상징미학의 기호학적 접근방법에 의한 환경디자인 모형사례 연구

Abstract

The development-logic based on a mechanistic world-view has brought advancement of the human civilization. The nature, however, has been destroyed imprudently and human beings' existence comes to crisis. At this time that a whole and systematic ecological world-view is on the rise, human beings ought to create new sustainable culture which can overcome this crisis of civilization. Human culture is an assemblage made by gathering human beings' energy. At the times of new paradigm, the culture formed with new energy should be created. A new energy which will change chaotic and polluted environment is infinite and aesthetic one keeping the highest value. So, this study progressed on the assumption that the creating of culture by aesthetic energy to overcome human beings' crisis can strengthen his viability. Environment is a system, an information system inducing human behavior and culture itself. After paradigm is converted into the ecological world-view, the approach to create culture is also being transformed traditional design method into ecological one. Therefore, this study aims at the beautification of environment by minimizing environmental impact that is secondary meaning of ecological design. This is interested in the aesthetical quality of environment and related to environmental meaning. Consequently, a researcher chose symbolic aesthetics seeking for translating into art through the understanding of environment as a standards of this study. This researches progressed with a theoretical study through reference and a model case study of environment design on the concrete design application. Because environmental design should be based on the positive theory, a researcher structured symbolic aesthetics on the basis of positive perception theory. At this step, a researcher judged ecological perception theory attaching importance to the system as a theoretical frame that can overcome the limit of discussion on existent symbolic aesthetics and presented symbolic aesthetics based on this. Symbolic aesthetics by ecological theory of perception, human preference is related to existence and the formation of place-identity and cognitive map is delt importantly in this study. Symbolic aesthetics is a study on environmental meaning by regarding symbology as a methodological frame and defined architecture as a visual language system after discussing the importance of signified. A researcher saw the object of study to apply research method set up in chapter 2 & 3 as a sign and progressed a model case study of environment design. Analyzing cultural context, researcher chose 'k' tourism information center as the object of study to support the status of Seoul as a informational central place by leisure and power shift in 21'st century. By the decisive meaning determinism, a researcher chooses meaning uniting 21'st century, Seoul and tour information center as movement and collects signified about this in art history. As a method to create new visual language, a researcher regarded visual language seen in art as a language system and derived a design concept by applying the encoding process seen in language system like this to environmental design via researcher's individual usage. The possibility of expanding and evolving the visual language system of environmental design lies potential in a discoursing system presented by a researcher. Applying the analysis of signified about movement and the design concept by collection of signifier, a researcher presented concrete design model case and verified if the meaning that he intended was transmitted on the basis of Gremas' pragmatics. By this study, a researcher could understand the reciprocal relationship between symbolic aesthetics and formal one, and know that symbolic aesthetics based on ecological theory of perception as a framework to persue the beautification of environment is resonable. As a approach to symbolic aesthetics by ecological theory of perception. A researcher could confirmed usefulness and possibility of semicomic approach.;기계론적 세계관을 배경으로한 발전논리는 인류문명의 진보를 가져다 주었다. 그러나 제한에너지에 의한 진보로 자연은 무분별하게 파괴되었고 인류는 생존의 위기를 맞게 되었다. 전일적이고 시스템적인 생태학적 세계관이 대두되고 있는 지금의 시점에서 인류는 이러한 문명의 위기를 극복할 수 있는 지속가능한 새로운 문화를 창조해야 한다. 인류의 문화는 인류의 에너지가 모여 만든 집합체이다. 따라서 새로운 패러다임의 시대에는 새로운 에너지로 형성된 문화를 참조하여야 한다. 무질서하고 오염된 환경을 변화시킬 새로운 에너지는 무한하며 최고의 가치를 지닌 미(美)에너지이다. 따라서 본 연구는 인류의 위기를 극복하기 위해 미에너지에 의한 문화창조로 인류의 생존능력을 강화시킬 수 있다는 전제하에 연구를 진행하였다. 환경은 하나의 시스템으로 인간의 행태를 유도하는 정보체계이며 문화 그 자체이다. 생태학적 세계관으로 패러다임이 전환된 이후 문화를 창조하는 디자인 접근방법도 전통적인 디자인 접근방법에서 생태학적 디자인 접근방법으로 전환되고 있다. 본 연구는 생태학적 디자인의 2차적 의미인 환경적 충격을 최소화하는 환경의 예술화를 지향하는 환경디자인 접근방법을 제시한다. 이는 환경의 미적 질을 강화시키는 접근방법으로 환경의 의미와 연관된다. 따라서 본 연구는 환경의 의미에 대한 이해를 통해 환경의 예술화를 지향하는 상징미학의 기호학적 접근방법을 환경디자인의 새로운 접근방법으로 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구는 문헌고찰을 통한 이론연구와 구체적인 디자인적용에 관한 환경디자인 모형사례 연구로 진행되었다. 환경디자인은 실증적 이론에 근거해야 하므로 연구자는 상징미학을 실증적 지각이론을 근거로 구조화하였다. 이 과정에서 환경지각의 총체적인 과정을 중요시하는 생태학적 지각이론을 기존의 상징미학에 대한 논의의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 이론적 틀로 판단하였고 이를 근거로한 상징미학의 기호학적 접근방법을 통해 하나의 환경디자인 모형을 제시하였다. 생태학적 지각이론에 의한 상징미학에서 인간의 선호는 생존과 연관되므로 장소성과 인지도의 형성이 본 연구에서 중요하게 다루어진다. 연구자는 환경의 의미를 구체적으로 다루기 위해 기호학을 방법론적 틀로 삼아 환경의 의미작용을 이해하고 기표의 중요성을 논의한 후 건축을 하나의 시각언어체계로 정의하였다. 2장과 3장에서의 이론 고찰을 통한 디자인 접근방법을 적용하기 위해 연구대상을 하나의 기호로 보고 환경디자인 모형사례 연구를 진행하였다. 문화컨텍스트를 분석하여 연구대상을 21세기 문화와 새로운 권력의 이동에 의한 정보중심지로서의 서울의 위상을 지원하기 위해 'K'관광정보관으로 선정하였다. 21세기와 서울, 관광정보관을 연속선상에서 연상시키는 연구대상의 기의를 움직임으로 선정하고 이에 대한 기표를 예술작품에서 수집하였다. 새로운 시각 언어를 창조하기 위한 방법으로 예술에서 보여지는 시각언어를 하나의 언어체계로 보고 이러한 언어체계에서 보여지는 코드는 연구자의 개인적인 변용에 의해 환경디자인에 적용되며 디자인 개념을 도출하였다. 연구자에 의해 제시된 언술체계는 환경디자인의 시각언어체계를 확장, 진화시킬 가능성을 잠재하게 된다. 움직임에 관한 기의 분석과 기표수집에 의한 디자인 개념을 적용하며 구체적인 디자인 모형사례를 제시하며 연구자가 의도하고자 했던 의미가 전달되었는지를 그레마스의 화용론에 근거하여 검증하였다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자는 상징미학과 형식미학의 상호보완적 관계를 이해할 수 있었고 환경의 예술화를 지향하기 위한 접근방법으로 상징미학의 기호학적 접근방법이 타당함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 생태학적 지각이론에 의한 상징미학을 논의하는데 기호학적 접근방법의 유용함과 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 환경의 예술화를 실현하기 위한 새로운 환경디자인 접근방법으로서 의의를 가진다.
