Marie Rambert에 관한 연구

Abstract

Though England had lead the development of European ballet with its development of Masque in 16 century, its role in ballet gradually declined with the appearance of the Republican Government of Cromwell, and since then it had been immersed chiefly in commercial promotion for a long time without a developing ground. But from the start of 20century British dance has developed over and over again and England developed into the world center of dance, and Marie Rambert lead the development of modern ballet with her establishment of the first dance company in England in 1926. With the start of supervision of Marie Rambert dancers composed of the pupils in Rambert School of Ballet in 1920, she contributed herself to the growth of modern ballet in England through the Ballet Rambert attaching importance to the choreographic variety and creativity and devoted herself to the development of modern dance since its transferring into a modern dance company in 1966. Therefore, in this study of the achievement of Rambert, I aimed to observe mainly her activities in Ballet Rambert, and for this purpose, first I examined the historical background of British dance, second I invested her life and activities, third I observed her activities and achievements through Ballet Rambert. Rambert was an improtant figure who had various activities as a dancer, choreographer, educator, and art director. Rambert who started her ballet activities in carnest with the deep impression from Isadora Duncan's dance played an active part in the field as a dancer with excellent musical sense and nimble leaping power on the base of enrhythmics and classic ballet. In addition, even though she lacked creative choreographic talents a little, she showed a great excellence in recomposition and arrangement of the works. Rambert established Rambert School of Ballet, began to cultivate excellent disciples and was active in the performances of ballet through the Marie Rambert Dancers composed of her pupils. Rambert not only established the Ballet Rambert based on the various experiences and talents, but also showed remarkable techniques in the team operation, preparing repertoires and the production of the works. And she developed the dance company that she established into one of the best dance company in England on the ground of her passion for ballet and her fine character. thus, the activities and achievements of Rambert through her Ballet Rambert can be summarized as follows. First, Rambert established the first British dance company in England, prepared the base of ballet development, and grew a real ballet as an original art with her leading activities in the ballet performance. Second, by producing various new ballet repertoires, Rambert played much in the role of the British modern ballet growth. Third, by transferring the Ballet Rambert into a modern dance company, Rambert prepared the developing ground of modern dance. Fourth, Rambert produced so many original choreographers and dancers through the Rambert School of Ballet and Ballet Rambert. Fifth, Rambert took the Leading role in the expansion of dance music and in the development of dance design.;16세기 가면무를 발전시켜 유럽 무용의 발전을 주도하였던 영국은 크롬웰의 공화정을 맞아 쇠퇴하기 시작하였으며 이후 독자적인 발전 기반을 갖지못한 채 오랫동안 상업적인 흥행에만 몰두하게 되었다. 그러나 20세기에 이르러 영국의 무용은 성장을 거듭하여 세계적인 중심지로 발전하기 시작하였으며, 마리 람버트는 영국 최초의 무용단인 람버트발레단을 설립하여 독자적인 무용 공연과 다양하고 창의적인 작품 활동을 주도하면서 영국의 무용 발전에 지대한 기여를 하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 람버트에 대해 연구함에 있어 람버트발레단을 통한 활동을 중점적으로 살펴보는데 그 목적을 두었으며, 이를 위해 첫째 영국무용의 역사적 배경에 대해 고찰하고, 둘째 람버트의 생애 및 예술활동에 대해 연구하였으며, 셋째 람버트발레단의 활동을 통한 그녀의 역할 및 업적에 대해 살펴보았다. 람버트는 무용수, 안무가, 교육자, 예술감독으로서 다양한 활동을 한 인물이다. 이사도라 덩컨의 무용에 감명을 받아 본격적으로 무용을 시작한 그녀는 율동체조와 클라식발레를 기반으로 하여 탁월한 음악적 감각과 경쾌한 도약력을 가진 무용수로 활동하였다. 또한 그녀는 안무가로서 창조적인 안무능력은 다소 부족하였지만 작품을 재구성하고 정리하는데 훌륭한 재능을 발휘하였다. 람버트는 람버트발레학교를 설립하여 교육자로서 뛰어난 제자들을 양성하기 시작하였으며 자신의 학생들로 구성된 마리람버트무용단을 통해 활발한 공연 활동을 하였다. 그녀는 이러한 다양한 경험과 능력을 기반으로 람버트발레단을 설립하여 예술감독으로서 단체의 운영과 레파토리의 제작과 연출에 뛰어난 기량을 발휘하였으며 무용에 대한 열정과 훌륭한 인격을 바탕으로 이를 영국 최고의 무용단으로 성장시켰다. 람버트발레단을 통한 람버트의 활동과 업적은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영국 최초의 무용단인 람버트발레단을 설립하여 발전의 기반을 마련하였으며 독자적인 예술로서의 무용 공연을 선도하여 진정한 발레예술을 성장시켰다. 둘째, 다양하고 새로운 발레 레파토리를 제작하여 영국의 현대발레의 육성에 많은 역할을 담당하였다. 셋째, 람버트발레단을 현대무용단으로 전환시켜 현대무용 발전의 토대를 마련하였다. 넷째, 람버트발레학교와 람버트발레단을 통해 영국의 수많은 독자적인 안무가와 무용수를 양성하고 배출하였다. 다섯째, 무용음악 영역의 확장과 무용디자인의 발전에 주도적인 역할을 담당하였다.
