국민학교 텔리비젼 리터러시(Television literacy)에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 미디어 교육의 일환인 TV리터러시(TV Literacy) 교육을 학교 교과과정내에 도입시키는 문제를 의견조사를 통해서 검토하고 이를 토대로 하여 실제 교육 현장에서 실시할 수 있는 TV리터러시 교육의 근거를 마련하는데 있다. 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. TV가 아동에게 미치는 영향에 대한 국민학교 교사들의 의견은 어떠한가? 2. TV리터러시 교육을 교과과정에 통합시키는 데 대한 교사들의 의견은 어떠한가? 본 조사연구의 대상으로는 서울시에 있는 7개 국민학교의 210명의 교사가 선정되었다. 표집은 우선 층별 임의 표집에 의해 7개 교육구청에서 1학교씩을 각각 임의로 선발하였고, 선발된 7개 학교에서 각각 30명씩의 교사에게 질문지가 배부되었고, 이중 173부의 질문지가 회수되었다. 조사 연구의 결과에 의하면 우리나라 국민학교 교사들은 TV리터러시에 관하여 다음과 같은 의견을 갖고 있었다. 1. 교사들은 TV가 아동에게 미치는 영향을 긍정적·부정적 차원에서 상당히 큰 것으로 간주하고 있었으며, 이에 따라 아동의 비판적인 시청을 위한 교사의 지도가 필요하다고 느끼고 있었다. 2. 교사들은 TV리터러시 교육을 기존 교과과목 중, 도덕 시간에 다루는 것이 적합하다고 생각하고 있었으며, 교육실시는 필요한 경우 수시로 실시하되 교사와 학생의 대화 및 토론을 통해 이루어져야 한다고 느끼고 있었다. 3. 또한 교사들은 TV리터러시 교육은 인지적인 면보다는 아동의 정서발달, 흥미, 태도와 관련된 정의적 교육 영역을 중심으로 실시하는 것이 바람직하다고 생각하고 있었다. 이상과 같은 교사의 TV리터러시 교육관을 토대로 하여 우리나라 교육현장에 적용될 수 있는 TV리터러시 교육에 관한 교안을 마련하였다.;The purpose of this study is to investigate the problem of integrating television literacy into the school curriculum and, through this research, to provide the base of the curriculum of television literacy which can be applied to the classroom. The following problems are studied in this research. 1. What is the teachers' opinion about the TV's effects on children? 2. What is the teachers' opinion about integrating TV literacy into the school curriculum? The subject of this study was 210 elementary teachers. Seven schools were stratificially random-selected from seven district offices of education in Seoul and 30 teachers in each school were drawn. 210 questionnaires were distributed and 173 questionnaires were returned. Finding were as follows : 1. Teachers indicated that TV had a large effect on children in terms of its positive and negative aspects. Therefore, the mediation of teachers is needed for children's critical TV viewing. 2. Teachers indicated that it is appropriate to integrate TV literacy within the existing subjects, especially the moral education. Its courses tan be practised whenever necessary and its method is the dialogue and discussion between teacher and students. 3. Teachers indicated that it is desirable to develop the objectives of TV literacy with regard to the affective domain which is related to the children's emotions, interests, attitudes and the like. Based on this research, an examplar syllabus of TV literacy curriculum which can be applied to our referent situation in school was presented.
