유년 시절의 이미지 표현

Abstract

The pure and innocent mind like children's which is latent in human mind and continuously affecting our life Is not the simplicity of childishness and ignorance but the true wisdom and original sense. The affirmative senses encouraging our life can be obtained by recalling and rediscovering the human natural mind which is permanant and pure like children's eyes. This study, based on the belief that the arts can help one to regain the human natural mind and feelings and to encourage his (her) life, aims at recognizing the mentality that purifies and ventilates our life and expressing the images of childhood which is the original form of the human natural mind. This study has meaning in that it gives warm emotions to the viewers by making them feel the beauty and the purity visually and mentally. The childhood in this study is not the concept of a period in human life but the concept of the common emotion that every person may have and is the pure mind the same as that of children. This thesis investigate the description of childlike mind that is latent in human natural mind in further affirmative sense and the expression of children's mind in some artistic works in Theoretical Background. In Contents of Study, the childhood and its images acting as affirmative sense on one's life are described along with the motivation and the contents of the works done during this study. In Methods of Study, the effects of colors and materials, which are considered to be adequate for the expression of the image of childhood, such as soft materials including cloth, cotton, thread and feathers and other materials including mirrors, wood, lights and transparent acryl are explained. Analysis of the Works describes the seven works constructed based on the theoretical background, the contents and the methods of this study. The images of childhood, which evoke anyone's natural sympathy and instantaneous intuition, are expressed by abstract images causing feeling of softness, lightness, glitter, purity, transparancy and mysteriousness focused on mental aspects rather than concrete images or childlike expression. A form of the box whose inside can be seen by eyes of children's mind and be filled with imagination is considered as a theme of the form and the form is considered to be able to convey or give recognition of human emotions with its unified and simple characteristics. The expression of the works which have form giving mysterious feelings draws viewer's interest and eyes and make warm and bright atmosphere and enjoyable space to call up the emotion of soft and cosy relaxation and to give free and serene mind. The materials and colors, which are treated in joyable attitude and method, and the touch and the visual characteristics, which give familiarity like children's mind longing for touch of toys, can induce and remind one of children's mind. This study was proceeded in the hope of recovery and expansion of the art's basic function to purify human mind. This study was a process of trying to find the possibility of the expression which can evoke the reliance and the deep understanding for human nature.;인간 내면에 잠재되어 지속적으로 영향을 주는 어린아이와 같은 순수하고 천진(天眞)한 마음은 유치(幼稚)와 무지(無知)의 단순함이 아닌 참 지혜이며 진실한 근원적 의식이다. 이와 같이 삶에 힘을 주는 긍정적 의식은 변하지 않는 인간 본래의 심성을 되짚어보고, 재발견하는 것에서 비롯될 수 있다. 본 연구는 예술이 상실해 가는 인간의 근원적 정신과 감정을 되찾아 주고 삶을 활력적으로 살아가도록 하는데 기여한다는 믿음을 바탕으로 하여 우리를 정화시키고 환기시켜 주는 정신 세계를 인식하고, 그 원형이 되는 유년 시절의 이미지 표현을 목적으로 한다. 또한 유년 시절의 이미지를 작품으로 표현함으로써 보는 이에게 시각적, 심리적으로 아름다움과 순수함을 느끼게 하여 따스한 인간적 정서를 이끌어내는데 그 의의를 둔다. 본 연구에서의 '유년 시절'은 특정한 시기를 지칭하는 것이 아니고 인간이라면 누구나 갖고 있는 공통되는 정서로서 지금의 어른 안에 지속적으로 살아 있는 어린아이와 같은 순수한 마음을 뜻한다. 이론적 배경에서 인간의 심성을 보다 긍정적인 관점에서 보고, 인간 심성에 내재하는 어린아이와 같은 마음에 대하여 설명하는 내용과 예술 작품에 나타난 동심적 표현에 대하여 살펴보았다. 표현 내용으로 삶에 있어 긍정적 의식으로 작용하는 정신의 원형으로서의 유년 시절과 그 이미지에 관하여 기술하고, 작품 전개의 모티브와 내용을 밝혔다. 표현 내용에 따른 방법으로 그 특징이 유년 시절의 이미지 표현에 적합하다고 생각되어 사용한 재료로서 천, 솜, 실, 깃털 등의 부드러운 재료와 거울, 나무, 빛, 투명 아크릴 등과 색채의 표현 효과에 관하여 설명하였다. 작품 분석에서는 표현된 7점의 작품을 대상으로 이론적 배경과 표현 내용 및 방법에 근거하여 분석하였다. 누구나 자연스럽게 공감할 수 있고, 순간적으로 직감하게 되는 유년 시절의 이미지 표현은 심성적 측면을 내용으로 하여 아동적 표현이나 구체적 사물의 사용을 배제하였으며 부드러움, 가벼움, 빛남, 맑고 투명함, 신비함 등을 느끼게 하는 추상적인 이미지로 표현하였다. 어린아이와 같은 마음의 눈으로 볼 수 있고, 상상에 의해 채워질 수 있는 내부를 가진 것으로 해석한 상자를 형태상의 테마로 설정하고, 그 형태를 인간적 정서의 전달과 인식의 가능성을 담는 틀과 같은 의미로 풀이하여 통일감 있고 단순한 형태로 전개하였다. 작품은 신비한 느낌을 주는 내부를 가진 형태로 관심과 시선을 이끌어 부드럽고 아늑한 휴식의 감성을 불러일으키고, 자유롭고 여유로운 교감을 얻을 수 있도록 따뜻하고 밝은 분위기와 유희적 공간을 연출하였다. 유희적인 태도와 방법에 의해 다루어진 재료와 색채는 촉감과 시각적 특징이 부드럽고 밝으며, 따뜻하고 섬세한 감성을 전달하고, 작품을 대할 때 손을 대고 싶은 친밀감을 자아내 어린아이처럼 신선하고 환한 인상의 마음 상태를 유도하고, 연상하게 하는 표현 효과를 갖는다. 본 연구는 인간의 감정을 순화시키는, 미술이 지향해야 할 기본적이고 긍정적인 기능의 회복과 확장을 기대하는 입장에서 진행되었고, 부드럽고 아름다운 인간의 심성의 표현을 주제로 하여 인간에 대한 신뢰의 심화된 의식을 내포할 수 있는 표현 가능성을 모색하는 계기와 과정이 된다.
