현대사회와 인간소외의 표현에 관한 연구

Abstract

20세기와 더불어 시작된 과학기술의 눈부신 발달은 현대인에게 인류역사상 누릴 수 없었던 번영과 풍요를 제공하였다. 과학과 테크놀로지는 인간들의 소비 욕구를 끊임없이 채워 주었고, 이것은 계속적인 산업화와 경제 성장으로 이어졌다. 그러나 인간의 편의를 위해 만든 기계와 조직에 의해 오히려 인간이 소외되는 현상이 발생했고, 미디어의 권력이 지배하는 후기 산업사회, 정보사회에서 그 권력에 가까이 가지 못하는 대부분의 사람들은 자연스럽게 사회의 중심부에서 도태되었다. 사회를 움직이는 미디어의 권력과 거대한 조직, 과학기술에 의해 인간은 소외될 수밖에 없는 처지에 놓이게 된 것이다. 인격적 의미에서의 개인간 의사소통은 불가능해졌으며 조직이 거대화될수록 개인의 정신적, 도덕적 위기감은 더욱 가속화되었다. 본인은 이러한 현대사회와 인간소외 문제를 다루면서 이 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 자아정체성을 확립해야 한다고 생각했다. 현대인은 거대한 조직 속에서 마치 기계의 부품처럼 여겨지고 개성을 상실한 채 익명의 대중이 되었다. 이러한 상황에서 자신의 정체성을 찾고 개성을 발견하는 일이 인간소외를 극복하는 한 방법이 되리라고 본다. 이러한 주제의식은 작업을 통해 표현되었는데, 화면 안에서의 공간은 인간을 억압하고 불안하게 하는 현대사회의 상징이다. 현대인이 느끼는 공통된 위기의식은 익명의 마르고 긴 형체를 가진 인간으로 표현하였다. 그리고 전등, 계단, 출입구 등의 상징을 통해 자아를 찾아가려는 인간의 의지를 나타내었다. 본 논문은 본인의 작업을 이론적으로 모색하여 작업의 근간을 보다 명료하게 규정하기 위한 것이다. 먼저 후기 현대사회의 특징을 바로 알고, 인간의 실존적인 위기를 극복하는 방법으로 자아정체성의 확립이라는 대응 방식을 이끌어 내려 한다. 나아가서 동시대인들에게 우리가 처해 있는 현재의 상황을 알리고, 그것에 대응하는 방법으로써 진정한 주체를 찾고자 하는 의지를 심어주는 계기가 되었으면 한다. ; With the dazzling development of sciences and technologies of 20 century, the moderns have been provided with the prosperity and opulence that have never been experienced in history. Sciences and technologies have met the desire of consumption of human-being, and it has led to the development of economy and continual industrialization. However, the machines and organization built for the conveniences of human-being have rather worked as a mean of estranging human, and the citizen living in post-industrial society governed by media power, and the peripheral people around the information-driven society have naturally been washed out. Human-being has got to be in the merge of being estranged from the very power of media that drives society and the colossal organization. From the standpoint of individuality, the communication between person has become impossible and the bigger the organization becomes, the faster the sense of moral crises goes. Working on the subject of modern society and estrangement, I thought that the establishment of self-identity for solving the problem is necessary. The moderns have become the nameless the masses, deprived of the individuality and looked down upon as parts of machines in the enormous organization. In this situation, the operation of finding the individuality and identity I think is the method of overcoming the estrangement phenomena. This thesis is for ordaining more clearly the root of work of mine in terms of theory. First, I intend to deduce the method called the establishment of self-identity which is to overcome the existential crises of human being. And I hope that my work can be the chance to rouse the will to find the real subject as a method of coping with the present condition in which we, the contemporary men, are placed.
