행위에 의한 평면으로서의 회화추구

Abstract

The art does express the creative inner world of the human being, and it is created by the visual method or the moulding method. Since the end of the World War II, the existentialism was born in the postwar thought, and many artists chose the method of expression consciously or unconsciously in the complicated structure of the society and rapily changing environment to pursue their own World of art, and it gave birth to the abstract art. The abstract art was developed in "Informel" which highly evaluated the inner inevitability and spontaneity and impromptu and "Action Painting" which stressed the liberal abstraction and the geometric abstraction with the intellectual inclination. In the abstract art, it was developed in the manner of grasping the ultimate reality which is reductive and most essential, and the being. The development of the art style was shown in the Minimal Art, Monochrome which were characterized by the plane canvas and the minimum returned style without the depth, structure, and image in the 1970s. And, it was developed in the Support/Surface Group which is one of the neo abstraction movement, and divides the frame and the cloth of the canvas and stresses the materialization of the painting. In the current of modern art in which the co-existence of varied experimental attitude and expression mode is vigorously developed, my works have the compositeness of the various factors derived from the accumulation of these pursuit. On my part, facing the plane nature of painting, I tried to express the repeated rhythm of the line and surface which were shown as pattern in the expression which automatic and technical of the line and surface as the moulding factors and tried to develop the canvas which is tructural in the "field". The contents of my works is to review the abstract expressionism which expresses the inner world voluntarily and impromptu, and in the aspect of method, R. Ryman who painted the pictures with nuance according to the trace of the simple brush and john, Edwards who pursued the dazzling color and corelation of the color and rhythm1 were respectively reviewed. Through such a study in tne process of my painting. I tried to deepen the understanding of art, and to pursue the depth of art.;예술은 창조적인 인간의 내면세계를 표출하는 것이므로 시각적 방법이나 조형적 방법을 통하여 창조해 나간다. 제 2차 세계대전이 종전된 이후 전후 사상에서는 실존주의가 태어나고, 미술사에서는 복잡 다양한 사회구조와 급변하는 환경 속에서 많은 예술가들은 무식적이거나 의식적인 다양한 표현방법들을 택하여 자신 주관적인 세계를 추구한 추상미술이 전개 되었다. 추상미 술은 내적 필연성과 화면의 자발적, 즉흥성을 중요시 하는 앙포르멜"이나 "액션페인팅"을 전개시킨 자유추상과 이지적 성향의 기하학적 추상으로 전개되었다. 추상미술에 있어서 함축적이며, 가장 원초적인 실재성(Ultimate reality)과 존재( being )를 포착하려는 양식으로 발전 되었다. 이러한 미술양식의 발전은 70년대에 이르러서 깊이도 구성도 Image도 없어진 평면화된 화면과 함축적인 최소한의 환원된 형태를 제시한 minimal Art, monochrome이 나타났으며, 캔버스의 틀과 천을 분리시킨 그림 물질성을 강조시킨 신추상운동의 중요한 Support / Surface Group (신회화)으로 전개되어 왔다. 다양한 실험태도와 표현방식이 공존하며 활발히 전개시킨 현대미술 흐름 속에서, 본인의 작품은 이런 양식들의 축적속에서 나온 요소들의 복합성을 가진다. 본인은 어떤 대상을 image化 시키는 것이 아니라, 동양의 전통 사상을 바탕으로 회화를 순수한 시각적, 형태적, 지각의 대상으로 환원 시키려는 시도에서 작품이 전개되었다. 본인작품에서의 표현적 터치의 배열에 기초하여 반복, 중첩으로 인한 약간의 감성적 요소가 있는 전면적( all -over ) 화면은 행위속에 내포되어 있는 새로운 의미 즉 궁극적인 실재를 포착 하고자 하였다. 본인작품제작 논문에 있어서, 내용적인 면은 행위의 측면과 그 행위와 재료가 자연스럽게 융화되는 평면의 측면에 대해서 알아 보고, 방법적인 면에서 자신 특유의 "White Writing"을 개발하여 동양 정신의 구현을 시도한 M. Tobey, 단순한 붓의 흔적에 의한 뉘앙스의 그림을 그린 R. Ryman, 현혹적인 색채와 리듬의 상호작용을 추구한 John Edwards에 대해서 살펴 보았다. 작품제작과정에서 이러한 연구를 통해서 본인의 인식이 심화되고 보다 깊이 있는 회화성을 추구 하고자 하였다.
