이중직을 이용한 Tapestry의 부조 효과

Abstract

현대 섬유예술은 새로운 양식으로 변천하는 미술사조의 영향을 받아 섬유예술의 고유한 재질 및 특징적 기법에 의해 총체적인 조형예술로 부각되었다. 섬유예술의 전통기법인 Tapestry는 평면적 작업은 물론 부조 및 입체로서 적극적인 형태를 창출하여 특히 공간성을 추구하는 경향이 많아졌다. 본 연구는 자연에서 느낀 변화와 움직임 중 특히 나무표면의 형태를 Tapestry로 표현하는 데 있어서 이중직에 의한 부조적 공간표현이 적합하다고 느껴 이중직의 구조적 조형성에 관심을 갖고 이에 의한 부조효과를 연구하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이론적 연구방법으로는 국내외의 문헌을 중심으로 현대 Tapestry의 경향을 살펴보고 부조의 일반적인 고찰 및 Tapestry의 부조효과를 연구하였다. 또한 이중직에 의한 부조적 공간에서의 실의 혼합과 색감에 의한 시각적 효과와 형태에 의한 조형적 효과를 현대섬유예술가들의 작품을 예를 들어 제시하면서 분석하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 계절에 따라 변화하는 나무의 이미지중 특히 나무의 표면과 결을 통해 느낀 심성적인 면을 표현하였으며, 이러한 자연의 이미지와 부합되는 지친 마사와 부드러운 모사의 천연재료를 혼합사용함으로써 온화하면서도 잔잔한 재질감을 병치혼합시켜 나타내고자 하였다. 또한 표현기법으로는 평직과 변화평직, soumak기법으로 1차적 표현을 하면서 이중직을 제직(製織)하여 본 연구자의 감정에서 느낀 부드럽고 서정적인 입체감과 맞도록 낮은 부조효과로 시도하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 Tapestry의 이중직은 다른 이중직에 비해 굴곡적인 선과 면의 형태를 부조로 표현하기에 더욱 적합함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 색감에 있어서 명도대비에 의한 색채사용은 형태의 원근감을 나타내었고, 여러 색실의 조합에 의한 채도대비는 풍부한 색채감을 수반하였다. 따라서 이 모든 효과는 입체적 시각효과를 한층 높여줌을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 이중직의 다양한 부조효과를 위해 이중직에 있어서의 구조적 관련성에 관한 창의적인 연구가 필요함을 절감하였다.;Influenced by the new style of fine art, the modern fiber art is emerging as a total formative art by using inherent materials and special techniques of fiber art. Tapestry, the traditional technique of fiber art, has the trend that it pursues especially the spacial effect by creating the active style through the relief and the solid as well as plane works. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relief effect through the structural formation of double weave due to my recognition that the spacial expression of the relief through double weave is appropriate to express especially the form of surfaces of trees among the change and movement of nature. The theoretical study covers the trend of the modern Tapestry, the general study on the relief, and the relief effect of Tapestry on the basis of domestic and foreign literatures. By showing the works of fiber artists, the study also analyzes the visual effect created from the blend and colors of threads and the formative effect generated from the form of lines in the relief space of double weave. The process of my works involves the intention to express the sense of emotion created from especially the surface and the grain of trees among images of trees which change seasonally. And rough hemp yarn and soft woolen yarn appropriate to these images of trees are used to produce mild and smooth materials. Also, by plane weaving, Hit-and-miss weaving, soumak, and double weave, the form of surfaces of trees which seems to have come out from the inside of them is described to match my emotional cubic delineation through the low relief effect. The study shows that the double weave in Tapestry can ex-press curved lines and faces in the form of relief more appropriately compared to other double weaves. Also, in the hue, the contrast of brightness expresses the perspective of a form and the contrast of clearness by blending many colored threads brings plenty of senses of colors. Therefore, it is recognized that all these effects by far enhances the visual cubic elect. This study has evoked my strong impression that it is highly required to study creatively on the structural correlation in double weave for the various relief of double weave.
