곤충의 아르누보적 표현특성을 통한 추상 도자 조형 연구

Abstract

We dare to say that human art comes from nature. Also the history of some period has been developed and changed with diverse trends of art. Each element of Nature has evoked inspiration to the mankind. Although they are small but their kinds are so diverse that the known types to us are more 700,000 species at this time. We can get the abstract of psychological concepts of human from their generating and evolutionary procedure and find geometric and plastic characteristics from their structural form. Like above passage, art have played as an intermediate role which connect between natural elements with living plastic characteristics and human and also it has expressed himself. Including cave painting which expresses the hope of human beings, art have many expression trends. As we mentioned, art is a product which reflects some periodic and historical characteristics. In the art, the reproduction and application of past trends and ism to present can approach to expressional trends with abundant representative data for the artist. and also, since they can get new formal expressional trends by subjective abstract of artist, this paper chose plastic characteristics of insects as a researching object which expresses organic living cubic plastic body as an expressional characteristics of art nouveau. Art nouveau is, as we called, a new art form which is much different from the past and we can say the starting point of art form after art nouveau in past art form and emphasize rhythmic sense of symbolic line and express geometric, structural, abstract, aesthetic form. But these characteristics are absorbed by aesthetic classicism and nationalism in 1902-1903, it has been existed widely for 20 years from end of 19 century to start of 20century in Europe. In comparison with existed expressional characteristics of art form, it came to more abstract form and has been played an important part of current art form due to original role in expressional way after art nouveau, expression of insect in art nouveau has much more living sense than any other artistic expressional way and formal characteristic of insects are expressed by rhythmic line. The researching object is the representation of organic living cubic plastic body with texture and characteristics of clay to express plastic characteristics of insect with use of expressional characteristics of art nouveau. In the respect of theoretical background, the characteristics of art nouveau style and plastic characteristics of insect examined. Also the plastic characteristics of the work which has expressional characteristics of art nouveau, its works with which subject matter is insect, another works which remind us of insect image were studied. In the respect of design procedure of works, the plastic characteristics of insect with the reproduction of subjective abstract researcher with a view to expression of art nouveau was researched. In the respect of making methods, throwing method that molds a shape out of clay with tools to get the texture of clay and then throws the clay to get the natural position, pushing and folding with plate, spinning wheel formation, modeling method and pressing method to get the repeating effect are used. Base clay is made from stoneware clay contained chamotte and