G. Mahler의 가곡 "젊은날의 노래"에 관한 소고

Abstract

독일 가곡을 후기 낭만기의 절정에 놓이게 한 Gustav Mahler(1860~1911)는 19c 후기 낭만파 음악가의 한 사람으로 Neo Romanticism과 Neo Classicism의 보수성과 진보성을 동시에 가졌던 작곡가이다. 그는 Beethoven이후 처음으로 교향곡에 독창이나 합창곡이 포함된 성악곡을 삽입하였으며 그 소재를 시나 노래의 주제에서 가져옴으로써 이상적 교향곡의 형태를 추구하였다. 그의 성악곡에 쓰인 가사는 낭만적인 시와 민속적인 것, 그리고 자작시로 되어 있으며 그의 성악곡은 근대 음악 사상 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. Mahler의 가곡으로는 〈젊은날의 노래(Lieder und Gesa¨nge aus der Jugendzeit)〉, 〈방랑하는 젊은이의 노래(Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen)〉, 〈어린이의 이상한 뿔피리(Des Knaben Wunderhorn)〉, 〈죽은 아이를 그리는 노래(Kinder totenlieder)〉, 〈뤼케르트의 시에 의한 다섯개의 노래(5 Lieder nach Ru¨ckert)〉등의 연가곡집과 그의 만년 작품인 〈Revelge〉, 〈Der Tambourg' Sell〉두 곡이 있다. 본 논문에서는 초기 작품인〈젊은날의 노래〉를 중심으로 Mahler 가곡의 음악적 구조와 스타일을 연구하였다. 연구 방법으로는〈젊은날의 노래〉의 14곡에 대한 선율구조와 리듬, 그리고 화성요소를 분석하여 각 곡의 특징과 전체에 대한 특징을 살펴 보았다. 분석 결과〈젊은날의 노래〉는 전주가 없거나 짧은 곡이 대부분 이라는 것이 특징으로 나타났으며, 가장 긴 전주는 5마디였다. 14곡중 박자가 변하는 곡은 2곡이며, 조성이 변화하는 곡은 12곡이었다. 조성변화는 3도, 4도 관계변화가 많았으며 한 마디안에서도 장, 단 조로 변화하는 곡도 있었다. 선율은 대부분 arch형이었고, 못갖춘 마디로 시작하였다. 갖춘마디로 시작하는 곡은 불과 3곡 뿐이었다 화음은 Ⅰ, V화음을 지속적으로 사용하였으며, 2부형식에 통절로 된 곡들이 많았다. 그는 철학적이고 지적이며 내면적인 것을 추구한 작곡가였고 그의 가곡은 섬세하면서도 깊은 표현력을 요구하고 있다.;Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), a man of the later romantic musician, contributed the German lied to the top of the later romantic period. As he was a composer in the transitional period between Neoromanticism and Neoclassicism, we can find that conservative and progressive elements are combined in the songs of Gustav Mahler. He tried to insert solo or chorus in the symponies after Beethoven and his subject matters were from the themes of the form of ideal sympony. His words of vocal music can be divided in three parts as follows; romantic words, folk-way ones, and his own compositions. They are regarded as important songs in the modern music history. Mahler's lieds are "Lieder und Gesange aus der Jungendzeit", "Lieder eines Fareden Gesellen", "Des Knaben Wunderhorn, "Kindertoten Lieder". "5 Lieder nach Ruckert." Two works of his later life are "Revelge', "Der Tambourg' Sell". My attempts on this thesis are to study the musical forms and styles of Mahler's lieds through his early song,"Lieder und Gesa¨nge aus der Jungendzeit," This study is analyzed the rhythmic patterns and the harmonic structure through 14 songs of "Lieder und Gesa¨nge aus der Jungendzeit," and then the Characterstics of each song and the whole song.
