청각장애아와 정상아의 동사시제 사용에 대한 비교연구

Abstract

본 연구는 청각장애아와 정상아의 구어에 있어서 동사 시제 사용에 관하여 알아보므로서 청각장애아의 조기 언어교육 프로그램을 계획하고 실제 언어를 지도하는데 도움이 되고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상으로는 청각장애아 집단과 정상아 MLU집단 그리고 정상아 연령집단에서 각각 16명씩 표집하였다. 정상아 MLU집단은 청각장애아 집단과 발화 길이 (Mean Length of Utterances in Morphemes)가 같은 집단이었고 정상아 연령집단은 청각장애아 집단과 연령이 같은 집단이었다. 검사도구는 동작을 나타내는 그림카드 20장으로, 10종류의 동사가 각각 과거와 미래를 나타내도록 두 번씩 그려져 있다. 동사 하나에 대한 그림카드 2장을 그림의 상황설명과 함께 나란히 제시하였다. 그림에 대한 아동의 반응은 녹음하여 전사했으며 미래와 과거시제의 사용을 각각 채점하였다. 결과의 검증에 사용된 통계적 방법은 t검증이었다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애아들은 정상아들과 언어발달이 같은 단계에 있을 때 과거시제의 사용점수가 유의하게 높았다. 둘째, 청각장애아들은 정상아들과 언어발달이 같은 단계에 있을 때 미래시제의 사용점수에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 셋째, 청각장애아들은 정상아들과 연령이 같을 때 과거시제 사용점수에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 넷째, 청각장애아들은 정상아들과 연령이 같을 때 미래시제 사용점수가 유의하게 낮았다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과를 종합하면 청각장애아들은 언어발달이 같은 단계에 있는 정상아들과 비슷한 수준으로 미래시제를 사용하고 있으며 연령이 같은 정상아들과 비슷한 정도로 과거시제를 사용하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 앞서 열거한 결과들은 청각장애아들이 언어발달이 같은 단계에 있는 정상아들보다 연령이 많으므로 연령에 따른 경험이 폭이 넓었다는 것과 2년 내지 3년간에 걸친 교육을 통해 언어경험의 양이 많았기 때문에 생긴 것으로 해석된다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 청각장애아의 조기 언어교육 프로그램의 중요성을 시사해준다.;The purpose of this study is to examine verb tense of Hearing Impaired children and Normal hearing children in oral language. Based upon findings of the study, it is to furnish practical materials for efficient language teaching and programming early language intervention program for hearing impaired children. Subjects were selected 16 from three groups respectively, hearing impaired, normal hearing-MLU, normal hearing-age group. Hearing impaired group was matched with normal hearing MLU group on the basis of mean length of utterances in morpheme, the index of general linguistic development. And hearing impaired group was matched with normal hearing-age group on the basis of chronological age. Testing material was 20 colored pictures of motion. 10 verbs were used twice respectively for depicting past and future tense. 2 pictures depicting past and future of a verb were pre-sented at a time with explanation of the situation. Oral expressions which were elicited by each subjects from 20 pictures were recorded at a tape recorder and were transcribed. And only verbs used were scored. The statistic of Student-t was used to test the hypotheses of the present study. The results were as follows. 1. There was a significant difference in past tense score between hearing impaired group. and normal hearing group, matched by MLU. The score of hearing impaired group was significantly higher than that of normal hearing group. 2. 'There was not a significant difference in future tense score between hearing impaired group and hearing group, matched by MLU. 3. There was not a significant difference in past tense score between hearing impaired group and normal hearing group, matched by CA. 4. There was a significant difference in future tense score between hearing impaired group and normal hearing group, matched by GA. The score of hearing impaired group was significantly lower than that of normal hearing group. In Summary, we can say that hearing impaired children express past tense at the same degree of same aged normal hearing children. And they express future tense at the same degree of normal hearing children in same level of language development. We can think these findings resulted from the follows. Hearing impaired children were generally older than normal hearing children matched by MLU. So the experience of hearing impaired children were more comprehensive than that of normal hearing children. And through the two or three years' education, hearing impaired children had a wide language experience than normal hearing children. Thus the implication of the results is the necessity of early language intervention program for the hearing impaired children.
