자연환경오염에 대한 조형적 숙고

Abstract

The meaning of the word "Nature" is "being of itself" or "something done by itself," so that it means literally "something natural." However, the modern society, neglecting the laws of nature, is losing its health due to distrust, human alienation, rapidly changing ways of living, dense population, crowded public transportation, and environmental pollution. Especially, humankind utilizes science and technology as means of "advance" for the better life, and they seek only satisfaction of material desire as a common objective. As a result, they changed their basic position of their existence toward nature as a conqueror rather than adapting to or co-exist with nature. Endless material desire of humankind seems to let them enjoy more comfortable life, however, they are facing 21 century without recognizing implicit crisis of natural environment and hiding threat to survival resulting from contamination of nature. In any ages, there have been the cases of forest denudation due to reckless cut downs as well as the cases of environmental contamination caused by indiscriminate discharge of waste into the sea, air and earth. However, environmental problem in modern society can be considered "environmental crisis" in a sense that it occurs to the extent to which it treats human existence. As an alternative, based on human being's voluntary consciousness of morality, introspection on the whole, including nature, human being and society, is required in modern society. The purpose of this study is to offer an opportunity to awaken the recognition on the nature which is being destroyed and contaminated by excessive materialistic desire of human being, considering that is the cause of the contamination of natural environment in modern society The methods of this study are literature research together with production and analysis of art works. Causes of contamination of natural environment by human environment in modern society have been studied through materials on bad practices and empirical data on them. The expression of contamination of natural environment in modern art, and my works, based on contamination of natural environment, have been studied also. With the analyses, contents and methods of expression of 7 art works, I tried to awaken the recognition on the contamination of natural environment in modern society. Through this study, I would like to recognize once again natural environment contaminated by mammonism that is prevalent in modern society.;자연은 ‘저절로 그러하다’라는 의미로서 말 그대로 ‘자연스러운 것’이다. 그러나 이러한 자연의 법칙을 외면한 현대사회는 과도한 경쟁으로 인한 불신과 인간소외, 빠르게 변화하는 생활의 속도와 높은 인구밀도, 복잡한 대중교통, 환경오염 등으로 병들어 가고 있다. 특히 인간은 더 나은 삶을 위한 ‘진보’의 수단으로 과학과 기술을 사용하였고, 이를 ‘물질적인 욕망의 충족’이라는 공동의 목표에서 찾으려고 하였다. 그 결과 자연에 대한 인간의 태도를 순응 하거나 공존하는 존재로서가 아닌 정복자로서 그 기본적 위치를 바꾸어 버렸다. 인간은 끊임없는 물질적 욕망으로 안락한 생활을 영위하는 듯하지만 그 뒤에 숨겨진 자연환경 오염으로 인한 위기와 은폐된 생존의 위협을 인식하지 못한 채 21세기를 맞았다. 어느 시대에나 산림을 남벌한 결과 산이 황폐해지는 경우가 있었고, 해양이나 대기, 토양 등에 폐기물을 무분별하게 배출하여 주변 환경이 오염되는 경우가 있었다. 그러나 현대사회의 환경오염은 인류의 생존을 위협할 정도로 무분별하고 전체적이라는 점에서 ‘환경 위기’라고 할 수 있다. 이에 대한 대안으로 인간의 자발적인 책임 의식에 근거한 자연과 인간 그리고 사회를 포함하는 ‘전체’에 대한 반성이 현대 사회에 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 현대사회의 ‘자연환경 오염 문제’의 원인을 인간의 과도한 물질적 욕망에 두고 이로 인해 파괴되고 오염되는 자연에 대한 경각심의 계기를 마련하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌 조사와 작품 제작 및 분석을 병행하였다. 인간환경으로 인한 자연환경 오염의 원인을 현대사회의 병폐와 실증자료를 통하여 연구하였다. 그리고 현대미술에서의 자연환경오염에 대한 표현과 자연환경오염을 바탕으로 하는 나의 작업을 연구 하였다. 작품 7점의 분석 및 표현 내용과 방법에서는 수질오염과 대기오염, 토양오염 그리고 소음으로 대두되고 있는 현대사회의 자연환경오염에 대한 경각심을 불러일으키고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 현대 사회의 만연하고 있는 물질만능주의 풍토로 인해 파괴되고 오염된 자연환경을 재인식하고자 한다.
