청소년 약물남용 예방프로그램에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 청소년 약물남용 문제와 그 예방프로그램에 대해 서구에서 실시되고 있는 또래를 활용하는 프로그램의 문헌 연구를 통하여 살펴봄으로써 사회사업가들이 예방활동에 개입하는데 있어 제공하는데 목적을 둔다. 약물남용은 현대사회가 안고 있는 심각한 문제중의 하나이다. 특히 청소년의 경우 약물남용은 개인 자체의 신체 정신 사회적 성장에 장애를 미칠 뿐 아니라 각종 사고 및 비행 등의 사회문제를 일으키게 하는 요인이 되고있다. 1970년대 이후, 우리사회에 약물남용이 사회문제로 등장한 이래 그 원인 및 실태에 관한 많은 연구가 있어왔지만 아직 이에 대한 예방책은 이룩되지 못한 실정으로 청소년 약물남용 예방을 위한 접근책이 시급히 요구된다고 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 이런 예방 프로그램의 개발을 위하여 청소년 약물 남용의 생물학적 정신역동적 및 사회학적 원인이 청소년의 약물남용에 미치는 영향을 비교 분석하고, 청소년 약물남용에 있어 또래집단이 가장 큰 영향을 미친다는 Elliot 등의 이론을 기초로 하여 현재 서구에서 활용하는 청소년 또래 지향적 프로그램을 제시하고자한다. 예방프로그램을 제시하기 이전에 청소년기의 발달적 특성과 또래 집단의 여러 기능에 대해 고찰한 후 청소년기에 있어 집단 사회사업이 가지는 중요성과 집단의 여러 기능을 목적별로 교육, 성장, 사회화, 치료, 사회행동집단으로 분류하여 청소년 약물 예방 프로그램에 있어서의 활용성을 분석한다. 또한 프로그램을 정보, 교육, 대안, 개입으로 각각 분류하여 연구하고 각 예방 양식의 역사적 발달 과정 속에서 시행착오를 거친뒤 청소년에게 효과적이라고 제시된 또래를 활용한 프로그램을 그 내용과 또래 역할 및 집단에서의 사회사업가의 역할에 따라 또래교사, 또래영향, 또래참여, 또래상담/촉진/원조 프로그램으로 나누어 비교 분석하여 그 예방 프로그램에서의 사회사업가의 기여 및 활용 가능성을 모색한다. 각유형의 집단을 비교한 결과 또래교사프로그램은 정보제공을 효과적으로 할 수 있는 교육적 집단, 또래영향프로그램은 청소년의 정서적 교육과 대안 제공의 기능을 하는 성장지향적, 사회화집단, 또래참여 프로그램은 청소년에게 대안을 제공할 수 있는 성장지향적, 사회행동집단, 또래상담프로그램은 청소년의 사회정서적 문제해결을 원조하는 치료집단의 기능을 할 수 있었으며, 사회사업가는 프로그램의 조직자, 안내자, 촉진자, 지도자의 역할을 하였다. 모든 프로그램의 공통된 특성은 또래집단을 서비스를 전달하고 행동을 변화시키는 수단으로 한다는 것으로, 특히 책임을 맡은 청소년의 경우 비교적 적은 훈련으로 또래를 위한 보호적 자원이 될 수 있을뿐 아니라, 그 자신에게도 많은 효과가 나타날 것이다.;This researh concerns the drug abuse problem of youths and its prevention program. The purpose of this research is to provide - through the literary study of published material regarding peer programs in the West - the basic knowledge needed for social workers to carry on prevention activities. Drug abuse is one of the most serious problems faced by the modern society, Espeially in the case of youths, it not only hinders physical, mental, and social growth of an individual, but also causes of problems such as juvenile delinquency. Much research has been conducted since the seventies regarding drug abuse in our society, but there has been little progress toward implementing preventive measures. An action inthe diretion of preventing drug abuse by youths is greatly needed. This paper is an attempt at developing a prevention program. This ppaper compares and analyzes the effects of biological and psycho-dynamic and social factors on drug abuse by youths, and suggests a peer-oriented preevention program based on the theory of Elliot and others which considers the peer group as the most influential factor in drug abuse by youths. In order to propose such a prevention program, this paper first takes a look at the developmental charateristics of youths and the various funtions of peer groups in social work, then analyzes the availability of peers in drug abuse prevention program for youths by considering the importance of soial group work in youths and classifying the functions of group activity. This paper also looks into program approaches which are classified into information, eduation, alternatives, and intervention programs, Then it goes on to compare and analyze peer oriented programs that were proposed as effetive for youths as a result of trial-and-error in the process of their historical development. These programs are divied into peer influence program, peer teaching program, peer counceling/facilitating/helping program and peer participating program according to its content and the role of social workers, in order to consider the possible contribution of social workers in these programs. The results of these analyses show that social workers take on the role of organizer, facilitator, enabler, and leader in these programs. The common characteristic of all programs was that these programs utilize peer groups as a means to transmit service and to change behavior. Particularly, the youths who were given responsibilities not only became a peer resource for the peers with a relatively little trading, but also he himself was able to benefit from the responsibilities.
