상상력을 통한 역동적 표현

Abstract

오늘날 미술은 다원주의(Pluralism)의 양상을 보인다. 주도적인 양식이나 형식이란 없으며 정설적인 비평의 입장이란 것도 없다. 하나의 용어로서, 다원주의는 어떤 미술을 특정하게 의미하지 않으며 각자의 경험으로부터 체득한 진실에 대한 주관적인 해석을 기본으로 한다. 이러한 상황에서 지극히 개인적이고 주관적인 입장이 강조되면서 이제는 예술에 있어서 공감이란 것이 과연 어느정도 가능한 것인가 하는 의문이 제기될 수 있다. 본인은 개인적인 것을 표현한 화면을 통해서 작가가 다른 사람들과 감정의 교류를 할 수 있다고 보는 기본적인 자세로 이에 접근하고자 한다. 그리고 이런 공감대를 형성하기 위해서는 작가와 감상자 모두가 열린 사고로서의 상상력을 지녀야 한다고 생각한다. 따라서 본인은 상상력을 통한 표현 욕구를 기반으로, 과거에 주도되었던 특정한 사조에 얽매이지 않는 자유로운 사고의 작업 태도를 지향한다. 본인이 비와 바람을 통해 접할 수 있었던 자유로운 감정에 바슐라르의 관점, 즉 우리 눈앞에 펼쳐진 현상들을 상상력을 통해 자유롭게 바라본 그의 시각은 많은 가능성을 제시하였고 본인의 생각을 발전시켰다. 이번 그림들에서 소재로 다룬 물과 공기의 유동성을 눈이라는 감각기관 이외에 상상력의 힘을 더해서 본다면 그것의 속성이 더 잘 드러난다고 생각한다. 이를 표현하는 방법적인 면에서도 다양한 매체와 형식을 다루는 다각적인 시도를 하고자 한다. 상상력을 통한 표현의 역동성이라는 작품 방향을 설정하게 된 근거와 개인적인 사고에 대해 설명하고, 역동적인 표현 방법과 화면의 통합형식에 있어서 게르하르트 리히터(Gerhard Richter: 1932∼), 로버트 라이만(Robert Ryman: 1930∼)의 작품에서 유사점을 들어 본인 작품 분석에 도움을 주고자 한다. 본 논문은 본인의 작품 제작과 관련지어 내용적 측면과 방법적 측면을 연구하고 작품에 대한 분석으로 구성되어 있다. 내용적 연구에서는 상상력의 적용과 표현에 있어서의 역동성, 개방적인 화면 인식에 대해 연구해 보고, 방법적 연구에서는 매체의 특성을 살린 중첩 방식과 통합의 구조적 형식을 연구해 보고자 한다. 끝으로 본인 작품을 제시, 분석함으로써 작업에 대한 반성과 함께 앞으로의 방향 모색을 시도하였다.;Nowadays art exists in the state of Pluralism. There exists no leading style or form, in addition, no theological attitude of criticism. Pluralism does not indicate a specific art, as a kind of term, does basically adopt subjective interpretation on truth being selected from individual experience. In the state of view-putting a stress on very persona1 and subjective attitude, any question can be given, like how we can arouse artistic sympathy. For these questions I have an idea that personal things can be understood as common concern, and the imagination as open mind is a medium of this sympathy. Thus I aim to have a free-minded attitude in working, not being restricted to a specific trend mainly spreaded in the past. Also I intend to have multilateral trials dealing with various media and forms, in the expressions of will to freedom. First I have faced free feelings within the rain and the wind and then a Bachelard's viewpoint, freely staring at the given panorama through his imagination, so suggested me much possibility that developed my ideas. Its attributes would be well proved if we look at the flexibility of water and air as materials in these paintings, adding the power of imagination. This paper explains the personal thought and the motive to take it a point of work, the activity of expressions through imagination, and would offer references to active expressions and styles of screen univication by-similarity in the works of Gerhard Richter(1932∼ ), Robert Ryman(1930∼ ). This paper is consisted of the contents, the methods, and the analysis of my works. In the contents analysis, I would study application of imagination and activity in the expressions. In the methods analysis, the overlapping styles and the structural from of unification. Finally through examples and analysis of my works, I intended to find out the aims forward reflecting the works.
