이미지를 분석하였다. 둘째, 숲의 이미지를 표현하는 매체로 사용한 실크 페이퍼의 제작방법 및 특성을 알아보고 실크페이퍼의 특성을 이용하여 표현한 작품을 분석하였다. 셋째, 숲의 이미지를 표현한 섬유예술 작품과 현대자수 작품을 형태, 선, 색채, 질감의 4대 요소를 중심으로 분류, 분석하였다. 작품 제작은 숲을 대상으로 하여 숲의 이미지를 구성하는 형태, 선, 색채, 질감의 4대 요소를 강조하여 숲의 이미지를 재구성하였다. 다양한 질감과 형태 표현을 위하여 실크 페이퍼는 굵기와 꼬임이 다른 견사로 제작하였고, 실크 페이퍼 제작 시 피스(piece)로 제작하여 겹쳐 배치함으로써 숲의 단위인 나무들의 중첩효과를 나타내고자 하였다. 작품의 재료로는 실크 페이퍼와 견사를 사용하였고, 실크 페이퍼의 재료로는 실크솜, 견사, 거즈와 합성 호료를 사용하였다. 자수실은 광택을 지닌 견사를 사용하여 굵기와 꼬임에 변화를 주었다. 자수기법으로는 이음수와 삼각수를 변형하여 숲의 형태와 질감을 표현하였다. 그 외의 바탕과 숲의 단위인 나무의 위치에 따라 기계수인 지그재그 박음질, 직선 박음질과 삼중 박음질을 사용하여 나무의 줄기로 보이도록 의도하였다. 이를 바탕으로 한 작품제작의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 숲을 구성하는 요소를 통하여 재해석한 숲의 이미지를 수제실크 페이퍼를 이용하여 표현함으로써 숲의 평온함과 자연의 심상을 조형화 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 실크솜과 견사 등 여러 형태의 실크 재료를 사용하여 제작한 실크페이퍼는 숲의 자연스러운 형태와 다양한 질감을 표현하기에 적합하였으며 고유한 광택은 질감을 부각시켰다. 셋째, 실크페이퍼의 피스를 중첩하여 붙인 형태는 숲의 단위인 수목집단의 형태로 표현하기에 효과적이었고, 입체적인 효과도 얻을 수 있었다. 넷째, 이음수, 난십자수와 변형 삼각수 등 다양하게 응용한 자수기법은 바탕인 실크페이퍼의 고유한 결과 함께 숲과 나무개체의 형태를 표현하기에 적절하였고, 부분적으로 사용된 기계수는 나무의 줄기를 표현하기에 효과적이었다. 이와 같이 자연으로서의 숲의 이미지 표현을 위해서는 여러 구성요소를 분석함과 함께 예리한 관찰이 필요하며, 관찰된 대상에 적합한 자수표현기법 및 표현재료의 연구가 요구됨을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 자수의 소재로 사용할 수 있는 실크페이퍼의 수제작시 미비점을 보완하고 특성을 살려 자수에 있어서 보다 나은 독창적인 조형적 표현양식으로 발전시키고자 한다.;Nature has existed as the main subject of human art activity. Especially Artists have recognized forest in a broad sense of nature. Perceiving mould principle from intrinsic harmony and order of forest, artists have expressed forest under their own unique criterion. The object of this study is to research the diverse expression methodology of hand made silk paper that are used in modem embroidery to recompose the factor images of forest. Furthermore, this study has applied researched works and analyzed silk paper techniques of forest images to an actual work. Theoretical backgrounds to this study are as follows. First, analysis on forest images has been carried out by comprehending concept of forest as a concrete expression of nature and through four elements and detail factors composing forest images. Secondly, works that futures silk paper has been analyzed with the understandings of production method and futures of silk paper that are used as a medium of forest image expression. Lastly, fiber art pieces and works of modem embroidery which deal with representation images were classified and analyzed under four element standard. The works, under the theme of forest, reorganize the image of forest emphasizing four composing elements; form, line, color, texture. To express various textures and forms, silk paper was produced with silk thread in different thickness and twist. In addition, to create the overlapping effect of. units of forest, the trees, silk paper was at first had made into pieces and placed overlapping each other. Basic materials used are silk paper and silk thread. Silk paper was produced with silk cotton, silk thread, gauze, compound CMC. Alteration on thickness and twist of thread was given by using glossy silk embroidery thread. To represent forms and textures of the forest, transformation of outline stitch and triangle stitch embroidery techniques were performed. Also, under the intention to show the details of units of forest, the trees ' trunks, backstitch techniques were used depending on the location of trees and backgrounds of forest. Results and conclusions on works and analysis under certain methods and materials are as such. First, as expressing the image of wood by using hand made silk paper throughout the factors constructing wood, I'm able to model serenity of image of wood. Secondly, usage of various forms of silk materials, including silk cotton and silk thread, were found to be appropriate in describing the natural form and various texture of the forest. Thirdly, the form of overlapped pieces of silk paper was effective in representing the units of forest as groups. Also, it was suitable to produce dimensional effects. Lastly, the technique of embroidery applying outline stitch and modified triangle stitch variously as well as the smooth texture of the silk paper is proper to express the figure of wood and an individual tree and sawing stitch partially used is partially used is effective to express tree trunk. To conclude, this study has shown necessary requirements needed in representation of forest in broad sense of nature. Analysis on various elements and factors composing images of forest, implementation of appropriate embroidery techniques, research on materials used in representation are essential This study sincerely hopes that it will promote the useful role of silk paper as a back ground of embroidery and for expression pattern of mould to develope as creative and unique as it is.
