인체와 기호의 구성에 의한 상징성 연구

Abstract

This study inquires into the symbolism represented form interrelations between the human body and symbols. Man as a symbolic animal has the ability to consciously or unconsciously symbolize any object he perceives. Human beings of modern times are living in a flood of symbolized signs, think and lead an active life by signs symbolized and visually concretized. Man symbolized the objects of faith or attacks in the primitive ages but symbols now play a functional role in transmitting messages among human beings themselves. When a geometrical form or a symbol comes to be a visual image via symbolization in the state of consciousness in man, it at last has a concrets form. Symbols are omits many contents, in it and appeared in hidden shape, but it implied many contents and conveying more strongly all the contents implied. With this in mind, this study focuses its objective on a new visual phenomenon by compressing subtle changes in man as a symbolic animal and human nature to a symbolic form. An analysis was made, by a theoretical method, of the symbolism of transformations, distortions, and simplified approaches, represented in the depiction of the human body in the history of the fine arts. Concurrently with this, an examination was conducted of how a new symbolic image is produced consequently when symbols and the human body are combined. Moreover, works of the existing artists at home and abroad were analysed. The Ikat Technique was utilized for expressing these. Furthermore, the technique was thoroughly reviewed through its historical background, characteristics, and clasification. As regards the work production, the producing process by the lkat Technique was expounded in detail, along with figures. In conclusion, this study made an attempt to approach to the actual object of ordinary human emotions by shattering man into pieces and simultaneously combining them again for objectively expression. Concurrenty with this, another attempt was made of symbolically inputting on a picture the past, present, and future of human life.;본 연구는 인체와 기호간의 상호 연관성을 통해 보여지는 상징성에 관한 연구이다. 인간은 상징적인 동물로서 어떤 대상을 인지했을 때 그것을 의식적이든, 무의식적이든 상징화시키는 능력을 지니고 있다. 현대를 살아가는 인간은 상징화된 기호의 홍수 속에 살고 있으며, 상징화되어 다시 시각적으로 구체화 되어진 기호에 의해 사고하고 활동한다. 원시시대에는 주술적인 신앙의 대상이나 공격의 대상을 상징화하였고, 현대에 와서는 상징이 인간과 인간 사이에 의미를 전달하는 기능적인 역할을 수행하게 되었다. 기하학적 형상이나 기호는 인간의 의식, 무의식의 상태에서 상징화의 체계를 거쳐 다시 시각적으로 이미지화 될 때 비로소 구체성을 띄게 된다. 상징은 많은 것을 생략하고 감추어진 형태로서 나타나지만 많은 내용을 함축하고 있으며, 함축된 모든 내용을 더 강하게 전달한다. 본 연구는 인간의 미묘한 변화를 상징적인 형태로 압축하여 과학적인 분석과 접근을 통해 새로운 시각현상을 창출하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이론적 방법으로는 예술에 표현된 인체의 표현에서 변형과 분해, 왜곡을 통한 과학적 접근이 의미하는 상징성과 현대 사회가 전달해주는 기호의 상징성을 대립적 의미로서 표출하고자 하였고, 결국 인간의 정신적 구원을 요구하는 정신적 상징과 종교관, 우주관을 만들어 내고자 하였다. 그리하여 결과적으로 기호를 인체와 구성했을 때 어떤 새로운 상징적 이미지를 창출하는지에 대해 살펴보았으며, 국내의 기존 작가들의 작품을 비교 분석하였다. 또한, 이를 표현하는 방법으로서 이카트 (Ikat) 기법을 사용하였으며 따라서 이카트의 역사격 배경과 특성, 분류를 통하여 이카트 기법을 전반적으로 살펴보았다. 작품 제작에 있어서는 이카트 기법으로 제작하는 과정을 그림과 함께 상세하게 설명하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 끊임없는 관심의 대상인 인체와 기호의 구성을 통해 인간을 조각조각 해체시키며 동시에 다시 조합시킴으로써 인간의 보편적인 감정들을 객관적으로 표현하고 실제대상에 보다 본질적인 접근을 시도하고자 하였다. 그리하여 인간의 삶에 대한 과거와 현재, 그리고 미래를 한 화면에 상징적으로 담아내고자 하였다.
