초등과학영재의 선발성적과 실제수행능력과의 상관관계 분석

Abstract

To provide gifted children with an appropriate education, the subjects of gifted children's education have been selected , and various studies have been conducted to reduce the selection errors. The present study is intended to analyze the selection scores obtained with a tool of making observation and recommendation in gifted children's science class as implemented in earnest since 2011 and actual execution ability in class programs for the gifted children in terms of science exploration ability, creativity, and leadership per field and element, and to examine relationships between the selection score and the actual execution ability. The objectives are to verify whether an appropriate education has been implemented for the subjects of gifted children's education through the analysis and also to offer suggestions for a direction in selection and educating the gifted children by providing data on elements to place an emphasis on in the process of selection and education for the gifted children. For the subjects of 20 finalist students selected for the Y science class of gifted children located in Seoul, correlations between their selection scores and execution abilities have been analyzed, and interviews conducted with students exhibiting peculiar characteristics. The collected data were subjected to an analysis i-statistics program by Eva L. Baker according to study topics. The analysis result of the present study may be summarized as follows. First, according to an analysis of the selection scores per field of exploration ability, leadership and creativity, the mean value was highest for leadership, followed by science exploration ability, and creativity. Correlations between fields were not high, but correlations selection total score and fields were high. As the selection scores were analyzed per element, Among exploration ability elements, it was highest for problem recognition and lowest for classification. The data interpretation had high correlations with conclusion derivation, generalization whereas exploration ability had high correlations with deduction. As for the elements for creativity, fluency was highest, but low relative to other fields. The sensitivity had high correlations with data interpretation, conclusion derivation, generalization whereas flexibility had high correlations with data interpretation, conclusion derivation, generalization. Selection creativity score had high correlations with sensitivity, flexibility. It was revealed that the mean value was highest for vision within the leadership field, and lowest for problem solving ability. Selection leadership score had high correlations with leadership elements. Secondly, as the execution scores are reviewed per exploration ability, leadership, and creativity, the mean value was in the order of exploration ability, creativity, and leadership. Also the execution total score showed relatively high correlations with exploration ability. As the execution scores were analyzed per element, Among exploration ability elements, it was highest for data interpretation, observation and conclusion derivation but lowest for hypothesis setting. The observation, hypothesis setting had high correlations with other exploration ability elements whereas exploration ability had high correlations with classification. Also the exploration ability showed relatively high correlations with other exploration ability. As for the elements for creativity, it was highest for sensitivity and lowest for flexibility. Also the exploration ability showed