미적 발달에 관한 일 연구

Abstract

예술창작을 가능케 하는 심리적 과정과 예술작품에 대한 반응에 관심을 가지는 예술심리학에서는 예술창작과 감상에 관련된 인지능력을 강조하고 있다. 최근의 연구들은 예술작품에 대한 아동의 미적 반응을 인지발달적으로 접근하고 있는데, 이러한 연구들은 Piaget와 Kohlberg의 인지발달적 전통내에 있으며. 미적 발달에 관한 주요한 기초가 된다. 인지발달의 측면에서 본 미적 발달은 단계별로 이루어지며. 각 단계는 그 단계의 미적 판단구조를 가진다. 이같은 구조는 미적 판단에 적용되는 준거의 틀로 구성되는데, 미적 판단의 하위 단계와 상위 단계는 미적 판단의 준거가 다르다. 즉. 어린 나이에는 소재, 색 등 예술작품의 분명한 특성에 근거하여 판단하지만, 나이가 들수록 양식, 구도 등과 같은 예술작품의 형식적 특성에 근거한 판단을 내린다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 미적 발달을 아동기와 청소년기에 국한하여 그 특징적 발달양상을 재확인하고, 성별, 어머니의 미적 관심정도와 과외로 받는 미술교육의 정도 등의 변인들이 미적 판단의 발달에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 피험자는 국민하교 2, 4, 6학년과 중학교 2학년 남, 녀학생 200명이 무선 표집되어 실험자의 지시를 들은 뒤 실험자가 제작한 질문지와 그림에 대해 반응하였는데, 그림의 선택에 대한 이유는 질문지에 주관식으로 응답하게 하였다. 진술된 이유들은 범주에 따라 분류, 처리되었다. 실험결과는 학년, 성별, 어머니의 미적 관심의 정도. 과외로 받은 미술교육의 정도 등의 각 변인에 대하여 x2 검증으로 통계처리하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 학년에 따른 미적 판단의 준거는 유의미하게 달랐고, 학년이 올라갈수록 예술작품의 형식적 특성에 근거한 미적 판단이 증가하였다. 2. 미적 판단에 있어 성차는 유의미하지 않았다. 3. 어머니의 미적 관심의 정도가 높을수록 미적 판단을 내릴 때 어머니의 미적 관심의 정도가 낮은 경우보다 상위단계의 준거에 근거하였다. 4. 아동의 미술교육 정도에 따른 미적 판단의 준거에는 의미있는 차이가 있었다.;The study of aesthetic judgement is a central issue of aesthetic development theory, being approached by cognitive development theory nowadays. The aesthetic development is consist of several stages and each stage has its own aesthetic judgement structure. The structure is composed of a set of criteria that are applied to the aesthetic judgement, and the criteria of aesthetic judgement in upper stages differ from those in the lower stages. That is, children make aesthetic judgement on works of art on the basis of obvious properties such as subject matters and colors, while elder people do on the basis of formal character such as style and composition. This study reensured specific mode of development of aesthetic development and examined the influence of sex difference, mother's interest in art, and art education to the aesthetic development. 50 subjects at each of four grade levels (2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th) were tested in the study. The subjects were randomly selected from the classes of elementary school and middle school. After experimenter's instruction was given. they were asked to respond to the given questions and pictures, and to state the reason for their choice of the picture among the given. Those statements were classificated into several categories. The results of the expriment have been statistically analyzed by x^(2) verification, the variables of which are subject's grade, sex, degree of art education, mother's interest degree in art. The results are follows : 1. There are significant differences in the criteria of aesthetic judgement among the grades. The upper the grade goes, the more students make aesthetic judgement by the formal characteristics of the object. 2. Sex difference does not show a significant difference in making aesthetic judgement. 3. The subject whose mother's interest degree in art is high makes the aesthetic judgement by upper stage criteria, while the subject whose mother's interest degree in art is low does by lower stage criteria. 4. The degree of art education makes a significant influence to a subject's criteria in aesthetic judgement.
