色彩의 Harmony 를 通한 Image 硏究

Abstract

회화속에 나타난 표현은 그것이 어떠한 묘사방법이든 왜곡(deformation)이 그 특징점이라 하겠다. 그것은 인상파 이후, Renaissance형식을 완전히 탈피하고, 형이나 색채가 평면체계적으로 지향되어가는 왜곡이라 할 수 있다. 20C 현대회화의 두 조류인 Modernism과 anti-Modernism은 그들 조류적 목적에 따라 왜곡이 이루어지며 두 조류중 전자는 형태자체의 조형적 문제에 목적을 둔 야수파, 입체파에서의 왜곡이며, 후자는 내용전달을 목적으로 하는 표현주의, 초현실주의에서의 왜곡이 이루어짐을 말한다.^(1) 2차대전이후의 미술의 경향은 최소한의 표현으로 형을 왜곡하여 각각의 개념들을 전달코자 하였다. 그 결과 형체의 분석, 혹은 색의 분석이 과감하게 시도되어 Ce′zanne나 Picasso의 분석시기의 작품은 그 원류를 이루고 있다. Pop Art부터는 그 결과 표현을 가하지 않는 그림, 즉 분석의 시도는 극단적 예술형태들을 등장시키게 된다. 대지예술, 개념예술, 환경예술, Minimal Art, Monochrome 등으로 이어져 Yves Klein의 군청색 그림, Ad Reinhardt의 검정그림 등이 등장한다. 이러한 미술양식의 발전은 70년대에 이르러서 깊이도 구성도 image도 없어진 평면화된 화면과 감축적이며 분석의 결과 canvas의 틀과 표면 그 자체 물질적 재료에 관심을 갖고 그림의 목적을 실현하려 하였다. 이렇게 각기 복잡한 과정을 거친 왜곡의 흐름은 내용위주이건 형태위주 이건 단순화의 방향으로 전개되어 왔다. 본인의 작품속에도 그러한 양식의 복합성이 내포되어 졌으며 동시에 과거 양식들의 축적속에서 그러한 요소들이 되풀이 되어졌다고 볼 수 있다. 주축을 이룬 내용은 image의 본질성에 접근하는 Gaston Bacheard 의 미학이며 harmony를 추구하는 J.M.W. Turner의 색채론이다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 본인의 인식이 심화되고 보다 깊이있는 회화표면 추구에 도움이 되길 바란다.;The main characteristic of expression which is revealed in fine arts may be a kind of deformation, whatever form of description it may take. Such deformation is designed to turn form or color into plane and system, totally getting out of the Renaissance style since the period of Impressionism. The two main schools of modern fine art in the twentieth century, modernism and anti-modernism, make the deformation according to their objectives. The former is deformation from Fauvism and Cubism whose objective is to mould form itself; the latter, deformation from Expressionism and Sur-realism that aim at conveying an idea. The modern fine art after World War II has made efforts to convey its own idea by deforming form with minimum expression. In this way fine art in this period decisively tried to analyze formation or color with works of art analyzing the masterpieces of Ce´zanne and Picasso forming the main trend. Such radical form of fine art as paintings without expression had appeared as a result since the advent of Pop Art. Land Art, Conceptual Art, Environmental Art, Minimal Art and Monochrome followed it and at the same time navy blue-colored paintings by Yves Klein and black-colored paintings by Ad Reinhardt made their appearances. As the style of fine art develops as above, artists has tried to actualize objectives of their paintings with keen interest in flattened canvas without having deepness, composition and image and in material itself of which support and surface of canvas consist. The development of deformation has gone through above-mentioned complicated procedure and heads for simplification whether its main theme attaches importance to contents and form or not. Such complexity of artistic style appears in my works and atmosphere of color and space prevailing over my works can be said to the patterned after the style of Naturalism or Romanticism. My thesis is mainly based on aesthetics of Gaston Bachelard and color theory of J.M.W. Turner. 1 hope this study may contribute to my further understanding of fine art and to my search for deepened artistic work.
