다의적 개념으로서의 오브제

Abstract

20세기 다원주의 양상이 대두되면서 현대미술은 새로운 사회, 문화적 동향의 흐름속에 그 개념조차 바뀌어 가고 있을 만큼 다양성을 지니게 되었다. '현대미술은 이미 끝났다'라는 예언이 되풀이 되고 있음에도 불구하고 오늘날의 미술은 점차 새로운 표현 방식의 확대와 내용의 변화로 현실과 예술 두 양극 사이를 적극적으로 연결시켜주고있다. 현대 예술작품에 있어서 시각 표현방법의 다양한 공존은 화면과 대상 그리고 작가의 관계를 좀더 독자적이며 총체적인 것이 되게 하였으며 예술 작품은 다시 그 내용성을 회복하여 다의적 가치로 복귀하게 되었다. 현대미술의 한 표현방법으로써 오브제(Object)의 사용은 입체파 (Cubism) 이후 마르셀 뒤샹(Marcel Duchamp, 1887∼1968)의 레디 메이드(Ready-made)가 등장하면서 표현의 새로운 길을 트기위한 수단으로서 발전하였고 또한 예술 그자체로서 자리잡기에 이르렀다. 이러한 관점에서 본인은 적극적인 표현방식으로서 오브제(object)를 작품에 도입하여 작업의 다양성을 꾀하는 동시에 물질로서의 오브제가 은유적 표현을 통하여 다의적인 개념으로 전환되는 것을 작업을 통하여 실험하였다. 따라서 본연구에서는 예술 작품 안에서 나타나는 오브제들의 개념과 물질로서의 오브제에 내재되어있는 정신적인 의미를 찾아보며 본인 작품에 있어서 선택된 오브제가 지니는 다의적인 개념에 대하여 서술하고 오브제 작품의 전시 방법으로 설치(Installation)에 대해 연구해 보고자 한다. 본인작품 제작과정에서 나타나는 작품의 표현방식이나 내용은 오브제 차용에 있어 그 물질이 지니는 속성에 보다 적극적으로 접근하는 방식을 취하고 있으며 그로 인해 보여지는 작품은 시각적인 조형성도 간과 하지 않으려 노력하였다. 현대미술의 주된 관심사는 작품의 의미작용과 구조이다. 문화사속에서의 예술이라는 측면에서 볼때 본인의 작품이 얼마나 우리가 살고 있는 문화적 정황을 보여주며 또 그 안에서 어떠한 의미작용을 할 수 있는가 라는 질문을 스스로에게 던지게 되었으며 작품에 대한 반성과 함께 앞으로의 방향을 모색하는데 본 연구에 대한 의미를 두고자한다.;Since Pluralism has emerged in the 20th century, there has been so much variety in the form of modern art due to the new social and cultural movement that it changes its original concept. The saying, "Modern art is already dead" , has been being circulated but the art today plays its role by linking the two polars, reality and art, with its new expanded form of expression and changes in its content as well. The coexistence of various forms of visual representation in modem art makes the screen, the object and the artist more unique as well as general, by which the works of art has returned with its value of diversity. Employing object as one of the tools of expression in modem art has been developed after Cubism since 'Ready -Made' by Marcel Duchamp (1887∼1968) was introduced as a new approach of expression and is now accepted as a form of art itself. From this point of view, I aimed at diversity of work by implementing object as an active expression tool and also experimented through my own work on the fact that object in pure material state is restored as a mu1ti - meaningful concept through metaphoric expression. Hence, in this study I will investigate the concepts of object represented in works of art as well as the philosophy embedded in the material state of object. I will also discuss the multi-meaningful concept represented in my own work, and 'installation' as a way of exhibiting object art. The pattern of expression or the content of my own work actively approaches the nature of the borrowed object and tries not to overlook its visual shaping. Modern art is interested in the meaningful operation and the sturcture of a work. This study has meant a lot to me in that it makes me ask myself how much my work represents current culture and what meaningful operation can be shown in it while I examine my own work and try to find the future direction of my work.
