中ㆍ高等學生의 市民性形成에 關한 硏究

Abstract

"The soical studies", it has been closely connected with "The citizenship education" since the purpose of that is the development of desirable citizenship disposition and it's educational contents is about the relation between human and society. This thesis proposed to grope for the plan of social study education which can be the best contributed to build up the citizenship disposition and also grasp the problem about the formation of citizenship of middle and high school students in Seoul through it's investigation. The theoretical background for this study was based on the study of the citizenship, the citizenship education, the significance of the citizenship education. As the instrument of actual proof investigation, the content of citizenship education which is emphasized in the field of social study education was analyzed into 10 characteristic points. That is, the concrete items representing the citizenship are summarized as follows; 1. Defense of human rights. 2. Cooperation and service for public advantage. 3. Identical liberty and respansibility senses. 4. Law-abiding spirit. 5. Cantinuous self-development. 6. Problematic senses to actual life and endeavour to solve it. 7. Economic senses. 8. Voluntary participation to self-government. 9. National senses. 10. International concern. With reference to these 10 items, it has been studied and analyzed the degree of citizenship formation middle and high school students. From the analysis, it was found that the citizenship was formed to some extent. On the one hand, "By-products" produced such as fhippant materialism, selfishness, human alienation and the canflict of one's sense of values in the direction of a nature citizen society. On the other hand, it represented that the citizenship education for middle and high school students wasn't successful It must be a measure of social development the education that made the students good citizens. Though the above performance could be done at the outside of schools, it should be take into account that the basic purpose of social studies is the dispositional development of democratic citizen. In conclusion, with attention centered on social study education, the problems of citizenship education were described and it's desirable direction was suggested;社會科는 바람직한 市民的 資質 育成을 目標로 하며, 人間과 社會의 關係를 주된 교육내용으로 하기 때문에 市民性敎育 (Citizenship Education) 과 직접적인 관계를 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 本 論文은 中·高等學生들의 市民性 形成에 관한 調査를 통해 그問題點을 파악하고 社會科 敎育이 학생들의 市民的 자질함양에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 摸索하는 데 目的을 두었다. 본 연구를 위한 이론적 배경으로 市民性과 市民敎育, 市民敎育의 意義, 우리나라의 社會科와 市民敎育, 市民敎育의 內容을 고찰하였다. 실증적 조사 도구로서는 社會科 敎育에서 강조하는 市民性 敎育內容을 10가지의 성격으로 究明하여 조사하였다. 즉, 市民性을 가리키는 구체적인 항목으로는 여러 학자들의 이론을 종합하여 (1)인권존중, (2)공익을 위한 협동과 봉사, (3)주체적 자유·책임의식, (4)준법정신, (5)끊임없는 자신의 계발, (6)실제생활의 문제의식과 문제해결 노력, (7)경제의식, (8) 자치생활에의 능동적 참여의식, (9)국가의식, (10)국제적 관심을 선정하였으며, 이 10가지 항목에 대하여 中·高等學生들의 市民性 形成 程度를 調査·分析하였다. 분석결과, 中·高等學生들은 어느 정도 市民性이 形成되어 있다고 볼 수 있으나, 성숙한 市民社會를 향하여 정진해 가는 과정에서 나타나는 부산물들, 예컨대 경박한 物質主義, 利己主義, 인간적 소외, 가치관의 갈등등의 성향도 다분히 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그것은 일면, 中·高等學生들에 대한 市民性 敎育이 제대로 되지 못하고 있다는 意味를 함축하고 있다고도 할 수 있을것이다. 市民性을 形成해 가는 과정에 있는 中·高等學生에게 훌륭한 市民이 되도록 敎育하는 것은 한 사회발전의 원동력이 된다. 시민성 교육은 비단 學校에서 뿐만이 아니라 학교이외에 여러 곳에서도 행해질 수 있겠으나, 本 연구에서는 社會科의 기본 目標가 民主市民의 자질함양이라는 점에 역점을 두고 있음에 감안하여, 주로 社會科 敎育을 중심으로하여 市民性 敎育의 問題點을 서술하고, 결론으로 그 바람직한 方向을 제시하였다.
