일본 가스리(병)기법의 표현연구

Abstract

The traditional japanese techniques of dyeing and textile have been used by incorporating modern techniques one of them is KASURI. KASURI is defined as those textile patterns which has fuzzy boundaries. The feature of KASURI technique is wearing by using resist-dyeing with strings. Japanese KASURI textile has short history compared with Indonesian IKAT. KASURI does not have special tradtional frame but has liberal patterns. I am trying to understand liberal characteristics of KASURI and create an artistic KASURI textile which can to used in daily life. The purpose of this study to create a purely artistic expression of KASURI based on a typical traditional KASURI products. In order to create more liberal and intersting textiles, a new dyeing using warp dyes with brush printing and weft dyes with tapestry method are considered. By this approach a new nay for technical progress with beauty and new unique dyeing techniques based on traditional textile can be obtained. This approach will help to create a new concept of KASURI textile-fiber arts, and develop a new dyeing design.;일본의 직물은 기계문명의 발달과 새로운 染織기법이 발달되고 있는 반면 고대부터 사용된 染織技法이나 防染技法의 技術이 현재에도 상당수 사용되어지고 있다. 이러한 전통적 染織技法의 하나로 가스리 ( □ =かすり )가 있다. 가스리란 문양의 경계선이 살짝 스친것처럼 보이는 것에서 온 명칭으로 실뭉치를 부분부분 묶어서 문양의 부분을 防染해서 염색한 실로 직조한 것을 말한다. 인도에서 발생한 남방계의 원색의 화려한 색채, 그로테스크한 문양의 이카 ( Ikat )는 海上經路을 통해 14∼15C에 오끼나와 (沖繩)에 상륙하여 감색과 흰색 이라고 하는 실로 청결하고 상쾌한 일본 가스리 직물로 발달하였다. 특히, 인도네시아의 이카는 귀족여인들에 의해 전수되어 왔고, 그들 신앙과 깊은 관련을 맺으며 발전되어 온 반면, 일본의 가스리 직물은 서민들에 의해 발전되어 상류층에까지 이르렇고, 간단하며 단순하고 정결한 染織으로 제작되어 졌다. 이에 본인은, 가스리가 가지고 있는 미를 살리고, 예술가가 자기의 사고를 그림이나 조각으로 표현하는 것 처럼 개인의 창의력이 발휘 되고, 예술적인 표현이 가능하도록 연구하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 전개하기 위하여 본 논문에서는, 가스리에 대한 일반적 개념을 우선 파악하고 전통적 기법의 제작과정에 대해 서술하였다. 그리고, 이러한 내용과 본인의 작품제작을 통하여 본인 나름의 생활공간을 의식한 새로운 직물을 제작함으로써, 가스리기법이 앞으로 현대 섬유예술 작가들의 적극적 참여와 연구발전에 일익을 담당하고자 한다.
