사각형을 응용한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

예술은 인간이 표현활동을 시작하면서부터 시대의 상황을 반영하는 역할을 하면서 오늘날에 이르기까지 발전해 왔다. 현대의 급변하는 사회와 외부의 가시적인 세계를 표현하기 위한 현대미술은 강렬한 표현욕구의 충족을 위해 내면세계를 표출하였다. 그 중 기하학적 형태의 표현은 자연의 질서에서 추출된 순수한 정신적 차원에서의 창조적 형태로 대두된다. 또한 인간상황에 대한 내면세계를 대변하는 기하학적 형태는 인간의 표현능력에 있어 우주 만물을 상징화시킬 수 있는 잠재력이 있다. 본 연구는 외부적인 힘을 받아 생성과 소멸의 법칙에 의해 변화되는 풍화작용, 유수, 지각변동 등과 같은 자연현상을 상징화하여 기하학적 형태로 표현하고자 하는 동기에서 비롯되었다. 따라서 기하학적 형태 중의 하나인 사각형에 대해 힘으로 인한 변형을 시도하여 내면적 심상을 조형적으로 표현하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본론에서는 현대미술에서 나타나는 예술의 의미와 표현방향을 미학적 측면에서 살펴보았고, 자연현상으로 풍화작용, 유수, 지각변동을 고찰하여 지형이 변화되는 원인을 알아보았다. 또한 사각형을 표현하기 위해서 먼저 기하학적 형태를 형상화하여 보고, 사각형의 형태를 이용한 예술작품을 제시하면서 조형성을 살펴보았다. 작품디자인 과정에서는 사각형들이 결합된 조형물 안에서 외적인 힘에 의해 역동적으로 변형이 나타나는 모습을 전개하였고, 자연현상의 이미지를 가미시켜 표현하였다. 제작 방법은 힘으로 인해 변형된 형태를 표현하기가 자유로운 판성형과 이장주입성형을 주로 하였고, 부분적으로 속파기와 coiling 기법도 사용하였다. 태토는 다양한 변형에도 소성시까지 형태가 잘 유지되는 석기질 점토와 형태의 선을 깨끗하게 나타내기 위해서 고려도토를 사용하였다. 부분적으로는 석기질 점토에 금속산화물이 첨가된 착색점토도 사용하였다. 표면처리는 작품과 소지의 특성에 맞게 건성유약(Dry Organic Texture), 투명유, MnO_(2), CO, Fe_(2)O_(3), Cr_(2)O_(3)이 첨가된 검정유, Fe_(2)O_(3)이 첨가된 베이지유 등의 고화도 유약과 투명유, Fe_(2)O_(3)이 첨가된 흑갈색유 등의 저화도 유약을 다양하게 시유하였고 질감을 줄 수 있는 테라시질라타(Terra Sigillate)도 사용하였다. 소성은 1.5㎥ 도염식 가스가마에서 900℃를 최고온도로 8시간 동안 1차소성을 한 후에, 2차소성은 주로 1.5㎥ 도염식 가스가마에서 1250℃를 최고온도로하여 9시간 산화염 소성하였다. 본 연구를 통해 사각형은 내적인 정신세계를 반영할 수 있는 현대적 감각에 맞는 독창적이고 개성적인 소재임을 확인하였고, 사각형태는 흙의 부드러운 성질을 이용하여 변형하였을 때 역동적인 형태로 변화됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 흙의 풍부한 재질감을 표현하는 것은 도자표현에 중요한 요소임을 확인하였으므로 앞으로 이 연구를 바탕으로 작품제작과 형태연구에 발전할 수 있는 계기가 되기를 바란다.;As the human race started the expressional activities which have played the role of the reflection of correspondent historical circumstances, art has developed up until the present. To represent the rapidly changing modern society and the visible outside of the world, the contemporary art has represented their insides to fulfill the strong expressional desire. Among the representations of the contemporary art, the form of geometry became the creative form in the pure mental level which is extracted from the order of nature. And the form of geometry which shows the insides of human related circumstances has the potential energy to symbolize the universe as a human's power of expression. This research has its origin in the motivated symbolization of natural phenomena such as crustal activities, streams, atmospheric movements, etc. These natural phenomena are changed by the rule of formation and extinction being affected by the pressure from outside. Thus, The form of geometry, quadrangle is used to express internal imageries with the ways of the formative art. In the body, the research describes a meaning of an Art in terms of contemporary art and its intended direction through the aesthetical point of view. In the design process, within the formative art structured by combined quadrangles, the research shows the aspect of dynamical formation, and it added the imagery of natural phenomena. as the methods of its creation, the formative art mostly used slip casting and slab building, it also used the method of inner part carving and coiling as a part. Stoneware clay, the Koryo-stoneware clay body was applied to clay-body for its varied transforming temperament. For the texture expression, colored clay which was mixed with oxidised substance has been partially used. For the surface, both high and low temperature glazes such as dry glaze, clear glaze, black glaze, beigi glaze and clear glaze were used and terra sigillate was chosen for the texture expression. The work has been fired in 1.5m3 gas kiln for 8 hours. The first firing was a biscuit firing reaching a temperature of 900℃. The glaze firing was fired in 1.5m3 gas kiln for 9 hours and was fired to a temperature of 1250℃. After I've done my work, I have discovered that the quadrangle could help artists to enhance their capability in describing their originated inner world by implicating boundless expressional objects. And I have also realized when rectangle is transformed by soft clay with good understanding of its temperaments it resulted in vigorous formation. I believe that this study has showed the richness of clay, in various expression, is one of the most essential elements in the ceramic expression.
