dc.description.abstract | The twelve-tone technique created by Schonberg in the early 1920s has been developed by his followers, Anton Webem(1883∼1945) and Alban Berg(1885∼1935) and has become one of the most significant compositional techniques of the 20th century. "Four Pieces for Flute Solo" which was based on the twelve-tone technique, used the 48 sets of transposed prime, inversion, retrograde and retro-inversion, as well as planned rhythms and registers. The sets in each movement are devided into different segments and each segment has specific interval relations and motives that serve as decisive elements in horizontal connections, which developes through the work. In addition, the development of the traditional style appeared in this work through the use of dramatic dynamics, the wide leaps between the two adjecent tones, whole registers for the flute and frequent meter changes. | - |
