유아의 방향개념 발달에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 4∼7세 유아의 방향개념, 「왼쪽-오른쪽」과 공간전환의 획득시기 및 발달상의 특징을 알아보고, 이들 개념 발달 수준이 연령, 성별, 지역에 따라 어떤 차이가 나타나는가를 알아봄으로써 우리나라 아동의 발달 특징에 맞는 과학 교과 과정의 기초 자료를 제공하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 유아의 방향개념(위, 아래, 옆, 앞, 뒤)은 언제 획득되며, 연령, 성별, 지역에 따른 차이가 나타나는가? 2. 유아의 왼쪽-오른쪽개념은 언제 획득되며, 연령, 성별, 지역에 따른 차이가 나타나는가? 3. 유아의 공간조망은 언제 획득되며, 연령, 성별, 지역에 따른 차이를 나타내는가? 4. 방향개념, 왼쪽-오른쪽개념, 공간조망은 어떤 순서로 발달하는가? 이상의 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 Jedrysek외 3인(1972) 이 방향개념 측정 시 사용한 도구와 Piaget(1959)가 왼쪽-오른쪽 개념 측정시 사용한 도구와 질문 및 Lavatelli의 밥상차리기 도구를 사용하여 4∼7세의 서울과 예산의 남·여 아동 240명을 대상으로 실험을 실시하였다. 평균치와 백분율, F검증, t검증을 사용하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 방향개념은 5세에 획득되는 것으로 나타났으며, 4세 이전에 이미 방향개념이 발달되는 경향을 보였다. 한편, 방향개념을 성별과 지역에 따른 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 2. 왼쪽-오른쪽구별 능력은 4∼7세에 점진적인 발달을 보이며 4세 경에 왼쪽-오른쪽 구별을 시작하였다. 성차는 사물에 대한 상대적인 왼쪽-오른쪽개념에서 의미있는 차이를 나타냈으며, 지역간에도 차이가 발견되었다. 3. 공간조망은 연령에 따라 점진적으로 발달하고, 6세경에 공간조망을 이해하기 시작하였으며, 6∼7세 아동들간에 성차나 지역차는 나타나지 않았다. 4. 방향개념의 획득 시기는 다음과 같다. ① 위·아래 : 4세이전 ② 앞 : 4세 ③ 옆·뒤 : 5세 ④ 자신의 왼쪽-오른쪽 : 6세 ⑤ 타인의 왼쪽-오른쪽 및 사물간의 상대적인 왼쪽-오른쪽개념 : 7세이후 ⑥ 공간조망 : 7세이후 일반적으로 방향개념은 위, 아래, 앞, 뒤, 옆, 왼쪽-오른쪽, 공간전환의 순서로 발달된다고 할 수 있다.;The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in child's orientation concept development with respect to age, sex and area, and it is hoped that this study contribute to the selection of science curriculum. The specific problems of this study are follows; 1. When will the young children acquire orientation (top, bottom, front, back, side) concept? Are there any significant differences in the yound children's orientation concept according to age, sex and area? 2. When will the yound children acquire left-right concept? Are there any significant differences in the young Children's left-right discrimination ability according to age, sex and area? 3. When will the young children acquire spatial perspective taking? Are there any significant differences in the yound children's spatial perspective taking according to age, sex and area? 4. And will orientation, left-right, spatial perspective taking abilities develop sequentially? 240 subjects were selected according to age ( 4 to 7 ) sex (Male, female) and area (Seoul, Yesan); A s instrument, Jedrysek's the orientation test, Piaget's left-right test and Lavatelli's table display task were used in this study. The basic statis- tical treatment, F-test were used to analize collected data. The results of this study concepts are as follows: 1. Orientation have progressively developed through the ages from four through seven years. Orientation concepts begin to develop at about age, sex and area differences were not found in orientation. 2. Left-Right discrimination has progressively developed. The skill begins to develop at about age four. The relativity of left and right concept in connexion with the actual objects shows significant sex differences. Area differences were found in the left-right concepts. 3. Spatial perspective taking ability has progressively developed according to age. The skill begins to develop at about age six. And spatial perspective taking ability shows no significant difference according to sex and area. 4. Children acquired conception of the orientation as-follow; 1) top, bottom : before 4 years old. 2) side, front, back : 5 years old. 3) his left and his right : 6 years old. 4) The relativity of left-right in connexion with the actual objects and of the person who i's speaking to him: after 7 years old. 5) Spatial perspective taking : after 7 years old. Generally conception of the orientation, left-right concept and spatial perspective taking in the children were found to be developing sequentially.
