Perlman과 Compton-Galaway의 문제해결 모델의 비교와 적용 가능성에 관한 연구

Abstract

The major purposes of this study are to compare two well known Problem Solving theories-Perlman's Problem Solving Model and Compton-Galaway's Problem Solving Model-and to find the possibilty of which each model may be more effectively applied in Korean society. To this ends, firstly rationale of each theory using the problem solving concepts is reviewed and the theoretical backgrounds of Perlman's model and Compton-Galaway's model are reviewed. In chapter Ⅲ, according to the framework of Roberts and Nee. two models are compared by seven main aspects: behavioral science foundations, problem, client, social work relationship, the initial phase, assessment, treatment principles and methods. From the result of comparative study, it is found two models are idencital in regarding social work practice consisting of a problem solving process. But two models can make defferent argumentds mainly due to the difference in focus of intervention. Perlman's model place on an individual person, which Compton-Galaway's model emphasis on simultaneous dual focus of the transactions between people and their social and physical environments. Consequently Compton-Galaway's model may be evaluated as the more advanced social work practice model. And, to test the applicability of two models to Korea, the applicable areas of each model are reviewed. And it is founded Compton-Galaway' s model, though advanced in theory, does not superior to Perlman's model in its applicability in Korean society. This conclusion may be resulted from the dual structure in social psychological context and Korean's unique view point of value. It is belived that Perlman's model is more useful one in dealing with rather private problems in which client's privacy should be protected. So it can be more applicable to handle problems or clients such as unwed mothers, juvenile delinquents, the students with behavioral problems and client with emotional disturbances, etc.. Meanwhile. the targets of Compton-Galaway's model in Korean society may be founded in the case of client system in which clients agree to handle the problem in an open system so that connection of the problem with other system is possible. In this respect, it may be more applicable to handle such problems as children's problems, intrafamilial relationship problems, problems between a parent and a child, marital problems, school and home behavior problems, environmental problems and social work service in public welfare, etc.. Finally, since the Korean society is in transitional period in which old regime co-exist with new one, it is desirable two model-traditional Perlman's model and new Compton-Galaway's model- can be usefully applied while the proper selection of two model by the different targets is desirable. It is needed to verify the practical effectiveness through the experimental research or case study when two models are applied to our clients.;본 논문은 사회사업 실천 모델인 Perlman의 문제해결 모델과 Compton-Galaway의 문제해결 모델을 Roberts와 Nee의 비교 변인에 따라 비교하고 그 특성에 따라 한국 사회에서의 적용 가능한 대상을 알아 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이 목적을 위해 이론적 배경에서는 문제해결이론의 이론적 합리성을 밝히고 Perlman의 문제해결 모델과 Compton-Galaway의 문제해결 모델을 각각 살펴보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 비교 변인에 입각하여 두 모델을 이론적 기반, 문제, 클라이언트, 사회사업 관계, 초기 단계, 사정 단계, 치료 원리 및 기법의 7가지 요소에 따라 비교하였다. 그 결과 두 모델은 사회사업을 문제해결 과정으로 보는데서 일치하며, 사회사업 이론의 발달 과정의 시대적 배경의 차이와 이론적 기반의 차이에 따라 개입의 촛점을 Perlman은 개인에게 두는 반면 Compton-Galaway는 인간과 환경의 상호작용, 즉 동시적 이중 초점을 두는데서 여러 가지 차이가 비롯되며 Compton-Galaway의 모델이 보다 넓은 관점의 발전적 실천 모델임을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 두 모델의 적용 가능성을 알아 보기 위해 두 모델의 대상에 따라 우리 사회에서 적용 가능한 영역을 살펴 보았다. Compton-Galaway의 모델은 이론적으로는 발전적 실천 모델이지만 우리 나라 사회심리적 상황의 이중 구조와 가치관의 특성으로 볼때 Perlman의 모델보다 적용 범위가 넓다고 할 수 없으며 두 모델의 대상에 따라 한국에서의 적용 가능한 영역을 다음과 같이 예상해 볼 수 있다. Perlman의 모델은 자아 기능이 약하고 문제 해결의 자원을 갖고 있지 않은 개인들로서 특히 알려지기 원치 않는 비밀스러운 문제에 적합하여 미혼모, 비행 청소년, 윤락 범법자, 부적응 학생, 정신 건강 문제를 가진 사람들에게 적용 가능성이 예상되고, Compton-Galaway의 모델은 클라이언트 체계가 문제를 개방적 상황에서 다루는데 동의한 경우, 문제와 관련된 여러 체계와 접촉이 가능한 경우에 적용성이 예상되어 아동 문제, 부부 문제, 환자 가족의 상담, 가족 관계 문제, 환경 상의 문제, 공공 부조에서의 사회사업 서비스 등에서 적용성을 예상해 볼 수 있다. 우리 사회는 사회 변화의 과도기적 상황으로 옛 구조와 새 구조가 공존하는 상태이므로 전통적 문제해결 모델인 Perlman의 모델과 신문제해결 모델인 Compton-Galaway의 모델을 절충적 시각에서 선택적으로 활용하는 것이 바람직하다고 여겨진다.
