교수매체 활용에 있어서 학습자 적성과 교수매체 속성에 관한 문헌연구

Abstract

교육공학 분야의 교수매체 연구유형 중에서 교수매체 속성을 중심으로 하는 연구는 교수매체를 영화나 TV와 같이 총체적인 것으로 보지 않고 매체의 움직임, 색조, 입체 등과 같은물리적인 매체변수로 간주하거나 혹은 매체외 심리적인 효과 측면에서 본 인간의 정보처리활동과 관련된 대체기능 등으로 개념화한다. 한편 교육에 있어서 학습자의 적성과 교수처치간의 상호작용연구는 학습의 효율화와 개념화를 실천시키기 위해 학습자의 적성유형과 부합되는 가장 적절한 교수방법을 탐색하는 것과 관련된다. 본 연구는 교육공학 분야의 교수매체 속성중심의 연구와 학습자의 적성 및 교수처치간의 상호작용연구를 결합하여, 효율적인 교수방법을 위한 교수매체 활용에 있어서 학습자의 적성과 교수매체 속성과의 관련성에 관하여 연구 고찰 하였다. 본 논문의 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1920년대 초 시청각교육 운동이 시작된 이래 진행되어온 교수매체에 대한 연구의 이론적 동향을 교수매체 효율성의 비교연구와 교수매체 속성연구로 나누어 그 주요한 이론적 특성에 대해 고찰하였다. 둘째 , 최근의 연구경향인 교수매체 속성연구의 특성을 띈 학습자의 적성과 교수매체와의 상호작용에 관한 이론적 배경으로서 먼저 일반적인 이론적 근거가 되는 적성-처치간의 상호작용에 대해 알아보고, 학습자의 적성을 일반정신능력, 인지양식, 인성특성의 세 범주로 나누어 고찰하였다. 셋째, 학습자의 특정한 적성유형과 속성을 중심으로한 교수매체와는 어떤 관련성이 있는지에 대해 관련 실험 연구물들의 연구결과를 고찰 분석하였다. 연구결과를 종합적으로 분석해 볼 때 학습자의 적성과 교수매체 속성과의 관련성은 결국 학습자의 정보처리능력과 매체의 대체기능과 같은 처치효과와의 관련성으로 집약된다. 즉 학습자가 학습과제를 해결하는데 필요한 정보처리기술을 소유하지 못한 경우 교수매체와 같은 외적인 교수방법을 필요로 하게 된다. 일반적으로 적성이 낮은 학습자는 이러한 범주에 속하는데, 이와같이 학습자의 미약한 정보처리기술을 매체의 특정한 속성양식으로서 대신해주는 것을 매체의 대체기능이라고 한다. 반면 학습자가 학습과제에 관련된 정보처리기술을 이미 소유하고 있고 이를 적절하게 적용할 수 있을때는 외부적인 교수방법을 필요로 하지 않는다. 적성이 높은 학습자는 이런 범주에 속하며 이 경우 매체의 대체기능은 이들의 학습을 저해하는 요소가 될 수 있다. 따라서 적성이 높은 학습자는 그들 자신의 방법대로 그리고 그들 자신의 능력에 의해 정보를 처리해 나가도록 하는 교수매체의 속성이 유리하며 적성이 낮은 학습자는 그들의 미약한 능력을 보정해줄 수 있는 교수매체 속성이 효과적이다. 학습자의 특정한 적성유형과 학습과제를 해결하는데 필요한 정보처리기술, 그리고 이 둘 사이를 연결시켜주는 교수매체의 대체 가능성 사이의 상호작용연구는 교수-학습 과정에 있어서 매체의 기능을 더 잘 이해할 수 있도록 도와줄 것이며, 더욱 효율적인 매체활용을 위해 합리적이며 실제적인 지침을 선정해 줄 수 있을 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to review the instructional media research and theoretical backgrounds between learner's aptitude and instructional treatment in learning, and to analyse the finding on experimental studies concerning the relationship between specific types of learner's aptitude and the instructional media attributes in applying the instructional media for the effective instructional methods. The contents of this study are as follows; 1. To review the major characteristics of theoretical trends in researches on instructional media which have been progressed since the audiovisual instructional movement appeared in the early of 1920. 2. To review the research method of learner's aptitude-instructional treatment interaction that is the theoretical source as the background for mutual interaction between learner's aptitude and instructional media attributes. In the learner's aptitude, general mental ability, cognitive style and personality trait are discussed. 3. To analyse the findings on experimental studies concerning the relationship between specific types of learner's aptitude and the instructional media attributes. The findings are summarized as follow; When learner has previously acquired a required information processing skill and can correctly apply it at the required stage in the solution of the task, no external instructional methods are required. A learner of high aptitude typically would fall into this category and in fact, in instances of supplantation function of media attribute or instructional directed processing, they frequently exhibit a decrement in performance. On the other hand, it is effective to compensate for a low aptitude learner's deficiency in the information processing skill by providing the supplantation or external instructional methods. Information processing skill which is necessary on performing learning task, specific aptitude type and the study on the mutual interaction between supplantation capabilities of instructional media concerning these two will help to understand the function of media in the teaching-learning process, and present the reason able and practical guide for more efficient use of instructional media.
