프리미티비즘을 응용한 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 문화속에서 조성된 내적 욕구와 미의식을 표현하는 가시적 조형물로서 개인의 욕구 충족은 물론 그 시대의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화적인 측면을 반영한다. 이에 따라 오늘날의 복식 디자인은 현대 사회에 대두되고 있는 여러가지 시대적 상황에 부응하여 다양한 연구와 새로운 방법의 시도가 요구되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 현대 사회가 산업화, 기계화됨에 따라 대두되는 자원고갈 및 환경오염 문제와 기계화에 따른 인간성 상실에 관한 문제가 야기되는 시점에서 부각되고 있는 현대 복식 디자인에서의 자연에 대한 관심과 근원으로 돌아가자는 움직임에 초점을 맞추어 이러한 흐름이 바탕이 되는 프리미티비즘의 조형적 특성을 규명하고 복식 디자인에 재구성하여 현대의 일상 복식에 대한 새로운 이미지 창출의 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 방법은 문헌고찰을 통한 이론적 연구와 그것을 토대로한 작품제작으로 구성하였다. 본 연구의 내용은 문헌고찰로써 프리미티비즘의 발생배경 및 개념과 특성을 분석하였고, 현대 미술에 나타난 프리미티비즘을 고찰하고 프리미티비즘이 현대복식에 어떻게 도입되어 표현되고 있는가를 프리미티비즘의 조형적 특성인 자연성과 토속성, 추상성으로 분류하여 살펴보았다. 작품제작은 실용성에 중점을 두고 조형미를 강조한 투피스와 원피스 등으로 구성하였으며, 작품 소재는 천연 섬유와 감각적으로 자연적 특성을 나타내는 나무결 무늬의 느낌이 나는 소재를 사용하였다. 색상은 자연색인 베이지와 브라운 색상을 주색으로 하였고 섬유의 올을 풀거나 땋고, 묶는 기법을 사용하여 원시적 특성을 현대 감각에 맞게 응용한 총 8점의 작품으로 실물 5점과 일러스트레이션 3점으로 제작하였다. 문헌 연구 결과 프리미티비즘의 특성은 자연 그대로의 성질을 중요시하는 자연성과 아프리카 오세아니아 등지의 부족민들의 특성을 나타내는 토속성, 그리고 무의식의 세계, 어린아이들의 장난과도 같은 순진무구하고 자유분방한 내면의 세계를 상징적으로 표현한 추상성의 3가지로 분류되었다. 작품제작 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프리미티비즘의 특성은 미적 가치 추구의 측면에서 다양한 방법으로 복식에 표현 되어져 왔으며, 현대 복식 디자인에 응용가치가 높음을 인식할 수 있었다. 둘째, 올의 풀림, 묶음, 땋는 기법 등을 통해 원시적 장식의 8현 방법에 대한 재현과 이를 현대 복식에 전개시켜 그 미적 가치를 현대로 유도하여 이러한 장식적 모티브를 활용할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 솔기가 겉으로 드러난 처리, 패치워크된 이음새를 손바느질로써 스티치 처리한 기법 등의 원시적인 모티브의 새로운 응용의 가능성과 서로 다른 바느질 기법에 의한 다양한 표현 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 네째, 원시적 복식의 단순함과 형식적이고 기계적이지 않은 자연스런 특성을 고려하여 복식에서 칼라나 포켓, 겉으로 드러나는 단추의 여밈처리를 배제함으로써 단순한 현대적 감각으로 수용하여 표현할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 프리미티비즘의 자연적 특성을 응용하여 현대 생활에 활용할 수 있는 실용복으로 디자인, 제작함으로써 원시적 순수미를 동경하는 현대인의 심리를 충족시킴과 동시에 일반 대중의 복식 생활에 활력을 줄 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 프리미티비즘의 자연성만을 응용 대상으로 하였다. 프리미티비즘의 양식은 무한한 디자인 요소들을 가지고 있으며 과거의 유물로 낳아있는 것이 아니라 복식 디자인의 새로운 아이디어와 모티브를 제공해주는 귀중한 자료로서 현대 복식 디자인의 응용 범위를 확대시킬 수 있는 발전적 요소로서의 가치를 지닌다.;Fashion reflects politics, economy, society, culture and personal neecs, as an external model which expresses internal needs and an aesthetic sense shaped in culure. Desing of modern fashion also reflects various phenomena in modern society. Therefore, the various and new studies on the fashion are needed. The purpose of this study is to look into the modeling characteristics of primitivism which is based on interest in the nature and movement of returning to the origin and to suggest the new way of image creation in general modern fahion through fashion recomposition. The contents of this study are as follows. This study theoretically analyzes the concept, origin and characteriscs of primitivism, compares primitivism of art and modern fashion, and analyzes how primitivism is introduced and expressed in modern fashion, considering natural characteristics, local custom, amd abstract characteristics which are modeling characteristics of primitivism. The mothodologies of this study are as follows. Literature and pictures are referred and analyzed for thoretical study. And the work is procuced based on the natural characteristics of primitivism. The work is composed of one-piece dress and two-piece dress focused on practical use. The work consists of eight piece-five pieces of dress and three pieces of illustration. The findings of this study are as follows. First, primitivism has been variously expressed in fashion in terms of aesthetic value and can be variously applied to modern fashion. Second, By losing and knitting of ply, the revival of primitive embellishment is possible. The aesthetic value can be introduced in the modern fashion. And the decrative motif can be shared as the modeling unit. Third, the useful possibility of primitive motif, for example handling seam, stitiching the patchwork and the like, and the various expression of the different needling is suggested. Fourth, By Excluding the adjusting of collars, pockets and buttons, considering simple characteristics of primitive fashion, modern simple expression is possible. Fifth, Through designing the practical clothes based on the natural characteristics of primitivism, the personal needs in present times can be satisfied and the fashion life of people can be alive. This study considers only natural characteristics of primitivism as application subject. Primitivism is not a relic of the past, but an infinite design factor, Primitivism, the important data which give the new ideas and motif, can be estimated as development factor which can expand the application of modern fashion.
