현대 자수를 통한 공간에서의 동굴 이미지 표현 연구

Abstract

예술에 있어서의 표현은 인간이 경험한 모든 것들 가운데 선택된 소재를 갖고 그것과 상응하는 예술적 수단을 이용하여 나타내는 것으로 인간 내부의 정신적 내용을 구체적으로 형상화할 때 표현이 이루어진다. 조형 예술 전반적인 시각에서 볼 때 오늘날 섬유 예술 분야는 조형적 표현 가능성을 추구하는 현대 섬유 작가들에 의해 기존의 공예에 머물러 있던 영역을 새로운 재료와 기법, 표현 형식을 통해 확대, 변화시켰다. 전통의 틀에서 벗어나기 위해 예술적 자율성을 주장하고 나선 현대 미술의 타 장르와 마찬가지로 재료의 가치를 소중히 여기는 공예 분야 역시 그 전통의 틀을 벗어나면서 새로운 조형성을 추구하고 있다. 그 중 자수의 분야도 마찬가지로 실과 바늘만을 이용하여 일정한 자수 기법으로 형태를 메꾸던 전통적 자수 기법과 재료의 획일성에서 벗어나 발전된 현대 자수의 모습을 찾고, 보다 다양한 재료와 효과적인 표현 기법에 관한 연구의 필요성을 느꼈다. 따라서 본 연구는 자연 속에서의 동굴을 소재로 사실적 장면에 근거하여 부분적으로 왜곡 또는 변형하여 표현하고, 화면에서 보여지는 공간의 배경처리와 부재료들을 이용하여 표현을 극대화 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이론적 배경으로는 국내외 문헌 조사를 바탕으로 하여 동굴에 관한 고찰과 함께 조형 예술 안에서의 공간에 관하여 고찰하고, 표현 매체를 이용하여 현대자수 작품에 적용 분석해 보고자 한다. 이러한 연구과정을 바탕으로 실제 작품을 제작하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주재료인 견사를 사용하여 실의 굵기, 꼬임수, 꼬임의 형태에 다양한 변화를 줄 수 있었으며, 본 연구자의 의도에 따라 색채의 자유로운 혼합이 이루에 지도록 하였다. 둘째, 바탕천을 부직포로 이용하여 염색의 효과에서 오는 공간적 배경을 최대로 살리고 원근감과 질감 표현을 나타내고자 하였다. 세째, 부재료로 우드락을 이용하여 동굴속에 나타난 종유석과 석순, 석주 등의 입체감을 강조하려 하였고, 또한 동굴 밖의 자갈 표현도 우드락을 사용하여 부조적인 표현의 효과를 기대하였다. 네째, 거친면의 표현과 깊이감의 표현은 색감의 표현과 함께 마천을 작품 제작에 활용하여 화면 안에서 보여지는 공간의 깊이와 재질감을 함께 나타내도록 노력하였다. 다섯째, 동굴 표현에 있어서 코일링과 엮기의 기법을 부분적으로 이용하여 대상의 형태를 보다 상징적이고 단순화하는 작품을 제작하려 하였다. 따라서 현대 자수에 있어서 공간속의 동굴이미지 표현은 다양한 재료의 사용과 그에 적합한 표현 기법에 의해 이루어진다. 이것은 작품 제작의 중요한 요소가 되며 이에 대한 연구와 노력이 중요한 과제로 인식된다.;Expression in arts represents the subject, that is chosen among what a human being has experienced, by using the corresponding artistic means. Such expression is accomplished by concretely shaping the spiritual content of the inside of a man. From the viewpoint of general formative arts, fiber arts is no longer confined to embroidery, dying and weaving. Modern fiber artists have expanded and changed the realm of fiber arts by developing new technique, materials and forms of expression. The area of industrial arts, which emphasizes the value of materials, overcomes traditional framework and seeks for new formative characteristics, similarly to other genres of modern arts which put emphasis on artistic automy in order to get over the traditional framework. Particulary, the area of embroidery need find developed features of modern embroidery and research into more various materials and effective technique, which consists of shaping forms by using only needles and threads in a regular manner, and the uniformity of material. Thus, the purpose of this research is to express caves in nature based on the realistic scenery with partial distortion and change, and to maximize the expression by both treating the background scenery of the spaces in the surface and utilizing auxilary materials. The theoretical background is to examine both caves and spaces in formative arts based on domestic and foreign literature, and to analyze modern embroidery works by applying the expressive means. The actual work is done based on the above research procedure. The result of this research is the following. First, it is possible both to create various changes to the main material, silk thread, in the thickness, the number of twist and the form of thread, and freely mix colors as intended by an artist. Second, by using felt as the basis fabric, the work maximizes the spatial background created by the effect of dyeing, and expresses the sense of perspective and texture. Third, both the roughness of a surface and the deepness of space are represented by expressing the feeling of color and utilizing hemp clothes in work. Fourth, the sense of perspective of the stalactites, stalagmites and stone pillars in a cave is well represented by using wood-rock as an auxiliary material. In addition, wood-rock provides the pebbles outside a carve with the expressive effect similar to embossed carving. Fifth, the work symbolizes and simplifies the form of an object by partially adopting coiling and pleating in expressing a cave. The expression of the image of a cave in the modern embroidery is represented by using varies materials and proper technique of expression. And, the spatial expression of a cave is an important factor. Thus, it is an important task to study and pursue theses aspects.
