국화를 소재로 한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

Among natural objects, flowers give us visual joy and spiritual comfort, and are expressed by the beauty of curved lines, They may be the representatives of all natural objects in color and shape. Among them, a chrysanthemum has been presented as a subject material. Korean chrysanthemum is expressed with the mixture of noble and popular beauty from Korea celadon to Chosun punch'ong ware. The study was to use the image of chrysanthemum in ceramics. As a theoretical back ground, I studied generally about chrysanthemums and works which used chrvsanthemum as a subject to make ceramic pieces using chrysanthemum as a subject I used a petal, the calyx, a stamen and a pistil as the base adding some transformations of external shape. I also tried to group the expressional world of works by studing flower-shaped ceramic pieces and reexamining a chryandthemum based on it. When it comes to contents. I designed with the method of contrast, emphasis, simplification. omission. In the work process, I expressed the abundant and complicated petals of chrysanthemum. I also emphasized the stamen and pistil to express the strong vitality of the chrysanthemum. I used mainly a throwing, and produced through coiling, moulding etc to express the image of chrysanthemum. In the bisque firing, it took 7hrs with the end at temperature of 900℃ in the 1.5m^(3), 0.5m^(3) gas kiln. In the reduction firing. it took 10hrs with the end temperature of 1250℃ in the 1.5m^(3), 0.5m^(3) gas kiln, some pieces were fired in low temperature to show the effect of contrast and beauty, and that took 7hrs with 1000℃ in the 0.5m^(3) kiln. Glaze were put on with spraying and dipping. The result of the study were first, it was possible to express and produce several pieces with a chrysanthemum. Second, the strong vitality of chrysanthemum was expressed through the effect of contrast, emphasis, simplification, and omission. Third, it was effective to use coiling to express the curved lines of petals. Fourth, glaze played an important role in works, and showing the effects which were unexpected. I found that chrysanthemum has an infinite design elements, and gives enormous motives, and felt deeply that a study of glaze is needed for the development of ceramics.;자연의 사물에 꽃은 시각적 즐거움과 정신적 위안을 주며 곡선의 아름다움에 의해 표현되었다. 색채와 형태의 아름다움에 있어서도 자연물 중 대표격이라 할 수 있을 것이다. 그 중에서 특히 국화는 고대로부터 조형물의 소재로서 많은 문양과 형태로 나타났다. 한국의 국화는 고려 청자와 조선 분청사기에 이르기까지 귀족스러운 멋과 서민적인 아름다움이 잘 어우러져서 표현되어 있다. 본 연구는 국화의 이미지를 도자에 도입하므로써 도자 조형의 표현 세계를 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로는 국화의 일반적 고찰과 조형성에 관한 연구를 하였다. 국화를 소재로 조형적인 도자를 제작하기 위해 꽃의 구조적 형태인 꽃잎, 꽃받침, 수술·암술을 기본으로 외형적 변형을 가미하여 응용하였다. 현재 제작된 꽃 형태의 도자작품을 조사하였으며 그것에 근거하여 국화를 재조명하여 봄으로써 작품의 표현세계를 심층적으로 모색하고자 하였다. 연구의 내용에 있어서는 국화의 조형성과 생명력을 전달하기 위하여 강조·대비·단순·생략의 방법을 통하여 디자인하였다. 작품 제작의 과정에서는 국화의 풍성하면서도 복잡한 꽃잎을 변형하여 표현하였다. 국화의 강인한 생명력을 표현하기 위하여 꽃술을 강조하였다. 제작 방법으로는 주로 물레성형을 사용하였으며 국화의 조형성을 표현하는데 있어서 코일링 기법, 석고형을 이용한 이장주입법 등 다양한 방법을 통해 작품을 제작하였다. 작품의 특성에 따라 태토는 자기질의 백자토, 분청토, 밀양백토를 사용하였다. 소성에서 1차 소성은 작품의 크기에 따라 1.5m^(3), 0.5m^(3)의 가스 가마에서 마침온도 900℃로 7시간 소성하였다. 2차 소성 역시 1.5m^(3),0.5m^(3)의 가스 가마에서 마침온도 1250℃내외로 10시간 소성하였다. 아름다움과 대비의 효과를 나타내기 위하여 작품에 따라 3차 소성하였고 0.5m^(3)의 가스 가마에서 마침온도 1000℃로 7시간이 소모되었다. 시유는 분무법, 담금기법을 사용하였다. 연구의 결과는 첫째, 국화를 소재로 하여 다양한 작품을 표현하고 제작하는 것이 가능하였다. 둘째, 강조·대비의 효과와 단순·생략의 방법을 통해 국화의 아름다우면서도 강인한 생명력이 표현되었다. 셋째, 꽃잎의 부드러운 곡선표현에 있어서 코일을 이용한 손작업은 효과적이었고 율동감이 나타났다. 넷째, 도자 작업에 있어서 유약이 중요함을 느꼈고, 기대하지 못했던 효과를 볼 수도 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 구체적인 소재인 국화는 무궁무진한 디자인 요소를 갖고 있으며 충분한 모티브를 제시해 준다는 것을 알 수 있었으며 앞으로 도자예술의 발전을 위해 보다 깊은 연구가 필요하다는 것을 느꼈다.
