자화상을 통해 본 자아 표현 연구

Abstract

Painters have done the work to confirm themselves by deepening the confrontation consciousness with themselves, appealing and pouring the inner character or inevitability which is in the external form as well as their own external form. The work came to reflect the time spirit, through surmounting the expression limited only to individual problem, by getting to be conscious of the self in the environment surrounded themselves, with the maturity of self-consciousness of painters attendant upon the change of time. And, in the modern society to be spoken for 'humanity loss' and 'subjectivity loss' by the development of scientific civilization and mass media, self-portrait came to put the true meaning in seeking the new life by getting out of material civilization through speaking for the inner trouble and spiritual wandering form that the modems undergo. In this sense, I tried to express the inner emotion of human being who lead the life of modem time through self-portrait. And, I tried to show the susceptibility of one time as well as individual sensitivity. In this study, I studied the meaning of self-portrait and the historical process that it came to reflect the form of time in directly, above all. And, I described the meaning of self expressed in my self-portrait which was manufactured on the basis of this background concretely. Next, so as to make this meaning into form more effectively, about the symbolic expression introduced with expression method of my work, I examined about the role and meaning that it have in painting. And, about the light and color which are being expressed with especially important plastic language for the role of symbol in my work, by examining the background that it came to be able to perform the function of symbol which is not the implemental dimension for reproduction with the charact eristic of painting history briefly, I tried to help the under-standing about my work which came to compose the picrure based on light and blue hue in the expression process through work. Lastly, in the work analysis, through examining and analyzing the point, "How is the subject expressed in my work?", by examining the expressive result and points at issues, I tried to make it be helpful to future work.;화가들은 자화상을 통해 자기의 외형적인 모습은 물론 그 속에 들어 있는 내적인 성격이나 필연성을 호소하고 쏟아 부으며 자기와의 대결 의식을 심화 시켜 나감으로써 자신을 확인하는 작업을 해왔다. 이러한 작업은 시대의 변천에 따른 화가들의 자의식의 성숙으로 점차 자신을 둘러싼 환경 속에서의 자아를 의식하게 됨으로써 개인의 문제에만 국한된 표현을 넘어서서 시대정신을 반영하게 되었고 과학문명과 대량매체의 발달로 인한 '인간성 상실', '주체성 상실'로 대변되는 현대사회에서 자화상은 현대인이 겪는 내적 갈등과 정신적 방황의 모습을 대변함으로써 물질문명에서 벗어나 새로운 삶을 추구하는 데에 진정한 의미를 두게 되었다. 이러한 의미에서 본인도 자화상을 통해 현대를 살아가는 인간의 내적 정서를 표현해 보고자 하였으며 그 속에서 개인의 감성 뿐 아니라 한 시대의 감수성을 보여 주고자 했다. 본 논문에서는 우선, 자화상의 의미와 그것이 시대의 모습을 간접적으로 반영하게 된 역사적 과정을 고찰하였으며, 이러한 이론적 배경을 근간으로 하여 제작되어진 본인 자화상에 표현된 자아의 의미를 구체적으로 서술하였고 그 다음으로는 이러한 의미를 보다 효과적으로 형상화시키기 위하여 본인 작업의 표현방법으로 도입된 상징적 표현에 대하여 그것이 회화속에서 갖는 역할과 의미에 대해 알아보았으며 본인의 작품에서 상징의 역할을 위하여 특히 중요한 조형 언어로서 표현되고 있는 빛과 색채에 대해 그것이 재현을 위한 도구적 차원이 아닌 상징의 기능을 수행할 수 있게 된 배경을 회화사적으로 간략히 살펴봄으로써 작업을 통한 표현과정에서 빛과 청색조를 바탕으로 한 화면을 구성하게 된 본인의 작품에 대한 이해를 돕고자 하였다. 마지막으로 작품 분석에서는 본인의 작품에서 어떠한 방식으로 대상을 표현하는가 하는 점을 검토하고 분석함으로써 그 표현적 성과와 문제점을 살펴 앞으로의 작업에 도움이 되고자 하였다.
