아동을 위한 발레의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

최근 우리나라의 발레계에서는 대중과 가까워지려는 노력의 일환으로 젊은층의 관객을 대상으로 하는 등 다양한 소재와 새로운 형식의 발레작품 공연이 시도되고 있다. 그러나, 진정한 발레의 다중화와 발레 인구의 저변확대를 위해서는 신체적, 정서적, 사회적 발달이 활발한 아동기에 발레를 접하게 함으로써 발레가 일부 계층을 위한 예술이 아닌 생활의 일부로 만드는 노력이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 아동을 대상으로 하는 발레의 활성화를 목적으로 아동의 특성과 발레, 발레의 발달과정 및 아동을 위한 주요 작품, 그리고 우리나라 발레의 공연적, 교육적 측면에서의 현황과 문제점 그리고 방안에 대하여 고찰하였으며, 아동과 그들의 부모를 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 발레에 대한 인식, 조기 교육으로서의 가치, 공연 작품의 소재 및 제반 요구사항등을 조사하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 발레 공연의 형식면에 있어서 기존의 대극장 공연 중심에서 일반 대중이 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 소극장, 학교강당이나 시·구민회관의 무대를 활용하는 한편, 일반 공연의 시간적·공간적 제약의 극복이 가능하고, 보다 많은 사람들이 발레를 감상할 수 있도록 TV와 같은 매스미디어를 이용하여 대중에게 다가가고자 하는 노력이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 어린이 프로그램 시간대에 동화나 만화같이 발레를 극장 부대용이 아닌 TV용으로 제작하여 방영한다면 대중에게 친근감을 느끼게 할 수 있을 것이다. 우리나라에서도 1977년에 '호두깍기 인형'이 TV용으로 제작·방영되어 좋은 반응을 얻은 바 있다. 공연방법에 있어서에도 관객의 이해를 높일 수 있는 노력이 병행되어야할 것으로 판단된다. 발레가 대중화 되어 있지 않은 우리나라의 현실을 감안할 때 공연 자체로 발레의 내용을 쉽게 이해하는 관객이 드물다. 그러므로, 공연전에 작품에 대하여 간략하게 설명할 시간을 갖거나, 공연이 되어지는 동안 무대 옆에 자막을 설치하여 작품의 내용을 보다 명확히 전달하는 것도 관객의 이해를 도울수 있는 한 방법일 것이다. 그리고 무엇보다도 아동을 대상으로 한 발레는 이해하기 쉽게 만들어져야 할 것이다. 둘째, 사회교육적 측면에서 아동의 신체적, 정서적 발달에 있어 교육적 효과가 있는 발레를 아동기의 초등학생들이 예술학교나 학원이외에서 발레를 체계적으로 배울 수 있도록 환경을 제공하고자 하는 노력이 절실하다. 이의 실천 방안으로 무용과를 보유하고 있는 대학을 중심으로 문화 학교와 같은 '부속 무용 학교'를 설립하고 유치부에서부터 초등부, 중등부, 그리고 고등부에 이르기까지 단계별로 체계적인 교육을 실시하고, 외국의 발레 교수 방법을 그대로 모방하여 가르치거나 전수하는 것에 그치지 않고 우리나라 사람의 체격이나 실정에 맞는 발레 교육 프로그램을 연구 개발하는 기능을 담당하게 하는 것도 효과적일 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 또한, 일부 대도시를 제외한 우리나라 대부분의 지역에서는 발레를 접하거나, 배울 수 있는 기회가 매우 제한적이다. 더우기 아동을 대상으로 하는 발레 공연 및 교육은 찾아 보기 힘들 뿐만 아니라, 사회 단체에서 운영하는 문화 학교와 같은 사회교육 역시 거의 이루어지고 있지 않은 실정이다. 발레에 있어서의 이와 같은 지역적인 불균형은 대도시를 중심으로 이루어져 온 발레 공연을 문화적 소외 지역으로 확대·전환하기 위한 발레 단체 및 대학의 노력과 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 관리적·재정적 지원이 필요하다. 세째, 발레작품의 소재를 우리나라의 정서에 맞는 것으로 새롭게 발굴하는 노력이 필요하다. 학부모를 대상으로 한 설문 조사 결과 마음에 드는 공연이 있을 때만 발레 공연장을 찾는다는 응답자가 과반수 이상이었으며, 아동의 발레 주제에 대한 선호도 조사에서 동화나 민화를 주제로 한 발레를 선호하는 경향이 높게 나타나 발레 작품의 소재내지는 내용이 발레 공연의 관람 여부의 판단 기준으로 작용함을 알 수 있다. 따라서, 동화나 민화를 소재로 하는 작품들이 활발히 제작될 수 있도록 환경을 조성하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 소재 발굴의 한 방법으로 콩쿨에 나오는 동화나 민화를 주제로 한 작품들 가운데서 수작을 선정하여 보다 많은 사람들이 관람할 수 있도록 유도하는 방법이 있을 수 있으며, 이를 위하여 보다 체계적인 공연 관리가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.;Recently, various themes and new forms of ballet performance are introduced to be familiar with the common run of people. However, for the true popularization of ballet, efforts to make ballet as a part of life would be needed for the children who are in the age of physical, emotional, and social developments. In this study, the characteristics of children, the process of development in ballet, major ballet works for children, the current status and problems of ballet in the aspects of performance and education have been investigated for the activation of ballet for children. In addition, a survey far children and their parents was made for investigating the degree of cognition, values as an early childhood education, themes of ballet and their demands. From the results of the above studies, conclusions were made as follows; In the aspect of the form which the ballet is played, the place for ballet performance should be diversified beyond the large theater. Auditorium of school and city-hall would be a good place. To overcome the restrictions on space and time, the utilization of TV seems to be essencial for the popularization of ballet. If the ballet works are produced for TV and broadcasted, ballet will be more popular art and its synergy effects will be very large. In the social and educational aspects, it is necessary to make a circumstance where the children can learn ballet systematically. To achieve this, the university having department of dance should play a central role in the social education of dance. It seems to be effective to develop an educational program adequate for the Korean. Except for several large cities, the children seldom have the opportunities to experience and learn ballet. Moreover, the performance and education of ballet for children is not common, and the ballet program for social education is not conducted. This unbalance in ballet performance and education can be solved by the efforts of ballet companies and universities to enlarge their activities to the area where the cultural benefits could not be obtained. Lastly, it is necessary to develop the themes which is suitable for our national emotion, The results of a survey for the children and their parents have shown that they usually go to the theater when there is a ballet work which they like. An investigation about the demands for ballet have revealed that the children and their parents want to see a beautiful and emotional ballet like a fairy tale, a Korean traditional nursery tale or a story that can be enjoyed by children and their parents together.
