사회계층에 따른 가정환경이 아동의 사회적 능력에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 논문에서는 사회계층에 따라 가정환경과 아동의 사회적 능력이 어떤 차이를 나타내는지를 밝히고 나아가 사회계층에 따른 가정환경이 아동의 사회적 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울에 거주하는 만 5, 6세의 취학전 아동 304명과 그들의 어머니였다. 측정도구는 가정환경을 측정하기 위해서 취학전 아동용 HOME을 사용하였고 아동의 사회적 능력을 측정하기 위해서는 ISCS[P]를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 위해서 일원변량분석, 중다회귀분석을 하였으며 신뢰도 검증을 위해 Cronbach's α를 산출하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 사회계층에 따라서 가정환경의 각 하위변인들은 유의한 차이를 나타냈는데 사회계층이 높을수록 '발달을 위한 자극', '경험의 다양성', '환경의 물리적 측면', '놀이자료', '언어적 환경', '욕구를 만족시켜 주는 정도 및 허용성', '독립성의 육성', '정서적 분위기' 등의 점수는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 2. 사회계층에 따라서 아동의 사회적 능력중 긍정적 영역 점수는 차이를 보였고 사회계층별로 비교해보면 상층과 하층, 중층과 하층사이에서 아동의 사회적 능력중 긍정적 영역은 유의한 점수차이를 나타냈다. 3. 아동의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 가정환경의 하위변인의 종류와 그 영향력은 계층에 따라 각각 다르게 나타났다. 상층의 경우 가정환경은 아동의 사회적 능력에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 중층과 하층의 경우 가정에서 자극과 경험을 많이 제공할수록 아동은 사회적으로 활동적이며 낯선 상황이나 낯선이에게 잘 적응하고 협력적이었다. 또한 지나치게 과민한 반응과 비협조적인 행동을 적게 나타냈다.;The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of home environment and children's social competence according to social class. This study was also intended to examine how and to what extent home environment variables affect children's social competence. The subjects of this study were 304 preschool children aged 5 to 6 and their mothers in Seoul. HOME scale for preschooler and ISCS[P] were used to measure home environment and children's social competence respectively. For data analysis, F-test, multiple regression and Cronbach's α for reliability were performed. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were significant differences according to social class in home environment sub-variables. The higher social class was, The higher scores were in 'developmental stimulation', 'breadth of experience', 'aspects of physical environment', 'play materials', 'quality of language environment', 'need gratification and avoidance of restriction', 'fostering maturity and independence' and 'emotional climate'. 2. There was significant difference according to social class in positive factor of children's social competence. Children from high and middle social class got higher scores in positive factor of children's social competence than low social class. 3. There were significant differences according to social class in the kind and the degree of effect of home environment subvariables that affected children's social competence. In middle and low social class, children who had plentiful stimulation and experience in home environment were more socially active, well adaptive to strange situations and others, cooperative and less hypersensetive and uncooperative.
