Abstract

본 논문은 하나님을 찬양하는 수단인 종교무용이 기독교의 역사속에서 점차로 쇠퇴되어진 이후로 오늘날에 와서는 거의 찾아볼 수 없게된 원인에 대하여 기독교 전통 안에서 고찰한 다음 오늘날 기독교 안에서의 종교무용이 갖는 의미와 교회안으로 복귀 될 수 있는 가능성을 고찰하며 예술로서의 무용과 어떻게 관계를 맺을 수 있는지에 대하여 고찰한 것이다. 무용은 노동을 제외한 삶 전체의 움직임으로 우리나라에서 사용되는 춤이라는 용어와 같은 의미로서 사용하였다. 종교무용의 기원은 인류역사와 함께 그 출발점을 같이 하는 것으로 춤은 삶과 직결된 것이다. 구약시대와 신약시대를 성서를 중심으로 고찰하여 볼 때 많은 춤들이 나타나고 있으나 본고에서는 J.B Gross와 W.O.E Oesterley가 분류한 것을 중심으로 춤이 사용되어진 상황에 따라 구약시대의 춤으로는 행진의 춤, 위안의 수단으로서의 춤, 절기의 춤으로, 신약시대의 춤으로는 서민생활에서의 춤, 상류생활에서의 춤, 천국 비유에서의 춤, 결혼의 춤, 초대 교회에서의 춤으로 분류하여 언급하기로 하겠다. 유대인의 생활 속에서 몸과 영혼이 하나가 되어서 하나님을 찬양하는 요소로 춤이 추어졌다. 그러나 기독교가 전파될 때에 헬라의 이원론적 사고와 스토아적 금욕주의의 사상적 배경 그리고 이교도적인 인습으로 인하여 점점 타락되어졌으며 나중에는 병적인 행위로까지 왜곡(歪曲)되게 되었다. 이에 대하여 교회 회의에 의해서 점차로 금지되었다. 기독교에서의 춤은 영과 육의 통전적(integrity)인 의미로서 하나님을 찬양하는 구속(救贖)의 과정이며 해방의 의미를 갖는다. 또한 구원에 대한 기쁨의 표현으로서 생생한 예배의 만남을 갖게 하는 것이며 기독교의 종교무용은 예술로서의 무용의 극치로 승화시킬 수 있다.;A Study is made in this thesis on how the sacred dance praising the God is hardly watched today within the Christian tradition, since the dance gradually declined in the Christian history, on the meaning the sacred dance has in today's Christianity and on the possibility for the dance to come back to the church and further on how the sacred dance can relate to a dance as an art. The terminology of a dance has been used in the same meaning as the korean word "CHOOM" that has been used in Korea to mean all actions of an entire life, While the origin of the sacred dance began with the commencement of the human history, dance relates direct to a life. Dances may be studied centering around the testament. ages. According to J.B Gross and W.O.E. Oesterly the old Testament dances break down to the sacred Processional dance, the dances in celebration of victory, the dance en circling a sacred object, the dance as a means of cosol.-ation, while the New Testament dances break down to the dance in the popular living, the dance in the upper- class living, the dance i n comparison to Heaven, the dance during Wedding Ceremony, and the dance of the early church. In the Jewish living, a dance was conducted as one of the elements for praising God in unity of body and soul. Due to the background of the dualistic thought and the stoic asceticism of Hella at the time of spreading Christianity, and the herectic practices, however, a dance deteriorated down to a pathological action fina1ly. As the result, dance was gradally prohibitted by the church conference. In conclusion, a dance in the Christan church signifies the integrity of body and soul, and is the process of cialvation and also means liberation. In addition, the Christian sacred dance comes to encounter the vivid cnapel as an expression of Joy and can be sublimated to the high-test reach of arts
