自然-기하학적 空間 연구

Abstract

Artists are influenced regardless of time and place by the view of nature or value system of the society they belong to. And artists adopt a motive from their experiences, memories or the environment surrounding them, and thereby, express it with their own formative languages. In the free current of our contemporary art, the researcher attempted to explore her own forms rather than find certain formats, while researching into artists' such diverse experimentations and expressions. The researcher's works were the results from exploration of the stones in the nature, while borrowing the geometric structures of architecture shown in our modern civilization. Lastly, the researcher tried to express an emotional space with colors in spiritual terms. This study was motivated by a will to explore a canvas space focused on its forms; the researcher wanted to explore the works expressing picturesquely some geometric elements onto the space perceived by herself. This study consists of the following chapters; The first chapter introduces purpose and methods of the study. The second chapter comprises 3 sections. The first section is about approaches to stones. First of all, it reviews theoretically how a small nature is developed and expressed in the painting space. To this end, the researcher explored the origins of the materials used by herself only to find that stones are inherent in the immense nature. Upon analyzing the stone surfaces, the researcher attempted to deconstruct and reconstruct the stone surfaces to express the traditional views of nature with her own languages. The stones expressed by the researcher departed from the conceptual materialism to explore the stages whereby a formative space would be formed with new movement of space. Based on the stones expanded into the symbolic meaning or nature, the second section discusses how the architectural space has evolved in harmony with the geometric spaces of linear formative elements. In this vein, the researcher attempted to develop a constructive space by borrowing an architectural motive, while expressing a variety of spatial structures by using the perspective of moving views popular for the Oriental mountain and river paintings. The geometric planes derived from the architectural elements were converted into new spaces. The researcher tried to show a modern nature by expressing the stones on one of the planes of such a geometric space. To this end, the stone was assumed as a conceptual and traditional symbol of nature to be projected onto the spatial-geometry, namely the modernity we belong to, in an effort to present another nature or different space. The result may well be researcher's will for creation designed to harmonize geometric space and nature and integrate them. The geometric structure shown in the works was manipulated to be in accord and co-existence with nature to rediscover a modern landscape. The third section about expression of a sense of space with lights set a dramatic light to express a space approachable