현대 자수에서 바다 이미지의 질감 표현 연구

Abstract

인간과 자연은 밀접한 관계를 유지해 왔다. 인간 역시 자연의 일부이기 때문에 자연으로 회귀하려는 본능을 가지고 있으며, 그들이 추구하는 미 또한 자연에서 나오는 경우가 많아 자연을 소재로한 미술 작품은 다양한 장르에 걸쳐 찾아 볼 수 있다. 자연의 아름다움을 추구하는 인간의 조형 의지는 시대에 따라 변화되어 왔으며, 현대에는 일정한 형식과 장르의 구분보다는 작가의 창의적 표현이 요구되며, 재료와 기법이 더욱 중요하게 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 자연의 아름다움을 추구하며 회귀하려는 인간의 심리를 반영하여, 생명의 탄생과 소멸을 상징하는 바다의 이미지를 자수로 표현하는데 목적이 있다. 이론적 배경으로는 국내·외 문헌 조사를 통해 현대 미술에서 나타난 바다의 이미지와 조형 의식에 의해 변화되는 바다의 이미지에 대해 분석하고, 섬유예술에서 재료와 기법에 의해 변화되는 질감 표현에 대해 알아보았으며, 바다 이미지를 표현한 작품중심으로 질감의 표현을 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 현대 자수에서 재료와 자수 기법의 변화에 의해 나타나는 질감을 연구하였다. 작품 제작에 있어서 바다 이미지의 표현은 포말(泡洙)의 형태를 단순화하고, 질감을 강조하여, 포말의 생성과 소멸을 통해 바다가 가지는 생명력을 나타내는데 중점을 두었다. 수제(手製) 펠트를 바탕천으로 사용하여 부드러우면서도 거친 질감 표현을 유도 하였으며, 기법에 의한 다양한 표현 연구를 바탕으로 작품을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 실제 작품을 제작했을 때 나타나는 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 포말의 형태의 변형과 거친 질감의 강조는 바다가 지닌 생명력을 표현하여 연구자가 의도한 탄생과 소멸의 이미지를 표현하는데 적절하였다. 둘째, 수제 펠트를 바탕천으로 사용한 것은 포말의 질감 표현에 있어 펠트의 질감이 화면 전체의 입체감과 포말의 거친 느낌을 강조하는데 효과적이었다. 특히 수제 펠트를 바탕천으로 사용해서 수를 놓았을때 부조적인 표현이 용이하다는 장점이 있다. 셋째, 자수 기법은 사용될 재료에 의해 많은 영향을 받으며, 바탕천에 따라 자수 기법의 표현 효과가 달라진다. 따라서 새로운 표현 양상을 추구해 볼 수 있다. 넷째, 재료 사용에 있어서 펠트, 견사, 면사, 은사, 인견사, 등 다양한 재료를 사용할 수 있었다. 자수에서 실은 굵기, 꼬임을 자유롭게 조절할 수 있기 때문에 수가 놓여지는 방향과 실의 종류에 따라 질감의 다양한 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이와같이 수제 펠트를 바탕천으로 사용한 시도는 현대 자수의 표현 방법을 보다 넓혀주며, 재료와 기법에 대한 연구에 구체적인 방법을 제시하는데 의의가 있다. 현대 자수는 다른 예술 분야들이 발전하는 것과 같이, 재료 선택의 무제한, 표현 기법의 다양성으로 새롭게 창조, 발전되고 있다. 따라서, 자수 작품의 제작은 강한 실험정신에 의해 다양한 시도와 연구 노력이 필요하다.;Human being have been connected with the nature. Men have a instinct which return to nature because men is also a part of the nature, As beauty came to the nature, there are many works as expressed the nature as its material numerously between genre. As to the geometrical mind of men which made nature their object currnt of expression has been continously changed by the times, and in the modern days artists became to deliberate original expression is important to separate formality from genre more specially through mixing various materials and techniques. The purpose of this study is to express ocean image symbolized creation and extinction by embroidery. With the theoretical background to analyze Ocean image as shown by the artistic world and that is changed by the geometric consciousness and, to find out to texture expression that is changed by material and techniques is the fiber art and considered for variety in expression of Ocean image subject thereto with article survay for not only domestic but also foreign area. Finally I studies about impact affects to texture expression of the entire works when changed by material and techniques in the embriodery work . In manufacturing the work, ocean image express the animation feeling and life power the ocean has by putting stress on texture and simplitying the form of the characteristics of wave bubbles. Through such studying process I manufactured the actual work and description of the reseult are as follows: First, the emphasis for deformation and rough texture of form of the wave bubbles become a suitable object express image of creation and extinction by expression of animation feeling and life power the Ocean has. Second, that is to use felt as the foundation cloth gave good effect in emphasis pf the cubic sense of the entire canvas and texture of bubbles by texture of wool itself in expression of texture of the bubbles, Especially there is a merit as relife expression is easy when the felt is used as foundation cloth in the embriodery work. Third, the change in material affects much impact to the embroidery techniques not only to expression of texture and especially, the effect of embroidery techniques will be different subject to material of the foundation cloth and may seek for new expression aspect. Fourth, about using materials, it is possible to select various materials such as felt, silk thread, cotton thread, silver thread, rayon thread. About expressing embroidery, thread promotes expressing various effect of texture depending on the direction of stitching and the kind of thread because it is easy to regulate the thickness and twist. Therefore, The embroidery in modem age is created as new appearance with material development and application of techniques as other artistic fields develop. The embroidery in modern age needs for studying efforts such as various attempts and application and mixed use of techniques with how much the artist has new viewpoints.
