나비를 통한 자연의 순환적 이미지 표현연구

Abstract

세상의 모든 사물은 생성(生成)하고 시간의 흐름 속에서 자연스럽게 소멸(消滅)해간다. 자연의 섭리 안에 존재하는 인간은 아무리 첨단 과학 속에 살고 있다 하더라도 인간 자신이 자연의 일부이기 때문에 그 삶 역시 자연적 환경조건의 영향을 받으며 미의식 역시 이러한 환경의 영향을 받게 된다. 우리는 자연의 순환적 질서에 같이 호흡하고 동화적 관계를 나눈다. 또한 자연은 이러한 인간의 순환적인 삶과 깊은 관련을 맺고 있으며 인간 스스로의 존재를 확인하고 문화를 창조하는 모태이기도 하다. 자연 안에서 인간은 시간의 흐름에 따라 점차적으로 주위환경의 영향을 받고 성장하게 된다. 변화되는 과정 속에서 더 나은 인간의 모습을 찾으려 노력하며 발전하기 위해 각자 다양한 경험을 통해 성장해간다. 인간의 삶의 모습과 닮아 있다고 볼 수 있는 나비는 자연의 생물 중에 하나이며 아름다운 성충이 되기까지는 알에서 애벌레, 번데기의 힘든 과정을 인내해야만 한다. 또한 나비에서 볼 수 있는 아름다운 색채와 우아함은 우리에게 있어서 자연스럽게 다가갈 수 있는 소재이다. 따라서 본인의 작업에서는 자연을 토대로 인간의 순환적 삶을 나비의 이미지로 형상화하여 나비가 한살이 하는 과정을 반복함으로 인간의 생성, 성장, 소멸 과정을 은유적으로 표현하였다. 그리고 나비의 일생을 순환의 개념으로 나타내면서 자연의 순환적 이미지를 표현하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경은 문헌자료를 통해 동양철학에서의 순환사상과 순환의 개념, 과정을 연구하고 나비의 상징적 의미와 나비의 순환적 특징을 서술하였다. 또한 나비의 한살이 과정을 통해 자연순환적 이미지를 작품에 표현하였다. 작품 제작방법에서는 장지 2배접 위에 전체적으로 분채를 이용하여 알에서 부화된 유충이 성충이 되기까지의 순환적 생태과정과 완벽한 성충을 선묘로 표현하였다. 그리고 표현내용에서는 자연순환의 의미로서의 원을 이용하여 나비가 한살이 하는 모습을 반복하여 배열함으로 인간이 출생부터 성인이 되기까지의 인간의 성장과정을 표현함과 동시에 시간의 흐름에 따라 반복 순환되는 동양의 자연관을 담으려 하였다. 끊임없이 생성, 성장, 소멸을 반복하며 순환하는 자연의 모습을 나비의 이미지를 이용하여 표현하였다. 그 위에 성충이 된 나비를 원의 구조 속에서 형상화 시켜 인간의 삶을 은유적으로 작품화하였다. 전체적으로 작품에서는 배경색을 각각 주제에 맞게 선택하여 표현하였고 원의 표현에 있어서 상징적 의미를 부여하고 원의 구조를 이용해 다양한 공간을 표현하였다. 끝으로 본인이 제작한 작품을 분석해 봄으로써 지금까지 해온 작품에 대한 개념들에 대해 정리의 기회로 삼을 수 있었고 작품을 보다 다양하게 표현하고 노력하여 좀 더 발전된 작업방향으로 추구해 나가는데 의의를 가졌다.;All forms of life on earth generate and die out in nature with time. Even though human beings in this circle of nature are living with cutting-edge technology, it is undeniable that their lives are influenced by natural environments as part of nature, and an aesthetic concept also comes to be affected. We breathe and assimilate with nature in a circular order. Also, nature is a source for humans identifying themselves and producing culture with a strong tie to humans' circular life. Humans in nature come to grow in time as being influenced by surroundings. In the process of growing, they strive to achieve self improvement through various life experiences. A butterfly, which resembles human beings in this sense is one form of life in nature, and to be a beautiful adult butterfly it has to endure life's hard stages: from an egg, through a caterpillar to a pupa. A butterfly's beautiful colors and its gracefulness are subjects we can easily access. In this respect, my work expresses human beings' circular life of birth, growth and death based on nature, using the metaphor of a butterfly's image of a repetitive process of transformation. Furthermore, the purpose of this study includes expressing nature's circular image, employing the circular concept in a butterfly's life. As for a theoretical background, with reference to relevant literature, circular thoughts, concept, and process in oriental philosophy were studied, and then a symbolical meaning of a butterfly and the circular features were described. Furthermore, nature's circular image was expressed through the process of a butterfly's transformation. As for the method, on paper folded in two, the circular process of transformation from caterpillar to adult and the complete form of an adult butterfly were depicted by line drawing in color. For the content, as to the meaning of circular nature, a circle was used to reveal a butterfly's repetitive arrangement of transformation in order to convey the process of growth in humans' life from birth to being an adult, and at the same time to try to reveal the repetitive, circular image of the oriental viewpoint of nature. Endless, repetitive images of nature in generating, growing and dying out were expressed, employing the image of a butterfly. In addition, by placing an adult butterfly in the circular structure, humans' life was metaphorically expressed. Background colors were selected to comply with each theme, and a symbolical meaning was attributed to a circle; also the circular structure was used to express various spaces. Analyzing my work gave an opportunity to look at the concepts in previous work more carefully, and therefore, in the direction followed in the future, there will be enhanced expressive work.
