회상을 일으키는 물의 이미지 표현

Abstract

All materials are the subject of imagination by their unique images. Water has been the material to human which arises free mental activities by its images like twinkling, transparency, and continuous flow. Water also has been the subject of artistic works and has given motives to artists as a means of expressing inner feelings. Of all images of water, the ripple arises imagination on the depth of water by the shape of concentric circles, and makes human reminisce. This reminiscence makes human experience mental freedom from limited time and space. This study highlights the various images of water which activates reminiscence. The purpose of this study is to visualize the Image of water activating the reminiscence process. This study examines theories of water which brings imagination, and the expression methods of surrealism. Also, this study describes the process of reminiscence by the image of ripple, and tries to symbolize the image of ripple. This study is conducted by investigating documents, producing and analyzing art works. Fourteen photographs related to this study are also presented. In producing art works, seven projects, which seek to induce viewers' attention to the intended space of each projects by repetitive shapes and stepwise change, are formatively analyzed in their content and representation. The results of this study are as follows; First, the process of reminiscence is metamorphosed through the depth image of water which induces from the image of ripple. The depth image is symbolized by the space inducing visual attention, and this space expresses the door to past. The depth space is expressed by cone shape which includes repetitive interposition and perspective. The movement of annual rings and the transparency of acryl and vinyl promotes psychological movement of time and space. Hanging the works gives the feeling of floating and induces surrealistic atmosphere.;모든 사물들은 각각의 고유한 이미지들을 통하여 인간의 내면에서 상상을 일으키는 몽상의 대상이 된다. 많은 몽상의 대상 중 물은 지속적인 흐름, 반짝임, 투명감 같은 다양한 이미지를 통해 독특한 몽상을 일으키며, 이것은 예술활동의 정신적인 모티브가 되어 물을 예술에 있어 표현의 대상이 되게 한다. 물의 다양한 모습 중 파문은, 확대되어 가는 동심원의 형상으로 물의 깊이에 대한 상상을 일으킴으로써, 인간이 내면 깊숙한 곳에서부터 회상하게 만들며, 이러한 회상은 인간의 사유 안에서 시공(時空)을 자유롭게 누리는 정신의 자유를 느끼게 한다. 본 연구는 회상을 일으키는 물의 이미지에 대한 관심으로부터 출발하였다. 본 연구의 목적은, 회상을 일으키는 물의 이미지를 가시화하는 데에 있다. 본 연구의 내용은, 이론적 배경으로는 몽상을 일으키는 물에 관하여 알아보았으며, 물의 이미지의 다양한 표현과 초현실주의에서 볼 수 있는 시공이미지의 표현을 알아보았다. 또한 파문을 통해 회상이 일어나는 과정을 서술하였으며, 물의 파문 이미지의 상징적 표현방법을 모색하였다. 연구방법에 있어서는, 문헌조사와 작품제작 및 분석을 기본도구로 하였으며, 본 연구의 표현 내용과 관련이 있는 작품 15점을 목적 표출하였다. 작품표현에 있어서는, 물의 파문 이미지를 형태의 반복과 점층을 통해 시각적 이끌림을 유도하도록 제작한 작품 7점을 내용과 조형적 측면에서 분석하였다. 제시된 작품 7점을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 회상으로 이끄는 물의 이미지는 파문으로 드러나는 깊이감을 통하여 상징적으로 표현되었다. 이러한 깊이감은 과거의 시간으로 향하는 통로를 상징적으로 표현한 것으로서 시공의 심리적 이동을 느끼게 하는, 형태의 반복, 중첩, 그리고 원근감이 강조된 나선의 형태를 이용하여 표현하였다. 나이테의 변화있는 곡선이 일으키는 나선의 움직임과, 아크릴과 비닐의 투명성으로 인한 공간의 상호침투 또한 시공연속체의 심리적 시공이동을 효과적으로 유도한다. 또한 작품의 설치에 있어서는 몇몇 작품들을 공간 중에 띄워 매달아 중력의 작용하는 상태와는 다른 위치에 놓았으며, 이러한 방법은 관람자에게 몽상 할 때와 같은 초현실적인 분위기를 느끼도록 한다.
