사설무용학원의 현황 및 실태 조사연구

Abstract

오늘날 우리나라는 급격한 경제성장과 함께 문화수준에 대한 욕구가 증대되면서, 남녀노소를 불문하고 직접적인 체험을 통한 미의 추구에 관한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 이러한 시대적 요청에 부응하여 무용교육 역시 학교교육 외에 사회무용교육이 폭넓게 요청되고 있으며 사설무용학원이 그 중추적 역할을 담당하고 있다고 하겠다. 그런데 주로 무용의 초기교육을 담당하고 있는 사설무용학원에서 이루어지는 무용교육은 정신적인 면을 고려하는 인성교육에 중점을 두기 보다는 기능중심의 교육에 집중되고 있는 실정이며, 양적으로는 확대되었으나 질적으로 개선되야할 여지가 많다. 따라서 본 연구는 사회무용 교육기관으로서의 사설무용학원의 실태를 살펴보고 개선방안을 제시하는데 그 목적을 두었으며, 이를 위해 문헌연구와 조사 연구방법을 병행하였다. 먼저 조사된 이론적 검토와 법률적 검토를 토대로 사설무용학원의 현황 및 문제점을 조사하기 위해, 서울 소재 사설무용학원 지도자 150명, 학생 200명, 학부모 200명을 대상으로 사설학원의 교육내용, 지도자의 경력 및 자질, 교육 환경, 지도자·학생·학부모의 인식사항 및 요구사항에 대해 설문조사를 실시한 후, 회수된 411부 중 363부를 SAS를 이용하여 다음과 같은 결과를 도출해 내었다. 첫째, 학원의 교육내용에서는 기능위주의 학습으로서 창작학습과 감상학습이 제대로 실시되고 있지 않고 있었으며, 반편성에 있어서는 수준별 지도를 하지 않는 학원이 상당수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지도자의 자질 면에서는 대다수의 지도자들이 교사교육을 받지 못하였고, 무용교육경력, 특히 초등무용교육 담당경력이 짧았으며, 또한 교육을 위한 프로그램 모델을 이용하기보다는 과거의 경험을 바탕으로 수업을 운영하고 있었다. 셋째, 교육환경에 있어서는 무용실의 크기, 바닥의 상태 등 기본적인 무용시설은 양호하나, 탈의실, 샤워시설, 감상을 위한 비디오시설, 무용관련서적 등의 구비상태는 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 지도자들의 인식 및 요구사항에 관한 조사 결과에서는 대다수의 지도자가 변화하는 교육철학과 시대적 요구에 대응하기 위하여 체계적인 재교육의 기회를 원하였고, 창작학습과 감상수업에 대한 필요성을 절실히 느끼고 있음에도 불구하고 실제 수업시간에 실시하고 있지 못하는 이유는 지도자 자신의 자질부족과 창작·감상교육여건미비를 그 원인으로 들고 있었다. 학원무용 지도자라는 직업으로서의 사명의식에 대한 비율이 매우 높은 것으로 나타나 긍정적인 직업인식을 하고 있었다. 다섯째, 학생과 학부모의 인식 및 요구사항에 관한 조사 결과에서는 무용 학원에 다니게 된 동기는 학생의 경우 순수한 유희적 호기심이나 특기 향상에 대한 관심이 대부분이었으나 학부모의 경우 몸매 및 건강관리 등 무용교육의 효과에 관심을 가지고 있었으며, 학원을 다닌 결과 자신감과 생활의 즐거움을 느낄 수 있었고, 교육내용면에 있어 창작학습과 무용감상시간, 발표회에 대한 요구가 매우 높았으며, 시설 면에서는 초등학생들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 무용관련서적과 감상시설을 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상과 같이 사설무용학원이 사회무용교육기관으로서의 본래의 목적에 더욱 충실할 수 있기 위해서는 보다 많은 부분이 개선되어져야 함을 알 수 있었는데 이에 따라 개선방향을 제시해 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 체계적이고 세분화된 내용을 포괄하는 통합프로그램의 내용확립이 필요하겠다. 둘째, 무용학원 지도자의 자질 향상을 위한 재교육 제도를 마련하여야 하겠다. 셋째, 무용학원의 시설 및 환경정비를 위하여 관련 법규의 보완 및 관련 기관의 실효성 있는 정책집행이 요망된다. 넷째, 교사, 학생, 학부모들 간의 협력체제의 구축이 요망된다.;The principal objectives of this study are to examine the realities and to draw forth the betterment measures of private dance institute as a socio-dance education institute. After preceding theoretical and legal study, 150 dance instructors, 200 students and 200 parents were surveyed through questionnaire to examine present conditions and problems of private dance institute. The contents of questionnaire are the matters concerned with the education contents, career and quality of instructors, education environment, and recognition and need matters of students, instructors and parents. The conclusion of the survey is as follows； First, as the result of the survey on the education contents, we find harmonious and comrehensive education contents is not delivered to the students because the class is not composed of creation class and appreciation class but mainly composed of technique class. Also, the survey reveals as the class is not guided in accordance with the student levels, it is not fit for the characteristics and qualities of the individual students. Second, as the result of the survey on the instructor's quality, most instructors don't receive the education for them and is short of dance education career especially in primary dance education. Also, there are problems in the system and science of education contents because they managed the class on the ground of past experience rather than progoam models. Third, as the result of the survey on the education environment, fundamental facilities such as the size of dance room, the state of floor are good. But the equipment of locker room, a shower stall, video room for appreciation, dance-related books are insufficient. Fourth, as the result of the research on the recognition and need matters of instructors, most of them want to get the opportunity of systematic re-education to cope with the changing education contents. And in spite of the necessity, they don't apply the creative learning and appreciation learning to the actual class. For the reasons of those did they enumerate the lack of the quality of instructors themselves and insufficient conditions of creative education and appreciation education. On the other hand, they set a high value on dance instructor as a job judging from the high ratio of respondents who are charged with a mission. Fifth, as the result of the research on the recognition and need matters of students and parents, the motive of students to attend dance institutes is related to the concern about dance itself such as pure play curiosity and keeping special ability. On the other hand, the motive of parents is the things which is related to the effects of dance education such as a figure and health. As students and parents feel the confidence and joy of everyday life after attending the institute so dance education play a great role in the character building of primary school students. Like above mentioned, the reaserch shows that many things should be improved. Therefore, I present betterment or orientation so that the education of private dance institute is much more faithful to the purpose as a social dance education institute. First, combined programs including systematic and differentiated sub-programs should be established. Second, re-education institute to develop the teacher's quality should be settled. Third, to fully equip the facilites and environment of dance institute, revision of related law and, effective poliy implementation should be desired. Finally, construction of cooperation system between instructors, students and parents should be demanded.
