왈츠에 대한 小考

Abstract

One of the benefits of modern society is that it provides its members with an increasing amount of leisure time. This fact makes it necessary, more than ever, that each person use this time is a productive manner. This research paper discusses the waltz as a form of dance which could be adapted to fill some of this leisure time. In other words, the waltz could be considered to be a new type of recreation activity. In addition, the waltz which has some similiarities with a Korean folk rhythm or Se-ma-chi suggests the possibility that a kind of "international recreation" could be developed using both Korean folk rhythms and the waltz. As a foundation for this study, the history of the waltz was examined according to the following divisions: First Period (1750-1819) During this period the waltz was in its full glory. It was as if all were captivated by its charm. Second Period (1820-1910) The waltz became more popular as "pure music" rather than as a dance. Third Period (1910- ) in Great Britian, a new slower waltz appeared and became popular. It was called "ballroom dancing." The period of the artistic development of the waltz is one without peer. The ideals of the French Revolution; freedom and equality were reflected in this new form of dance as opposed to courtly dances such as the minuet. The minuet was required as a part of an upper class education, whereas the waltz was danced to be enjoyed by all the people. The waltz was danced to honor the recovery of the human spirit and equality. Times have changed, but now the waltz can be thought of as a new form of recreation. In conclusion, the further development of the waltz will offer many possibilities and many new directions.;現代入은 지금까지 人間이 이룩한 과학문명과 利器의 도움으로, 빼앗겼던 餘暇를 되찾고있다. 따라서 現代는 증가하는 여가의 적절한 활용이 그 어느때보다도 절실히 요구되고 있다 하겠다. 本硏究는 社交舞踊의 대표라 할 수 있는 왈츠를 택하여 硏究하여 그것이 현대인의 여가활용에 이용되는 레크리에이션에 응용될 수 있는가의 가능성을 모색한다. 특히 왈츠는 한국 민요장단과 유사점을 지니고 있어 두 분야의 운용과 합치를 통해 다양한 형태의 국제적인 레크리에이션이 개발될 수 있음을 시사해준다. 이를 위하여 우선 왈츠의 유래와 발전사를 구분해보면 그 특성이 다음과 같이 나타난다. 제 1기 : 1750년경 부터 서서히 대중에게 각광받기 시작, 연기를 누리던 왈츠는 제 2기 : 1819년 이후 점점 쇠퇴, 순수음악으로서 성행하게 된다. 제 3기 : 1910년 볼룸댄스 형식의 영국식 왈츠가 다시 등장하게된다. 藝術의 發展은 時代의 특성을 반영하는 바 왈츠도 예외일 수는 없다. 프랑스혁명에 의하여 고조된 自由 ·平等思想은 혁명전 특수계층에 의하여 향유되었던 궁정무용인 미뉴엣을 제치고 왈츠라는 새로운 무용형식이 나타나게 하였다. 미뉴엣이 上流層의 필수교양이었던 반면, 왈츠는 즐거움을 위해 자발적으로 참여하는 것으로 대중들의 마음을 사로잡았다. 왈츠는 인간성의 회복과 平等主義를 구가하였다. 現代社會외 흐름도 왈츠가 수용되었던 시대정신의 계승이라고 볼 때 현대적 대중 레크리에이션에 왈츠가 새롭게 적용되어 모든 사람들에게 애호될 수 있는 가능성이 다시 부각되는 것이다. 이에 본인은 위의 가능성을 기대하고 또 여러가지 방향을 모색, 발전시키고자 하는 것이다.
