빛의 변화에 따른 도시 공간의 조형성 연구

Abstract

"What is Art?". Art can be described as a means to re-express human experience through creation of a form or forms by purposefully interpreting, analyzing and expressing by whatever means that seem suitable. Therefore, all artists attempt this re-expression by intensely concentrating on the feelings and inspiration earned through everyday life. An image creator is just such a person and is always capturing images for re-expression. I too, find the commodities of my re-expression from simple everyday life and thus the boundaries of my art life can be found everywhere and anywhere. However, the images I attempt to capture or rather not to lose, and thus end up as my work are the ones that make me look twice from simple repetitive activities to things that nobody would give a second thought to. Subtle changes that scream their attention and allow me to experience a new level of cognitive state are the boundaries of my work. In this regard a "city" is not only my place of residency but is a treasure box full of new experiences to be sought and to be pursued. In this Infinite place of accumulated experiences, I was particularly entranced with the images of light and it's spectrum that is somehow able to transform this forest of concrete into something incredibly beautiful. This captivation led to this work in which I have attempted to deny architecturally realistic re-expression but to show the complex order that is inherently a part of this city's structure through the process of aligning simple geometric lines and plane division re-grouping. Also, the internally filtered light and it's effect upon the city was used to express city life's comfort and warmth. In this work I have analyzed the "city" and it's "light" into two intrinsic forms. The two forms of the city are it's architectural plasticity and the internal emotions filtered down and reflected by this city image. The two forms of light are the light in time and light reflected emotionally. The attempt of this work was to analyze the different forms I have arbitrarily defined and to re-express what feelings that I was able to capture. One thing I would like to point out in advance is that the objects of study were scrutinized most subjectively as the aim of the study allowed for, and thus the contents of this paper may seem too subjective or even biased. The painting field, it's dimensionality and it's plasticity were constructed through the re-grouping of strong and detailed images captured within the city's inherent geometric order Also, the particular characteristic of ink in that it needs constant repetition and overlapping in order to express a certain desired density and detail, was used to express and to study the city's such behaviour, it's beauty and it's comfort. Lastly, the changing work and it's morphologically changing stages are explained. 9 pieces were selected for their changing methodology and each was analyzed for it's effectiveness in plasticity and also for flaws. External beauty of the city's architectural structure and the inner beauty that is filtered through the city's lights were heralded for future study.;"예술은 사물을 재생하거나 형식을 조성하며 경험을 표현하는 의도적인 인간활동"1)이다. 즉 예술가는 개인의 삶에 대한 인식과 관심 속에서 얻게되는 감흥을 적절한 매개를 통하여 새롭게 시각화한다. 다시 말해, 예술가는 이미지 창조자로서 일상의 경험 속에서 찾아지는 이미지를 바탕으로 새롭게 재창출한다는 것이다. 본인도 개인의 일상적 삶과 주변환경에서 얻어진 다양한 이미지를 창작활동의 소재로 삼고 있다. 그러나 일상의 삶 속에서 얻어지는 모든 이미지가 작품화되는 것이 아니라 반복되는 일상에서 쉽게 지나칠 수도 있는 평범한 대상의 섬세한 변화들을 주의 깊게 관찰함으로서 본인으로 하여금 새로운 시지각적 체험을 가능케 하는 이미지들만이 표현의 대상이 되는 것이다. 이러한 의미에서 '도시'라는 생활환경은 본인의 삶의 터전이자 창작의 원동력이 되는 공간이다. 일상적으로 흔히 볼 수 있는 풍경인 '도시'에서 축적되는 경험과 자아와의 관계 속에서, 자칫 획일적이고 메마르게 보일 수 있는 도시 공간을 다양한 모습으로 변화시키는 빛의 이미지에 본인은 무한한 감동을 받았다. 이러한 감동을 작품에서 외적으로는 현대문명의 일상적 환경이 된 도시의 건축공간을 사실적으로 표현하는 것이 아니라 기하학적인 단순한 직선과 면 분할의 재편성 과정을 통하여 도시의 구조에 내재되어있는 질서를 표현하고자 하고, 내적으로는 내면으로 여과된 빛과 도시의 이미지를 통해 도시 생활에서 가지게되는 익숙함, 편안함을 표현하고자 한다. 내용적 측면으로는 창작의 소재가 되는 빛과 도시를 각각, 빛은 시간의 흐름 속의 빛과 내면을 통해 여과된 빛 이미지로 나누고, 또한 도시를 조형으로서의 도시공간과 내적 정서로 여과된 도시 이미지로 구분하여 작품의 소재가 되는 이미지에 대한 본인의 감성을 서술 하고자 한다. 미리 밝혀두고 싶은 것은 본인의 작품에서 표현 하고자 하는 것은 개인적 경험에 의해 형성된 이미지이기 때문에 서술 된 내용 자체가 지극히 주관적이고도 편협 할 수 있다는 점이다. 화면의 조형적 측면에서는 복합적 시각을 통해 도시를 바라보면서 생기는 강렬한 이미지를 구체적 대상물에 내재된 기하학적인 질서 속에서 화면에 재구성하고 묵을 통한 중첩의 조형성과 겹침과 반복의 행위의 의미를 통해 도시생활의 아름다움을 표현한 화면의 조형성을 연구하고자 한다. 마지막으로는 작품의 변화단계를 개괄적으로 서술하고 그 중 방법적으로 변화의 과정이 보이는 9점을 선정하여 각각을 제시·분석함으로써 작품을 통해 표현된 조형성의 성과와 함께 문제점을 점검하고자 한다. 더 나아가 작품을 통해 표현하고자 한, 빛에 따라 변화하는 도시구조의 외적인 아름다움과 내면으로 여과된 빛과 도시가 만나면서 생기는 내적인 아름다움을 확실히 인식하여 앞으로의 작업에 도움을 주고자 한다.
