섬유예술의 거실공간 활용에 관한 연구

Abstract

The Fabric Art which developed a field of the Formative Arts was limited to the decorative and practical use only without conserving any aestheric consciousness in its rage of use during the past. Recently, however it has established its own new concept of value into a specific field of the formative arts as medium to express the character and the beauty consciousness of the artists since the fiber, began to be used as a material of the Fabric Art, a new form of arts. Futhermore, with the rapid growth of the current civilization and change of social environment, today's fine arts have been enlarging their grounds into more positive formative world, emerging from the indulgment in such fixed concept as painting, sculpture and architecture by the inovation of arts galleries together with the pursiut of the arts' autonomy. Accordingly, the fiber, closely related to our daily life, and confined to the practical and formal utilization by the conventional patterns and limitations passed down from the past, has been developed in line with the trend of the times. That is, it proves to be art of a new expressive medium developed by the extension of expressive ability and material selection. The new style of arts, known as fabric art, has emerged very recently. In these days, the of this field has been remarkably improved and it is recognized for its independent position as prominent pattern or style in the modern fine arts. The fabric art is a work to be conceived and made by an artist who, with originality and expressive potentiality, harmonize the genuine characteristics of design personal skill or technique and selected materials well in overall aspects, and is characterized as having combined factors to deal with colors and materials effectively with technical research and experimental spirit. Also, the recent diversification of the fabric art commonly possess the related tendency with the diversification of other visual arts, and stimulates a new concept for the overall arts of the 20th century. In this study on the field of fabric art, with its reduced scale I have tried to examine the sofa, carpet, curtain, wall paper and tapestry, cushion, the factors to be composed for the space by the fabric artists who play a great role as room designers with an attempt to decorate the space more beautifully, and discuss on them in connection of their technical effects with those visual effects on the human being. To attempt to create a delightful and comfortable living environment, the human desire, is a always inseparably related to our practical problem matters along with the growth of our civilization. The room space decoration is a harmony-required work to be done under the close corrdination and cooperation between the architects and the room disegners in the concrets and visual design work. In this work, a fabric artist may participate as room designer and attempt to make diversified works in the limited building space based on the basic design rules. This study is made with an intention to design living room so, that it may provide sufficient harry and comfortable life to a family and also, enjoyable receptions to guests as a center of comfortable and healthy life psychologically, and the change the solid and tasteless room tenderly by using fiber, so that it may be suited to a room with comfortable atmosphere, and this, I believe, will contribute for the fabric art to solidify its position on a higher level in our life.;조형예술의 한 분야를 개척한 섬유예술은 과거에는 예술로서 미학적 의식을 지니지 못하고 단지 장식적이고 실용적인 범위에서 그쳤었다. 그러나 근래에 이르러 섬유는 미술의 새로운 형식인 섬유예술의 소재로서 등장하게 되었으며 따라서 작가의 개성과 미의식을 표현하는 매개체로서 조형예술의 특수한 분야로 그 새로운 가치 개념을 수립하게 된 것이다. 또한, 오늘날의 미술은 급격하게 발전된 시대문명과 사회환경의 변화에 의해서 예술의 자율성 추구와 함께 예술관의 개혁에 의해 변모되고 있다. 따라서 미술은 회화·건축·조각같은 고정화된 개념에 사로 잡혔던 것에서 벗어나 좀 더 적극적인 조형의 세계로 그 터전을 넓혀 가고 있다. 그러므로 우리 일상 생활과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있는 섬유도 과거에 전래되어 온 고정적인 규범과 한계성에 의하여 실용적이고 형식적인 것에 국한되었던 것에서 벗어나 시대의 흐름에 따라 발전되었다. 따라서 섬유예술은 표현 능력과 재료 선택의 확대로 전개된 현대의 새로운 표현의 예술로 인정받게 되었다. 섬유예술이라는 새로운 형식이 등장하기 시작한 것은 극히 근래의 일로서 최근에 와서는 이 분야의 미술이 눈에 띄게 발전하여 현대 미술 속에서 뚜렷한 한 양식으로서 독자적인 위치를 인정받고 있다. 섬유예술은 창작력 및 표현 잠재력을 지니고 순수한 디자인의 특성과 개성적인 기법, 선택된 재료를 전체적으로 잘 융화시키는 작가에 의하여 착상되어 제작되는 것이다. 따라서 섬유예술의 특징은 기술적인 연구력과 실험정신으로서 효과적으로 색과 재료를 다루어야 하는 복합적인 요소가 강하다고 할 수 있다. 또한 최근의 섬유예술의 변화는 다른 시각예술의 변화와 교류되는 경향을 공유하며 20세기의 모든 예술에 대하여 새로운 개념으로 자극하고 있다. 본인이 연구하려는 섬유예술 분야는 그 범위를 축소하여 실내 디자이너로서 큰 역할을 하는 섬유예술 작가가 공간을 보다 아름답게 장식하려는 의도는 그 공간을 구성하는 요소인 소파나, 카펫트, 커튼, 쿳션, 벽지 또는 타피스트리 등에 대해서 알아보고 또 그것들이 인간에게 미치는 시각적인 효과와 기능적인 효과를 연결하여 논해 보고자 한다. 인간의 욕망인 쾌적한 생활 환경을 창조하려고 시도하는 것은 문명의 발전과 더불어 항상 현실적인 문제가 아닐 수 없다. 실내 공간의 디자인은 건축가와 실내 디자인을 하는 디자이너의 구체적이고 비쥬얼한 디자인 작업에 있어 밀접한 협조 아래 이루어지는 하모니이다. 여기에 섬유예술 작가가 실내 디자이너로 참여하여 한정된 건축공간에서 이루어지는 작업으로 디자인상의 기본법칙을 기저로 다양한 전개를 시도할 수 있다. 거실은 가족의 단란, 휴식, 접객 등이 충분히 이루어지고 심리적으로도 쾌적하고 건강한 생활의 중심이 되도록 디자인하고 안락한 분위기에 맞도록 해야 하며 또한, 딱딱한 실내에 섬유를 통해서 부드럽게 변화시켜 보자는 의도로 연구해야 되며 그로 인하여 앞으로 보다 높은 차원의 섬유예술이 생활속에서 그 위치를 굳히게 되리라 본다.
