실루엣을 통한 현대인의 자화상

Abstract

예술작품의 대상인 인간형상이 갖는 의미는 그 안에 인간의 삶을 포함하고 있는 구체적 표현이며 동시에 인체라는 형식을 빌어 예술작품으로 표현하는 것은 인간의 삶에 대한 가장 직접적인 접근방식이다. 그러므로 “예술은 인간으로 하여금 ‘보는 것’이란 눈동자에 비추인 사물을 보는데 에서 시작하여 나아가 그 사물의 본질을 보는 일이다” 본인의 조형과정은 인물형상을 매개로 인상에서 느낀 주관적인 감정과 정서를 의도성과 즉흥성이 조화하는 방식으로 객관화를 시도한 것이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 과정에서 본인의 작품은 인간의 조형화에 있어서 외적 현상의 표현 보다는 내적 상태의 표출을 필수적 계기로 삼아 나타내고자 하였다. 이러한 의도는 점차적으로 형태의 제거와 인물형상의 단순화가 요구되었으며, 이는 대상의 윤곽적 사실성을 설명적으로 묘사하지 않고 대상의 내면을 파악함으로써 그 본질을 표현하려 하였다. 또한 형의 단순화는 그 과정에서 주관성의 개입의 여지를 남겨주므로 본인의 조형 과정에서 추구하는 인물상, 즉 주관적 심상에 의한 인물적 표현방법이 되었다. "현실보다 참된 형태를 구축하기 위해서는 대상의 불필요한 부분의 삭제라든가 또는 소재가 지닌 확고부동한 변함없는 모습의 포착을 위해서 자연으로부터의 강력한 영향을 섭취해야 하며, 생명과 물질의 본질을 파악할 수 있는 내면의 직관능력을 증대시키기 위한 노력이 필요하다."라고 피카소(Picasso 1881-1973)가 언급하였듯이 예술에 있어서 표현하고자 하는 형상의 불필요한 부분의 삭제는 감상자들의 심리적인 면에 상징적인 재미를 가져다주는 조형언어로서의 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 현대사회의 특징을 알아보고 그로인한 인간소외현상과 인간성 상실에 대해 연구하고 현대인의 자화상을 작품에 표현하고자 하였다.;The object of a work of art, the figure of a human being, signifies the concrete expression of mankind's life. At the same time, expressing the formality of a body into a work of art is the best method to reach the approximate existence of mankind. Therefore, the fine arts allow the mankind to realize not only the reflected im ages through the apple of the eye, 'the seeing', but also its true nature. My course of modeling is to attempt to attain the objectification in harmonizing the intentional and the im provisational im pression that comes from subjective feeling and emotion the formality of a body gives. In the process of doing so, I wanted to manifest the key that the inward expression gives rather than the outward illustration shows. Gradually, this aim necessitated to exclude and simplify some parts, because I tried to express the true nature of the object not by delineating the contour explicitly but by grasping the inner meaning. Furthermore, the simplification of some parts provides a margin to interfere in subjectivity, hence it has become the mechanism to express what I pursuit in my process of modeling a human, the subjective image. As Pablo Picasso(1881-1973)remarked,"to expel the real formality rather than the actuality, exclude unnecessary parts or capture the features of invincible and unchangeable whereabouts by absorbing the powerful influence from the nature, additionally, the effort to enhance the inner intuition to apprehend the essence of life and matter is necessary." To express in arts, the exclusion of object's unnecessary parts serves as a mental verbalization to the appreciators' symbolical pleasures. In this thesis, I studied and recognized the present society's characteristics and the human estrangement phenomenon and the mankind's loss that the society has resulted,and expressed the modern human's self-portrait in my works.
