'생명에 대한 그리움'을 주제로 한 시각표현 연구

Abstract

고대인의 사고와는 달리 인류는 근대로 들어오면서 세계를 물질로 파악하는데에 익숙해졌다. 생명과 생명현상을 도외시하고 경제이익만을 추구하는 산업화가 극에 달해 제반 불균형의 문제를 야기시켰다. 20세기에 비로소 불확정성의 원리가 발표되고 카오스, 퍼지이론 등이 세상에 나왔다. 물질을 아무리 분석해도 그 실상을 파악할 수 없고, 목적론적인 발달이 허구였음을 알게되면서 지구환경과 인성에 미친 근대의 결정론적 사고를 수정하게 되었다. 자연과 생명에 대한 진정한 마음과 정서를 재확인하고, 우리 이웃 생명체에 대해 함께 사는 새로운 관계 정립이 절실히 필요하다는 것을 느끼게 되었다. 자연과 생명에 대한 그리움은 예로부터 인간의 근원적인 합일에 대한 열망이었다. 20세기 후반을 사는 우리에게는 이에 대하여 실천과 더불어 더욱더 큰 의미가 있게 되었다. 본 연구에서 다루고자 하는 것은 '생명에 대한 그리움'이다. 생명과 생명체에 대한 그리움은 생명과의 교감이며, '생명이 그리워 했던 것들'을 사유하는 과정이다. 생명에 대한 인식은 생명체의 '자발성'에서 나온 다원화에 대한 존중과 생명체 사이의 유기적 공생관계에 대한 공감을 바탕으로 해야한다. 본 연구는 이러한 추상적 인식을 구체적이면서 총체적으로 시각화하는 것이다. 그래서 본 연구자는 생명체에 대한 마음의 움직임을 언뜻 발견할 수 있는 인간의 몸짓, 빛·하늘·물·땅·지구 상의 생명체, 생명체에 대한 외경사상의 표상인 고대로부터의 상징 등··· 구체적인 이미지 표현 단위에 관심을 가졌다. 각개의 표현단위들이 주체적으로 다양성을 지니며, 모여져서는 다각도로 다원적 이미지를 이루어 유기적인 관계와 균형을 이루도록 하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 구성은 다음과 같다. Ⅱ장에서는 본 연구의 논리적 전제로서 먼저 생명철학과 과학에서 파악하는 생명과 생명체의 개념을 문헌을 통해 살펴보고, 생명 표현 사례를 살펴보았다. 생명과 생명체에 대해 인간이 가지는 그리움이 어떤 의미를 지니는가 하는 것과 현대의 생명에 대한 인식을 고찰하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 작품 전개로 먼저, 표현에 있어서 다원화와 다층화를 표방하는 양식의 사례를 살펴보았다. 다음으로 '생명에 대한 그리움'에 대한 제작 의도를 밝히고 이미지 전개에서는 인간의 내면적 표상인 몸짓, 지구 상의 생명 현상과 생명체, 고대로부터의 상징 등 각 이미지의 의미를 고찰하였다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 작품 7점을 표현하고 분석하였다. 이 연구의 시각표현들은 생명에 대한 사유를 형상화함으로써 현대의 인간이 회복해야 할 생명에 대한 감성의 문제를 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 '생명에 대한 그리움'을 다원화와 다층화 양식을 가지고 시각적 표현 가능성을 찾는 노력이었으며, 자신의 조형언어를 발견하는 과정이었다.;However, the ancient people have a little different points of view, our human beings have disregarded life and life phenomenon because we are accustomed to perceive that the whole world consiste of material and have brought out the various unbalanced problems that have hampered the harmonious growth because we have persued economical profits according to industrialization. As the principle of uncertainty, the chaos theory and the theory of fuzzy were issued at the dawn of twenty centry, we managed to understand that material is ungraspable eventhough it can be analyzed and that the teleological industrialization is false. Furthermore, we have modified the modern deterministic thinking that had affected the environment of earth and human nature and have felt affection toward the nature and life with genuine feelings and emotions. Therefore, we keenly feel the necessity that the new relationship of coexistence with living things should be established. The longing for the nature and life was the desire for reaching the basic union between human beings in the past but it turns to have more significant practical meanings in present day. The theme of this thesis is ‘the longing for life’. The longing for life and living things is to foster rapport between living things and is the process of thinking what the life itself yearns for. The recognition for life should be made on the basis of the respect about pluralism which results from the spontaneity of living things and sympathy on relations of the organic coexistence between living things. The purpose of this thesis is to visualize these abstract recognitions totally. Therefore, I am interested in the expressive units of the concrete images, for example, the human gestures in which the sympathy for life can be found in an instant and the living things on the earth namely, light, sky, water and earth, and the ancient images which can be symbolized of reverential thoughts about living things. I will try to shape the expressive units of the concrete images with diversity and subjectivity. The pluralistic images should be manifested subjectively by the concrete expressive units with diversity and also the concrete expressive units with diversity should be created by the organic relations and balances. Hence, this thesis is consisted as follows; In the second chapter as a logical premise of this thesis, I considered the concept of life and some examples of life in philosophical and scientific terms. I made researchs through literatures on what the longing for life means for human beings. In the third chapter as the development of works, you will see some modes which advocate pluralistic and multilayered expressions. Especially, I contemplated the visual characteristics and meanings through the development of images, for instance, the gestures which represents human nature, the life on the earth and the images from the ancient times. And then I analyzed my seven works through the above-mentioned points of view. This study contains the process of discovering my own formative language and the possibilities that it is possible for the longing for life to be visualized pluralistically and multilayeredly.
