패션 일러스트레이션 표현 연구

Abstract

패션 일러스트레이션은 성립 초기엔 단순히 의복을 기록하는 실용적 영역에 머물러 있었지만 오늘날에는 패션 일러스트레이션에 대한 관심의 증대와 표현방법의 다양화로 예술의 영역으로까지 확장되었다. 패션 일러스트레이션의 예술적 가치가 고양됨에 따라 작가의 독창성을 표현하기 위해 기존의 재료를 새로운 방법으로 활용하거나, 새로운 재료에 의한 표현연구가 진행됨에 따라 표현기법과 재료가 다양화되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 기존의 표현 재료인 사진을 좀 더 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 새로운 표현 방법으로 젤라틴(Gelatin)기법을 연구하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 사진 인화 방법에서 응용된 젤라틴 기법을 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현방법으로 활용함으로써, 패션 메세지 전달이라는 패션 일러스트레이션의 본래의 기능을 효과적으로 수행하고, 패션 일러스트레이션의 예술적 가치를 높이는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 이론적 배경으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 개념과 역사, 패션 일러스트레이션의 기능 및 활용에 대해 알아보고, 패션 일러스트레이션과 사진과의 관계와 표현재료로 사진을 활용한 패션 일러스트레이션 작품을 연구한다. 작품 제작은 총8점으로 최근의 유행 경향을 반영하기 위하여 95년 가을·겨울과 96년 봄·여름을 위해 발표된 패션 트랜드를 토대로 복식을 디자인 한 후에, 그것에 적합한 재료를 사용하여 인물과 복식을 묘사하고, 작품의 전체적인 분위기를 부각시킬 수 있는 사진의 이미지를 젤라틴 기법을 이용해 표현하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션 일러스트레이션에서 일반적으로 사용되던 사진 활용방법의 한계점을 극복하는 젤라틴 기법은 복식의 아름다움과 작가의 개성을 새로운 감각으로 표현함으로써 패션 메시지를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있다. 둘째, 패션 일러스트레이션에 젤라틴 기법을 활용함으로써 사진적인 톤과 회화가 결합하여 빚어내는 분위기와 일상적인 이미지의 사진이 화면 속에서 새로운 이미지로 창출됨으로써 복식의 미묘한 분위기를 표현하는데 적합하였다. 세째, 젤라틴 기법은 어디에나 사진의 이미지를 전사시킬 수 있고, 두 가지 이상의 이미지가 겹쳐지는 효과를 획득할 수 있으므로 복식의 소재표현은 물론 복합적인 이미지를 표현하는데 적합했다. 네째, 젤라틴 기법은 작품 제작과정 중에 나타나는 신선한 의외성과 함께, 용해제를 사용하는 방법에 따라 다양한 회화적인 효과를 낼 수 있으므로 그 표현방법에 있어 무한한 잠재적인 가능성을 지닌다. 다섯째, 젤라틴 기법은 사진의 인화과정에서 응용되었지만, 패션 일러스트레이션에 소재표현이나 복식의 분위기를 표현하는 새로운 방법으로 시도됨으로써, 보다 다양한 역할이 가능하게 되었다.;Fashion illustration stayed in the boundary of pragmatic use of simply recording the clothing styles in its incept stage. But with the increasing interest in the fashion illustration and the diversification of its expression techniques, it has expanded into and claimed its role in the field of art. As the artistic value for fashion illustration became enhanced, the demand for the researches for new expression techniques and materials the would allow authours to effectively convey their unique creativities to viewers also rose. This study uses, among other latest photographic techniques, the gelatin technique for the fashion illustration. The aim of this study lies in conveying the fashion message with a new sense to the public by using the gelatin technique that is suited for effectively by using representing the abundant images of a photograph and, thereby, elevating the artistic value of fashion illustration. The contents, methods and theoretical support of the study are based on a thorough review and understanding on the functions, application and historical background of fashion illustration as reflected in various references. This study analyses the relationship between the fashion illustration and photograph using some fashion illustration works using photograph. The total 8 works featured in this study took their motifs from the fashion works displayed in various collection for 95's F/W and 96's S/S fashion trends to reflect the most recent fashion trends. After describing the character and clothing style using the material selected for the motifs, the author tried to effectively convey the fashion message by using gelatin technique to illustrate the image of the photograph. The study generated the fellowing results; Firstly, the gelatin techniques used as an expression technique in fashion illustration and convey the fashion message effectively by allowing the author th express the beauty of the clothing style and the authors character in fresh touch. Secondly, the gelatin technique in fashion illustration proved to be ideal for conveying a whole new atmosphere created by the combination of the photographic tone and the painting and incorporated into ordinary image photograph and for illustating the delicate and subtle atmosphere for the clothing style. Thirthly, the gelatin technique can produce the overlap effect of two more images, it is suitable for expressing the material of clothing style and representing composite images. Fourthly, the gelatin technique accommondates the unforeseen effects freshly and beautiful that are incidental during work and gives versatile effects of paintings such as the control of the brightness, darkness and distance sense by the control of the use of the solvent. Finally, the gelatin technique which is a photographic technic based on the principle of developing paper can be successfully incorporated into or utilized as a expression method for fashion illustration.
