이중구조에 의한 공간 표현 연구

Abstract

인간 소외, 인간성 상실 등의 부정적인 측면이 존재하는 현대 문명사회 속에서의 현대인은 어떤 틀에 잘 맞추어진 존재로서의 삶에서 틀에 박힌 일상성에 얽매이게 되고 이로써 자기상실을 경험하게 된다. 이러한 삶 속에서 일상적인 것과 인간 존재의 그 근본으로 되돌아가려는 노력사이의 갈등이 나타나며 인간존재 그 근본을 되찾으려는 노력에 도움을 주는 것이 예술의 기능이라 하겠다. 삶의 울타리인 ‘사회’에서 인간의 기본적인 존재 상태를 결정짓는 것은 ‘내적 긴장’과 ‘갈등’이라 할 수 있는데, 이는 사회 속에서 흔히 경험하는 불안으로 설명될 수 있다. 이러한 불안은 본인에게도 순간순간 찾아들곤 하는데 이는 곧, 사회가 추구하는 보편적 가치의 테두리 안에 머물고 있는 내 자신에게 ‘현실에 존재하는 나는 과연 진정한 나일까?’에 대한 물음을 던지게 되는 것으로 나타난다. 이것은 자기상실과 종속을 경험할 때 불안이 발생한다는 리만(F.Riemann)의 말로써 이해될 수 있을 것이며 이러한 불안은 사회라는 울타리가 불가항력적이고 불가해한 힘으로써 인간의 실존상황을 조건 짓는 인간의 현실에서 비롯된 것이라 여겨진다. 이러한 불안과 혼돈에 빠져있는 인간의 현실로부터 추상미술이라는 경로를 통해 탈출하고자 하며 작품을 통해 상반되는 요소의 공존을 시도함으로써 보편적 가치와 이질적 가치, 현실에 존재하는 나와 내면에 감추어진 나, 이러한 상반되는 것들의 대립을 설명하고 동시에 조화, 융화를 모색하고자 한다. 즉 현실의 혼돈 상황으로부터 벗어나 독립적인 자아로서 존재하면서도 소외되지않고 사회전체를 구성하는 부분으로 존재 할 수 있는, 그리고 이질적인 가치와 삶까지도 나름대로의 의미를 지니는 조화로운 삶을 모색하고자 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 상반되는 요소인 기하학에 의한 구성적인 조형요소와 내적필연성에 의한 자발적이고 자율적인 추상표현적 요소의 이론적 근거를 20세기 추상미술의 두개의 뚜렷한 흐름인 기하학적 추상과 추상표현주의에서 찾고자 하며 기하학적 구성과 자율적 구성으로 나누어 고찰함으로써 조화의 가능성을 모색하고자 한다. 특히 자율적 구성에 대해 고찰함에 있어서 추상표현적 요소로서 나타난 자율적 표현의 행위를 東洋의 無作爲와 연결시켜 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 이중구조에 의한 조형 공간에 대한 연구를 통하여 논리적 과정과 무한한 표현성이라는 것이 상호배타적이지 않음을 보임으로써 이분법적인 사고의 경직성을 부드럽게 풀고자 한다. 방법적인 측면에서는 기하학적인 요소에 의한 공간표현에 대해 살펴보고자 하며, 실을 매개로 이루어진 선의 자율성과 묵의 특성을 살린 공간 표현에 대해 연구해 보고자 한다. 이러한 硏究를 통하여, 본인의 작품을 분석해봄으로써 나타나는 문제점들을 제시하고 본인의 작품세계를 정리하는 계기로 삼고자 한다.;Living in a modern civilization society, men exist like a molded being, isolated, dehumanized, and trapped in a constraints of everyday life thus experience a loss of identity. While living in confusion, men struggle between his reality and his effort to find the origin of human entity, and art functions as a vehicle in fulfilling that desire. The conditions of human existence in society are fundamentally expressed in one's "inner tension" and "struggle", which can be interpreted as insecurity that people experience. I have felt that uneasiness from time to time while asking myself a question of whether I, who dwell in a realm of universal values, can be true "me". F. Riemann said that one feels insecure when deprived of self in a state of subordination. I think that such uneasiness is deeply rooted in the fact that the so-called society holds an irresistible power which determines the conditions of human existence. I intend to find an outlet from this insecure and confusing reality through the means of abstract art. By examining the opposition of clashing elements in my works-universal and unconventional values my "self' as in context of reality and my "inner self ', I would like to find harmony among them. In other words, I look for a balanced way of life that I can stand as an independent being, in accordance with the world. As a constituent off society, I am to search for the meaning in my own personal values and seek a balance in life. In my dissertation, I will look for the theoretical grounds for the geometrical elements and the abstract ones in geometrical abstraction and abstract expressionism and find a way to integrate them both. Furthermore, in discussing the intuitive composition in my works, I will make a connection between the act of automatism in abstract expression and the notion of ''subconscious" in the orient. Through studying the "space" in both topics, I will show that the logical process and the unbounded expressiveness can be harmonized. As the method, I will examine the geometrical expression of space, and discuss the use of strings as automatic lines and the characteristic of oriental ink used in executing spaces in my work. By examining my works through this research, I will get to re-evaluate my art and reconstruction.