from multi-facets. Therewith, the researcher rendered the lights to present a view of forms to express the floating space in a more complex way. And the, the researcher expressed the shades generated from lights to be voluminous in order to present it as a space friendly to our modern men familiar with the Western forms. The third chapter titled 'Research into Color Uses' explores the colors more in-depth to suggest some theoretical ground for researcher's colors. To this end, the researcher explored the meanings of colors with an emotional approach to them before applying them to her works. Then, the researcher reviewed the methodological aspects of the stones expressed with colors and examined how the geometric spaces were expressed. Furthermore, the researcher reviewed the methods of expressing the volumes of space consisting of ink and colors. Through such production of works, this study suggested the nature rediscovered through its modernistic interpretation, and thereupon, put forwards the direction for researcher's future works about new spaces. Lastly, it is hoped that this study will provide for a stepping stone for the researcher's future creative activities.;어느 시대를 막론하고 예술가는 의식적이건 무의식적이건 간에 자신이 속해있는 사회의 자연관이나 가치관으로부터 영향을 받게 된다. 그리고 자신의 경험이나 기억 또는 자신을 둘러싼 환경에서 하나의 모티브를 취해 자신만의 조형언어로 그것을 표현하고자 한다. 현대미술의 자유로운 흐름 속에서, 본인은 이러한 예술가의 회화에 대한 다양한 실험태도와 표현방식을 어떤 특정한 양식을 구하기보다는 본인만의 주관적인 조형성 탐구를 하였다. 본인 작품은 소재에서는 자연에서 얻은 돌을 탐구하였고, 구도에서는 현대문명에서 보여지는 건축의 기하하적 구조를 차용하였다. 정신적인 측면에서는 색채를 통한 감성적인 공간을 나타내고자 하였다. 본 연구는 구조적 화면의 조형성을 중시한 화면 공간을 탐구하려는 의지에서 비롯되었으며, 기하학적 조형요소를 본인이 인식한 공간에 회화적으로 표현한 작품을 연구해 보고자 한다. Ⅰ장에서는 본인의 연구목적과 연구방법내용에 대하여 알아보고, Ⅱ장 1. 소재로서의 石에 관한 접근방법에서 이론적 연구를 토대로 하나의 작은 자연이 회화 공간으로 어떻게 발전되고 표현되었는지 보여주었다. 본인이 사용한 소재의 근간을 탐구하였으며, 돌이 광활한 자연을 내재하고 있음을 찾게 되었다. 실제 돌의 표면을 분석한 뒤, 해체와 재구성을 통해 묘사함으로써 자연에 대한 전통적 시각을 본인만의 언어로 표현하고자 하였다. 본인이 표현한 돌은, 관념적인 소재주의에서 탈피하여 새로운 공간의 움직임으로 하나의 조형적 공간을 형성하는 단계를 모색하였다. 이렇게 자연이라는 상징적인 의미로서 확대된 돌을 2. 건축적 공간을 통한 연구에서 직선적인 조형요소의 기하학적 공간과 어떻게 조화시켜 전개해 나갔는지 보여주고 있다. 건축적 모티브의 차용으로 보다 구축력있는 공간으로 발전시켰으며 산수화의 이동시점투시의 접근방식으로 공간의 다양한 구성을 나타내고자 하였다. 건축적 요소에서 얻은 기하학적인 면들은 새로운 공간의 생성이 이루어졌다. 이 기하학적 공간의 한 면에 돌을 표현함으로써 현대적 자연을 보여주려 하였다. 이러한 관심은 관념적이고 전통적인 자연의 상징으로 암석을 상정하였고, 이를 우리가 속한 현대라는 공간-기하학 속에 투영함으로써 또 다른 자연, 또 다른 공간-의 모습으로 제시하고자 한다. 이는 기하학적 공간과 자연을 어떻게 조화시키고 합일시키고자 하는 본인의 창작 의지를 보여주고 있다. 작품에서 보이는 기하학적 구도와 자연을 화합하고 공존시켜 현대적 풍경의 재발견을 나타냈다. 아울러 3. 빛에 의한 공간감 표현을 통해, 본인은 다각적으로 다가가는 공간을 표현하기 위하여 극적인 빛을 설정하였다. 이를 통해 본인이 설정한 빛의 연출로 공간의 유영(遊泳)을 좀 더 복합적으로 표현하는 조형적 시각을 제시하였다. 그리고 빛을 통하여 생성되는 명암은 입체감 있는 표현을 통하여 서구적 조형 시각에 익숙한 현대의 사람들에게 친밀한 공간으로 다가갔다. Ⅲ장 색채의 운용 연구에서는 색채에 대한 심층적인 연구를 통하여 본인이 사용한 색채를 확실하게 전달할 수 있는 이론적 근거를 제시하고자 하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 개별적 색채가 가지고 있는 의미를 찾아보고 감성적으로 접근을 시도하였고 작품에 적용하였다. 색채로 표현된 돌의 방법적 측면을 알아보고, 기하학적인 공간이 어떻게 표현되었는지 살펴보고자 한다. 그리고 묵과 색채로 이루어진 공간에 입체감을 표현하기 위한 방법에 대하여 연구해 보고자 한다. 이와 같은 작품 제작 과정을 근간으로, 본 논문에서는 현대적으로 해석한 자연의 재발견을 암시하였고, 새로운 공간 형성의 연구로 앞으로 본인의 작업이 나아갈 방향을 제시해주었다. 아울러 이 논고가 앞으로 본인의 창작활동에 더욱 발전적인 모색과정이 될 초석으로 삼고자 한다.
