학교음악교육에 있어서의 대중음악의 도입문제

Abstract

매스컴을 통한 대중문화의 급격한 발달은, 문화전달의 기능을 가지고 있는 학교교육의 보수적 기능과 갈등을 일으키고 있다. 학교는 대중문화에 노출되어 있는 학생들의 흥미와 욕구에 무관심한 채, 기성세대의 가치관을 강요해왔다고 할 수 있다. 특히 대중음악의 범람은 학생들로 하여금 학교 음악교육에 흥미를 잃게 함으로써 학교교육의 기능을 약화시키고 있는데, 이러한 문제는 단지 주어진 현상의 회피만으로 해결될 수는 없을 것이다. 왜냐하면 학교 음악교육의 기능이 약화된 것은, 교사의 음악문화와 학생의 음악문화, 넓게는 예술음악과 대중음악의 차이점에 기인한 것이라 할 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 음악교사가 가르쳐야 할 교과내용과 학생들의 욕구 사이에 합일점을 찾음으로써 새로운 음악교육의 방향을 찾는 것이 음악교육의 중요한 과제라 할 수 있겠다. 이러한 음악교육의 문제에 대한 하나의 해결방안으로써, 본 연구는 대중음악을 학교 음악교육에 선별적으로 도입해야 한다는 입장을 제시하였으며 그 정당성을 다음과 같은 측면에서 고찰하였다. 첫째, 대중문화에 대한 긍정론이다. 대중사회속에서 대중이 호흡하는 가장 중심적인 문화로써 대중문화를 받아 들여야 한다는 현실론을 제기하였으며, 문화적 민주주의라는 관점에서 대중음악을 수용하는 입장을 취하였다. 둘째, 음악교육에 있어서 특정양식 하나만을 고집하는 것으로부터 탈피하여 음악양식의 다원성을 포괄적으로 이해하고자 하는 측면이다. 이것을 포괄적 음악교육 이론이라 하는데, 음악교과과정에는 대중음악 전위음악, 민속음악, 타문화권의 음악 등 모든 시대, 모든 양식의 음악이 포함되어야 한다는 것을 기초로 하는 이론이다. 셋째, Bruner의 이론을 음악교육에 적용한 예로써 MMCP의 교육이론을 제시하였다. 이 프로그램은 학생들이 음악을 지식으로써 먼저 해석하지 않고, 음악행위를 통해 감지하게 하는 것이다. 네째, 대중음악에 대한 교사의 태도는 무조건적인 비판보다 개방적이고 긍정적이어야 한다는 논리이다. 또한 수업에 대중음악을 도입할 때에는 학생들의 욕구를 만족시키는 데 그칠 것이 아니라, 음악적 개념에 대한 학습이 반드시 이루어질 수 있도록 해야한다는 것을 강조하였다. 이상에서 살펴본 바에 입각하여, 학교 음악교육은 예술음악에만 국한되지 않는 다양하고 폭넓은 음악을 다루어야 하며 특히 학생들의 음악문화를 긍정적으로 수용하는 자세를 가지고, 청소년기의 발달과정에 맞는 적절한 지도방안을 모색해야한다는 것을 본 연구의 결론으로 하였다. 덧붙여, 교육현장에서 실제적으로 대중음악을 가르칠 수 있도록 본 연구자가 작성한 학습지도안을 제시하였다.;As the popular culture has been developed rapidly, it conflicts with the conservative school education. We teachers have disregared the real needs and interests of the students who are exposed to the popular culture and forced them to have the old generation's view of value. On account of overflow of popular music, the students lost their interests about school music lesson. It makes the role of school music education weak and lethargy. The weakened school education is caused by the conflicts of teacher's music and the student's and those of classical music and popular music so we music teachers must find new methodology which can satisfy both of the given curriculum to teach and the interests of students. In this study, I proposed a plan as a new methodology, that permits the adaption of popular music to the school lesson. The reasons are: First, the affirmation of popular culture. It helps to adapt the popular music to school lesson. Second, the variety of music style. It means the Comprehensive Music Education theory we need to. Third, as the methodology of Comprehensive Music Education theory I introduced the Concept-Centered learning theory of Bruner. According to this theory, we can learn the character of music by many kinds of music activity. Fourth, I proposed the theory of MMCP. It is the abstract method applying the learning theory of Bruner Fifth, the affifmation of popular music. We can teach many concepts of music through popular music. The conclusion of this study is to admit student's popular music culture to school education with affirmative view point and to find the proper method understanding their interests. I added some sub-plans to apply the popular music to the music lesson.
