대상의 다의성 표현

Abstract

There can be various interpretation of object according to the subjectivity of the person who perceives that object. As one object comprises multiple meanings based on various interpretations of a person's subjectivity, this research is aimed at expressing this content with plastic methods. On the theoretical basis that one object can be interpreted in various ways according to the vision of a person, I tried to correlate works of art expressing one object in various ways, together with the analysis of works with reiteration in contemporary art. In work expression, I tried to express that one object can be interpreted differently according to the subjective vision of a person. This research is based both on documentary investigation and analysis on my works produced. In general, by using objects with commonly accepted ideas I tried to show that commly accepted ideas can also be differently interpreted according to the person's subjectivity. By making the object look ambiguous with the technique of reiteration which can be perceived in various ways, each person can give out different interpretation. In producing my works, I used transparent materials which enable the effect of reiteration and viewing through. This effect of reiteration and viewing through with various elements of simultaneousness and interpenetration added can give rise to diverse thoughts. The results of the analysis in this research are as follows. Firstly, as a person recognizes an object according to his or her subjectivity, that object is interpreted differently under the person's relative vision. Secondly, as one object itself is compiled with diverse images, it is perceived in multiple meanings. Thirdly, the technique of reiteration has spatial depth and gives out more meanings than the original. Visual ambiguity and confusion enable interpretations of multiple meanings. Fourthly, using transparent materials enables seeing through and reiteration, and seeing through makes us perceive that space is included in objects. And furthermore, it is possible for us to see not only the one object but the other objects at on point. My works are completed not by my own interpretation but by various interpretations coming from the experiences of the viewers. Therefore, compared to other fields of art which aim at emotional or ideal approach to objects, the existence of my works are more based on the active role of the viewers.;하나의 대상이 다양하게 해석된다는 것은 원형적 공통인식이며, 개인적 체험과 주관을 바탕으로 한 해석이 가능하기 때문에 대상에 대한 인식은 각각이며 다양하게 지각된다. 본 연구의 목적은 하나의 대항이 지각자의 시각에 따라 다양하게 해석되는 다의적 상태로 보고 이러한 내용을 유도할 수 있는 방법을 모색하고 표현하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경으로 하나의 대상이 지각자의 시각에 따라 다의적으로 해석될 수 있으며 이러한 관점에서 지각자의 심리적 개입을 전제로하여 표현한 작품들을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌조사와 작품제작 및 분석을 병행하였다. 표현방법에서는 일반적으로 통념화된 개념을 가진 오브제를 사용함으로서 통념화된 개념이 지각자에 따라 새롭게 해석이 가능하다는 것을 보여준다. 구체적으로 중첩 기법을 사용하여 대상을 모호하게 보이는 효과는 다양한 해석을 가능하도록 하였다. 작품제작 방법에서 재료는 대상의 다의적 효과를 나타낼 수 있는 중첩 기법을 투명재료로 표현하였다. 투시와 중첩효과는 여러 요소가 병합되어서 동시적으로 보여지고, 상호 침투되어서 다양한 사고를 유발시킨다. 하나의 대상이 상대적 시각에 따라 다의적 해석이 가능하다는 것을 표현하기 위해 일반화된 오브제를 선택해서 새로운 해석이 가해지도록 오브제를 중첩 효과를 통하여 어렴풋하게 처리함으로써 일상적인 오브제로써 보는 것이 아니라 지각자의 개념이 개입되어 보게 된다. 이러한 조건을 만드는 것은 개인 심리를 끌어내기 위해서이다. 본 연구의 작품은 본인에 의해 해석되어져 완성된 것이 아니라 관객과 만나기 시작해서 지각자의 체험에 의해 자의적으로 해석되어졌을 때 비로소 완성되어지는 것이다. 따라서, 사물이나 감정 또는 사상을 대상으로 하는 다른 미술에 비해 작품 존재의 의의에 있어서 감상자의 다양한 해석을 전제로하여 심리적 참여를 유도할 수 있는 표현의 가능성을 갖게 한다.
