- Through survey of perception by middle school boy and girl students of the home economics subject matters, by the girl students of the current middle school education in home economics, and by both the boy and girl students of coeducation of home economics in the future, the study aims at a definition of the might perception of home economics education for both the boy and girl students and attempt to develop a program of home economics subject matters for coeducation in the future.
The questionaire, instrument of this investigation, was prepared to cover three areas with classified questions gaved on preliminary studies and on the researches of reference literatures. Upon complition of pre-test, revision and supplementation, the questionaire was adopted for use.
A total of 840 students of both sexes were sampled at random for this study, 140 middle school seniors of a sex each in Seoul, Taejon and Kunsan areas. 600 copies of retrived questionaire were available for the final analysis. The rate of sampling response was approximately 71.4 percent. The frequency and the percentage were computed, for statistic purpose. The Chi-square method and F-test were employed for differences.
Summary of The Results :
1. The mean values found to determine the students perception of the subject matters of the home economics marked the family life subject matter the highest and next the femimine subject matters, followed by the entrance examination subject matters, hobby subject matters, and vocational subject matters, in that order. In terms of contents the of contents the perception showed the highest as a feminine discipline. Male students tended stronger to perceive the home economics as feminine subject matters than female students.
2. When asked if the knowledge and skills needed for family life was learned at school, "learned knowledge only" was the highest response (57.5%), and "obtained neither knowledge and skills" was the response made by more (19.7%), make students than female students (7.0% , p< .001)
3. The highest percentage of respondents (57.7%) was for completion of home economics is mandatory for a female student" The smaller a community was the more responded favorably. (P < . 05)
4. 51.3 percent of the female respondents showed their dissatisfaction with the home economics disciplines currently taught at school. (P < .05) They were dissatisfied because presentation of home economics was predominantly theory oriented. (76.3%)
5. 93.7 percent of the respondents gave affirmative responses for future conduct of home economics classes. The ratis of female students was higher than male. (P < .001) The reason for an affirmative was to lead a happier future family life. (53 6%) On the other hand the reluctance and the part male students willing & learn home economics was highly due to the traditional idea of the sex inherent roles in family relationship.
6. A higher percentage indicated that education of human for harmonious family relationship was desirable as learning content of home economics. Students of both sexes showed little difference in this opinion.
7. There were two groups of respondents :
One group perceived "home economics as a subject should be learned" and "students of both sexes should learn". the other group perceived "home economics as a subject ranging from not necessary to required only by female students." The former tended to perceive home economics as family life education; the latter tended to perceive it as education for female coeds.;本 硏究의 目的은 男女 中學生의 家政科 敎科에 對한 認識, 女中生의 現行 家政科 敎科의 履修에 對한 認識,그리고 男女 中擧生의 앞으로의 家政科 敎科의 男女 共通履修에 對한 認識 등의 內容을 究明함으로써, 男女學生이 家政科 敎科에 對하여 올바른 認識을 갖고 앞으로 家政科 敎科를 男女 共通履修하도록 하는 方案을 模索하는데 있다.
本 硏究의 調査道具인 設問紙는 文獻 및 관련된 先行硏究를 토대로 問項을 3개 領域으로 分類하여 作成한 후 豫備調査를 거쳐 修正 · 補完하여 使用하였다.
諦査對象으로는 서울·大田 · 群山 3개地域의 中學校 3學年 男女學生 가가기 140名씩 총 840名을 임의로 추출하였다. 最終資料分析에 使用된 設問紙는 600部로 回收率은 71.4%였으며 통계처리는 빈도와 백분율을 算出하고, 변인별 差異는 x^(2)검증과 F-test를 하였다.
本의 硏究의 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다.
1. 家政科 敎科에 對한 認識의 平均點數는 家庭生?敎科가 가장 높았고 그 다음은 女性敎科, 그리고 人試敎科, 趣味敎科, 職業敎科의 順이었다. 한편 「女性敎科」라는 반응은 學習內容에서 가장 높게 나라났으며 家政科 敎科를 女性.敎科로 認識하는 傾向은 男學生이 女學生보다 높았다. (P<.01)
2. 家庭生活에 必要한 知識이나 技術을 學校로부터 習得했는가의 여부에 대하여는 「知識만 익혔다」가 가장 높았고(57.5%), 「知識과 技術 모두를 익히지 못했다」는 男擧生(19.7%)이 女學生 (7.0%)보다 높게 나타났다. (P<.00l)
3. 女擧生으로서 家政科 敎科의 履修에 對하여 반드시 必要하다(57.7%)가 가장 높았으며 地域에 따라서는 小都市일수록 높게 나타났다(P<.05)
4. 現行 家政科 敎科內容에 對하여 女轝生의 51.3%가 만족치 않다고 하였으며 地域別로는 大都市일수록 높았고(p<.05) 그 理由는 理論만에 치중되어 있기 때문인 것으로 나타났다.(71.6%)
5. 앞으로 家政科 敎科를 履修하는 것에 對하여 全體 調査對象者中 93.7%가 긍정적인 반응을 보였다.(p<.001) 그 理由는 행복한 가정생활을 영위하기 위해서로 나타났다.(53.6%)
한편 男擧生이 家政科 敎料를 履修하기에 어려운 점으로는 男女役割에 對한 隣定觀念이 가장 높게 나타났다.(44.7%)
6. 家政科 敎科의 男女 共通履修時 배우고 싶은 內容으로는 「화목한 家庭形成을 위한 人間敎育」이 가장 높았으며 性別로도 거의 差異가 없었다.
7. 「家政科 敎科는 꼭 배워야 된다」 그리고 「家政科 敎科를 배워야 할 對象은 男女 모두다」로 認識하는 集團일수록 家政科 敎科를 家庭生活敎科로 認識하는 率이 높았다. 반면에 「家政科 敎科는 배울 必要가 없다」 그리고 「家政科 敎科를 배워야 할 對象은 女學生 만이다」고 認識하는 集團에서는 家政科 敎科를 女性敎科로 認識하는 率이 특히 높았다.