porcelain clay with 10-15% Mullite. The diverse color of glaze is obtained by brush painting of two or three types of non-glossy glaze(Matt Glaze) with thickness variation of glaze. Also the crack is induced from the different components of two glazes which can get by pasting glossy glaze with incomplete glaze contained 20.3% alumina. I burning, works were firstly burnt at 825℃ in a 1.5㎥ gas kiln for eight hours, and secondly oxidizedly burnt at 1250℃ for then hours. From these performance, I can have a new understanding of characteristics of art nouveau as a art style, research the diverse plastic researching about insects which are an object of art expression and from grafting of these characteristics, find diverse expressional methods induced from characteristics of clay through plastic works. In this research, we try to prepare the moment of expression of ceramics through researching of plastic characteristics from diversity of nature and characteristics of existing art expression style.;인류의 예술은 모두 자연에서부터 유출되었다 해도 과언은 아닐 것이다. 이렇듯, 자연은 인류예술활동의 모체이자 근원이라 할 수 있다. 자연의 개체 각각의 요소는 인간에게 영감을 불어 일으켰고, 그 중 곤충 작지만 종류만도70여 만종에 이르어 자연의 순환요소로써 긴밀한 유대관계를 맺으며 변화해왔다. 자연의 유구한 생물체로써 곤충의 생성과 변이과정은 그 종류에 못지 않게 생태학적 측면에서 곤충이 갖는 특성과 의미를 발견할 수 있는데 즉, 인간의 심리학적 개념의 추상성을 얻을 수 있으며 구조 형태에서도 여러 기하학적, 추상적 조형성을 발견할 수 있다. 이러한 조형성이 살아 숨쉬는 자연의 요소들과 인간과의 거리감을 좁혀주고, 연결시켜주는 매개체적 역할을 해왔던 것이 다름 아닌 예술행위 이다. 역사발전과 함께 이러한 자연을 모체로 한 인류의 예술활동은 인간의 희망을 표현했던 동굴벽화에서부터 현대에 이르기까지 수많은 표현 양상과 함께 발전, 변화해 왔다. 즉 예술은 예술이 갖는 특수성과 함께 당대의 사회상과 역사성을 반영한 시대적 산물인 것이다. 예술에 있어서 과거 한 시대의 양상 또는 'ISM'을 다시 현대에 와서 재현해 내거나 반추, 응용을 통해 작품 속에 투영시키는 것은 작가에게는 풍부한 표현적 자료를 얻을수 있음은 물론, 작품 속에서 새로운 표현양상을 얻을 수 있다. 또한, 작가의 추상성에 의해 새로운 유형의 표현양상을 도출(導出)할 수 있다. 과거의 예술양식 중 아르누보는 아르누보 이후에 표출된 예술양상의 출발점이라고 할 만큼 이전의 양식과 다른 명칭 그대로 '신예술'이었으며 아르누보의 다양한 표현양상은 예술의 모든 부분에서 나타났으며 표현양상으로는 상징적 선의 율동감 강조, 기하학적 구조적 추상적 심미적인 양상들이 도출되었으며 물론 1902-03년경 고전주의적이고 국수주의적 경향에 의해 흡수되고 말았지만 19세기말부터 20세기 초 약 20년을 유럽전역에 풍미했다. 아르누보 이전 기존 예술양식의 표현특성에 비해 추상적 도안적이고 양식화되어 나타났으며 아르누보 이후의 양식들의 표현양상의 모체적 역할을 한 시대적 양식이어서 지금의 예술양식에 지대한 영향력을 미치고 있고, 아르누보 양식에서 곤충의 표현은 다른 장르의 예술적 표현양식에 비하여 매우 생동감이 있으며 곤충의 형태상 특징들은 리듬감있고 율동감이 있는 선들로서 표현되어있다. 이러한 바탕으로 곤충의 다양한 조형적 특성을 아르누보 표현특성 중 유연하고 유기적 선적 상징적 구조적이며 기하학적 표현을 응용해서 추상적 조형물로 표현하는 것을 연구의 대상으로 택하게 되었다. 즉, 곤충의 조형적 특성을 아르누보의 표현특성 중 추상적, 유기적 영감, 선적 상징적 구조적 기하학표현을 응용, 추상화하여 생동감 있는 조형물로 나타내는데 그 목적이 있다. 이론적 배경으로는 아르누보 양식의 특성과 곤충의 조형적 특성에 대해서 살펴 보았고, 아르누보의 표현양상에 따른 작품, 곤충을 소재로 한 아르누보 작품, 곤충의 이미지를 연상시키는 작가들의 작품의 조형성에 대하여 연구하였다. 작품의 디자인 과정은 곤충이 가진 형태의 조형적 특성들을 아르누보적 표현중심으로 하여 연구자의 주관적 추상재현과 함께 진행하였다. 기하학적 선들과 질감을 이용해서 조형성을 나타내었고, 곤충의 형태적 특징을 아르누보적 표현방법으로써 생동감 있게 입체물로 표현하였다. 제작 기법은 표현의 다양함을 위해 흙판에 질감을 낸 후 흙판을 던져 그 문양들이 자연스럽게 퍼지는 Throwing 기법과 흙을 평평하게 판으로 밀어 접거나 물레성형, 모델링기법과 반복적 효과를 얻기 위한 압축기법을 사용하였다. 태토는 다량의 성형 시 문제점 해결을 위해 샤모트가 함유된 석기소지와 10∼15%정도의 뮬라이트를 포함한 자기질 소지를 사용하였다. 유약은 주로 광택이 없는 matt유 2∼3가지를 한꺼번에 붓으로 칠하여 유약의 두께에 따라 다양한 색상을 얻을 수 있었다. 또는 광택유에 알루미나(Alumina)를 22.48%이상 함유된^(1) 자화가 완전히 되지 않는 유약을 위에 덧발라 두 유약의 성분차이로 crack을 일으켰다. 소성은 1.5㎥ 도염식 가스가마에서 최고온도 825℃까지의 마침 온도로 8시간 동안 1차 소성을 한 뒤, 1250℃의 마침 온도로 9시간 2차 소성을 하였다. 이러한 결론을 바탕으로 본 연구자의 예술 표현의 대상으로써 곤충에 대한 다각적 조형성 연구와 예술양식으로써 아르누보에 대한 특성들을 재인식 해볼 수 있었고 이들의 접목을 통한 조형작업을 통해서 음의 특성을 응용한 다양한 표현 기법을 찾아 낼 수 있었다. 본 연구과정을 통해서 앞으로 연구자가 작품활동을 하는데 있어서 자연에서 소재의 다양성과 기존 예술표현 양식의 특성을 통한 조형성 연구를 통해 발전적 도자 표현의 계기를 마련하고자 한다.