relatively high correlations with other exploration ability. Execution creativity score had high correlations with creativity elements, whereas execution creativity had high correlations with flexibility and elaboration. Also flexibility had correlations with other creativity elements. Among elements for the leadership, problem solving ability was highest while execution sense of task responsibility was somewhat low. There was the correlations among leadership elements, execution leadership had high correlations with leadership elements. Especially execution leadership score had high correlations with problem solving ability, sense of task responsibility and the self management. Thirdly, In terms of correlations per fields between selection scores and execution scores, no fields showed a high correlation. In terms of correlations per exploration element between selection scores and execution scores, selection data conversion and execution data conversion had a correlation. As the selection and execution scores were analyzed per element, Among creativity elements, no element showed a high correlation. There were high correlations in the sense of task responsibility between selection scores and execution. No element showed a high correlation without the sense of task responsibility. The selection leadership elements had no correlations with execution leadership.;본 연구는 2011년부터 본격적으로 시행되고 있는 과학영재학급 관찰․추천 선발 전형에서의 선발성적과 영재학급 프로그램에서의 실제수행능력을 과학탐구능력, 창의성, 리더십의 영역과 요소별로 분석한 다음, 선발성적과 실제수행능력과의 상관관계를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울시에 위치하고 있는 Y과학영재학급에 최종 선발된 20명의 학생들을 대상으로 그들의 선발성적과 실제수행능력간의 상관관계를 분석하였으며, 특이점을 보이는 학생들과는 면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 자료는 i-statistics 프로그램을 사용하여 연구문제에 따라 처리하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 과학탐구능력, 창의성, 리더십의 영역과 하위 요소별로 선발성적의 수준과 특징을 분석한 결과, 영역별 평균 점수는 리더십, 과학탐구능력, 창의성 순으로 나타났으며 영역간의 상관관계는 높지 않았으나, 총 선발성적은 과학탐구능력, 창의성, 리더십과 높은 상관성을 보였다. 과학탐구능력의 하위 요소에서 평균 점수는 문제인식이 가장 높았고 분류는 가장 낮았으며, 자료해석은 결론도출, 일반화와 밀접한 관련성을 보였다. 또한 과학탐구능력의 선발성적은 하위 요소 중 추리와만 상관성을 나타냈다. 창의성 영역의 하위 요소에서 평균 점수는 유창성이 가장 높았으나 다른 영역의 하위 요소에 비해서는 낮은 점수였다. 민감성은 유의미한 수준에서 자료해석, 결론도출, 일반화와 매우 높은 상관관계를 보였고, 융통성도 자료해석, 결론도출, 일반화와 높은 상관관계를 나타냈다. 창의성의 선발성적은 민감성, 융통성이 가장 잘 설명해 주고 있었다. 리더십 영역의 하위 요소에서 평균 점수는 비전이 가장 높았고 문제해결력이 가장 낮았으며 자신감-도전정신과 과제책임감은 높은 상관성을 보였다. 특히 리더십의 선발성적은 리더십의 하위 요소 모두가 대체로 잘 설명해 주고 있었다. 둘째, 과학탐구능력, 창의성, 리더십의 영역과 하위 요소별로 실제수행능력의 수준과 특징을 분석한 결과, 영역별 평균 점수는 과학탐구능력, 창의성, 리더십 순이었고, 세 영역 모두 총 수행능력과 밀접한 관련성을 보였다. 특히 총 수행능력은 과학탐구능력과 가장 높은 상관성을 보였다. 과학탐구능력의 하위 요소에서 평균 점수는 자료해석, 관찰, 결론도출의 평균 점수가 높았으며 가설 설정이 다소 낮았다. 관찰과 가설설정은 많은 과학탐구능력의 하위 요소와 상관성을 보였으며, 과학탐구능력의 수행능력은 분류가 가장 잘 설명하고 있었으나 다른 하위 요소와도 상관성이 높았다. 창의성의 하위 요소에서 민감성은 평균 점수가 높았으며 융통성은 다소 낮았다. 창의성의 각 하위 요소는 창의성의 수행능력과 대체로 상관성이 있었으며, 특히 창의성의 수행능력은 융통성, 정교성과 높은 상관성을 보였다. 또한 융통성은 창의성의 다른 하위 요소들과도 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 리더십의 하위 요소에서 평균 점수는 문제해결력이 높은 성적을 보였고, 과제책임감이 낮은 점수였다. 하위 요소 간에는 대부분 유의미한 상관성이 있었으며, 리더십의 수행능력은 각 하위 요소와도 밀접한 관련성을 보였다. 특히 문제해결력과 과제 책임감, 자기 관리의 요소는 리더십의 수행능력을 잘 설명해 주었다. 셋째, 선발성적과 실제수행능력의 영역 간에는 유의수준 내에서 상관관계를 보이지 않았다. 과학탐구능력 하위 요소 중 선발성적과 실제수행능력 간 상관관계를 보이는 요소는 자료변환으로 선발 자료변환과 실제수행 자료변환은 서로 어느 정도 상관관계가 있었다. 창의성의 하위 요소들의 선발성적과 실제수행능력 간에는 유의미한 상관이 없어 선발성적으로 창의성의 실제수행능력을 예측하기 힘들다는 것을 보여주었다. 리더십의 선발성적과 실제수행능력 중 리더십 하위 요소인 과제책임감은 밀접한 관련이 있었으나 실제수행 과제책임감을 제외한 요소들은 리더십의 선발성적과 유의미한 상관을 보이지 않았다. 또한 선발 시 리더십의 하위 요소들로는 리더십의 실제수행능력을 예측하기 힘들었다. 앞으로의 연구에서는 영재 개인의 특성을 고려하여 선발성적과 실제수행능력과의 차이를 사례 분석해 보고, 영재 학생의 선발 과정에서의 선발성적과 재 선발 과정에서의 성적이 어떠한 관련성이 있는가를 살펴봄으로써 영재 프로그램의 총체적인 평가인 동시에 앞으로의 운영방향에 대한 기초자료가 될 것이다.
