東洋畵의 現代的 空間解釋에 관한 硏究

Abstract

인간에게 있어 공간은 물질 세계와 관념 세계 극간을 교통하며 무한한 해석을 기다리는 삶의 現場으로서 존재한다. 그 안에서 인간은 삶의 체험을 통한 이미지를 생성해 내고 그것을 바탕으로 그 시대의 空間觀을 형성할 수 있는 무한한 창조의 가능성을 발휘해 왔기에 예술이란 쟝르가 조성될 수 있었다. 공간이 가지고 있는 이같은 무한한 잠재성으로 인하여 인간의 인식 능력이 확대되어 나가고 다양한 실험적 경험들이 점차 새로운 공간을 모색해 가기 시작하면서 인간의 인지력 발달은 현실을 벗어난 抽象化로의 도약을 심화시켜 나왔다. 따라서 이를 바탕으로 形成化된 공간 이미지들은 회화의 화면 공간 속으로 들어오면서 결국 회화는 인간의 모든 체험을 실현해 주는 정신적 실험의 場으로서의 역할을 일임하게 되는 것이다. 회화의 역사는 空間解釋의 역사라고 풀이할 수 있다.^(1)) 공간 체험의 다양한 이미지를 그려내는 회화라는 대리공간 속에서 인간은 단순한 물리적 차원의 공간으로부터 벗어나 多次元의 공간으로 자신의 인식을 확장시키고 자신의 존재 양식에 대한 이해를 화면 위에 새롭게 형상화 시킬 수 있었기 때문이다. 이제 회화 속 공간은 단순히 지리적 위치로서 파악될 수 있는 개념을 떠나 인간의 실재적 삶과 그 양식을 책임지고 아울러 실존에 따른 인식 체험을 형상화시키는 유기체로 자리잡게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 인식 구조와 가치관의 변화, 혹은 시대정신 등이 회화에 반영되어 나온 공간 개념의 이러한 특징을 지역적, 시대적으로 분류해 구체적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 동양인의 공간관이 담긴 동양회화를 연구과제로 삼은 본인은 동양 회화의 기저를 이루는 構圖와 餘白에 대한 의의를 다시금 재조명하여 회화의 공간 해석 방법을 전통적 방식과 그 형상화된 내용에 견주어 살펴봄으로서 본인의 작품 속 공간개념이 어떻게 現代的으로 접목되어 나가는지를 연구해 보고자 하였다. 또한 일상적인 생활공간 뿐만 아니라 時,空을 초월한 관념세계까지 형상화시킴으로서 화면을 외부 세계로 무한정 擴張할 수 있는 다차원의 열린 공간과, 그러한 공간과의 融和를 위해 동양의 '散點透視'를 선택하여 평면성을 지향하게 된 물상과의 관련된 의미를 기술해 보았다. 따라서 전통사상에 현대적 소재와 재료를 접목시킴으로서 동양회화만의 특징적 공간개념이 어떻게 새로운 공간세계를 조형적으로 형상화시켜 나가는가를 본 논문의 연구적 과제로 삼고자 한다.;For men, space exists as a field of life travelling between the two extremes - the world of materials and that of ideas, and waiting for infinite interpretation. In it, men generate images through their experiences, and show the potential for infinite creativity to form the conception of space of that era based on those images. By virtue of the infinite potentiality of the space, the cognition of men has become extended and various experimental experiences are searching for a new space by degrees. And the development of cognition of men virtually has promoted the abstraction not restricted within the boundary of reality. Therefore, space images formed on the basis of these come to be included within the space of painting, and ultimately paintings begin to play a role of the field of mental experiments in which all the human experiences can be realized. The history of painting is also a history of the interpretation of space. In the substitutional space of painting in which men can generate various images of space experiences, men can escape from the mere physical dimension of space, but expand their recognition to multi-dimensional space, and they can represent their understanding of their way of existence newly on the screen. Now, the space in painting is not only a simple geographical location but a organic form which takes charge of the way of actual life of men, and represent the cognitive experiences based on the human existence. In this paper, I'll classify the characteristics of space conceptions, which have been formed according the reflection of cognitive structure, the modification of way of thought, and the spirit of the age on painting, into areas and eras, and illustrate them specifically. Especially as I decide the Oriental paintings which contain the idea of space of the oriental men as my research theme, I'll reilluminate the meaning of composition and blank which are the basis of the Oriental painting, compare the method of space interpretation of painting with traditional methods, and will finally study how the space conception in my works can be juxtaposed with modern space conceptions. Besides, by representing the world of ideas which transcends the time and space as well as routine living spaces, I'll extend the space in paintings and show the multi-dimensional open space which can be expanded indefinitely to outer world. And I select oriental "Sanjumtoosi" for harmonizing these spaces, and describe the meaning concerned with image of matter which pursues to flatten its space. Therefore by grafting modern themes and materials into traditional ideas, I'll mainly demonstrate how the peculiar space conception of the Oriental paintings can represent new world of space formatively.
