작품을 통한 심상 표현연구

Abstract

In the art history from the beginning of the twentieth century under diverse sociological structures and rapidly changing environments, many of the painters have pursued a new methodology to express their subjective worlds through the variety of expressional techniques based on internal psychology. This kind of movement, initiated by Fauvism which is represented by Matisse of 1905, moved over successively to Cubism of 1908, Futurism of 1909, Dadaism of 1916, and then has been climaxed by Surrealism introduced by Andre Breton of 1924 and also by Abstract Expressionism which is originated by Surrealism. Modern Arts, accordingly, is characterized by free style of expression and introspection as an approach to the intrinsic human essence, which broadens the imagination into the unconscious world that lies dormant in human nature and emphasizes the concern for artist's inner world. In these currents to search for human intrinsic identity, the menifestation of artists' world of experience and inward sincerity constitutes the essential value of their master pieces and the uniqueness of their world view. This study tries to expose aspects of human real existance and pure free will from the introspective view by broadening the concern into the man's internal world, and also to search for the possibility to express in the Oriental Painting, as its intrinsic expressional characteristics, the mentality that matches the modern trends mentioned above about the western counterparts. As a theoretical basis, this study discusses the philosophy of 'Zen' that pursues internal essence through the sur-logical freedom and the 'Unconscious World' that transcendents the consciousness, and then compares and discusses the similarities and the dissimilarities between Zen Painting and some of the aspects of the western Modern Arts. Expressional techniques that apprear in the author's paintings are the accidental 'Gestes' unconsciously followed by the internal impulses to menifest. In discussing this technique, the study analyzes the 'gestes' into three categories, first, the Calligraphic Geste that well captures the mental crystalloid, second, the Accidental Geste that follows the accidental effects of the material and the physical effects of dyestuffs, and third, the 'Geste' of Automatism that characterizes the Automatic Writing of Surrealism.;美術史에 있어서 20c 현대 회화는 다양한 社會구조와 急變하는 環境속에서 많은 예술가들은 內面心理學에 의거한 다양한 表現방법을 擇하여 자신의 主觀的인 世界를 표현하는 방법을 추구하였다. 이러한 움직임은 1905年 Mattise로 대표되는 野獸派를 시작으로 1908年의 立體派, 1909年의 未來派, 1916年의 다다運動으로 連係되었고 1924年 Andre Breton에 의해 표면화된 超現實主義와 그 초현실주의에 근원을 두고 출발한 抽象表現主義에 와서 絶頂을 이루었다. 따라서 현대회화의 특성으로서 人間本質에의 접근방법으로 深層깊이 潛在하는 無意識의 世界로 그 想像力을 擴張시키며 自身의 世界에 대한 관심을 강조하는 自由奔放한 표현양식과 內面性을 화면에 표현하였다. 자신의 Identity를 찾으려는 이러한 조류속에서 작가의 經驗世界와 內面的 眞實性의 發現은 예술작품의 本質的 가치와 獨創的 世界관을 형성한다. 본 硏究는 內面世界로의 확대를 통해 내면으로부터 인간존재의 實在와 진정한 自由意志의 표출을 하고자 하였으며 韓國畵의 그 고유한 표현양식에 있어서의 精神性과 현대적 표현으로서의 가능성을 모색하고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로는, 超論理的인 자유로움을 통해 內面的 本質을 추구하는 禪思想과 意識을 超越하여 자기존재의 본질인 無意識世界에 대해 논하고 禪畵와 몇몇의 現代美術 潮流와 비교하여 그 유사점과 차이점을 언급하였다. 本入 작품에 나타난 표현방법으로는 深層的 表現衝動에 따른 geste의 偶然性이다. 精神的 결정체를 잘 포착할 수 있는 書法的 geste, 재료와 물리적 힘의 偶然的 效果에 의한 geste, 超現實主義의 自動記述的 (Automatic Writing)인 geste를 다루어 보고자 한다.
